My rotary has around 150k+ miles on it. Runs like a beast and starts right up every time. I have been drifting it, dragging it, hooning it, traveling in it and daily driving it for over 5 years now. It is all about how you treat them. If you want a piston engine to last you keep the rpm's low and baby the throttle. If you want a rotary engine to last you redline it at least once every time you drive it. They hate low rpms and they hate carbon build up. They also hate short run times. If you aren't going to run it for at least 30 minutes then don't start it. Just some tips from a successful rotary owner for anyone still confused lol! Rotaries ARE reliable.

I used to redline my Integra's B18C1 all the time, not so much anymore now, but do from time to time. 360,000 miles on the clock!

Im at 185k. All thats happened so far is a cracked radiator, 2 cracked spark plugs and a tiny drip from the OMP pump. Aside from that its been surviving some serious abuse. Ive had more issues with electrical since Mazda can't wire shit correctly.

Ahh I love 80's japanese performance cars so much. They have so much character. FC RX7, Mk3 Supra, HR31 Skyline, Z31 300ZX, AW11 MR2 and the AE86. I want all of them in my garage, one for everyday of the week. Sunday I can wash them all. Nothing beats cruising around in an 80s JDM coupe.

we barely have any v8s in europe so we learned how to keep the rotary in good shape. its all about how you treat the engine. the rotaries are not unreliable, its just the american drivers ruining them. I know tons of people with rx7's, fc's and fd's who have never have any issues. treat it properly and it will treat YOU properly.

Dang. This makes me want to get my old FC out of my parents' barn and get it running again.
Mazda put a shifter buzzer in all the RX7's (FB, FC, and FD). Mazda did this because the rotary engine is very smooth and quiet in stock form, which they believed would cause people to unknowingly over rev the engine and blow the motor.
The RX-8 (FE) also has a buzzer.

A love Doritos! They go perfectly well with big turbos. The spool time of a big turbo with the high revving nature of a rotary harmonizes so well.

Finally! I've been waiting forever for an FC review that actually still has rotors. I own a 1986 GXL that I plan on turbo II swapping. It's a bit of a basket case atm, but I want to turn it into a fun street/track toy like this.
1 year later I finally bought one. Best mistake I've ever made, its nothing but problems but man is it fun.

from a safety standpoint, those bride seats look like the harness holes fit you very well. I would suggest them for the drift 240
I got the impression that at least one model of the FD and RX8 came with a shift buzzer sound thing, too. Maybe I'm wrong about that, though?

Noticed you have an S5 powerplant (motor) in your S4. Same here! S5 turbo motor in mine and it had low miles. After the 30yr old turbo died, I decided to go big and start the project. The monster is almost ready! Glad you stayed with the 13B. Dorito strong
I actually just have the S5 intake on an S4 Keg. I still have the mechanical OMP thankfully!

My buddy's cousin lives in puerto rico and builds RX-7s FCs that run high 6's on the quarter mile. Couldn't believe it.
My first 4 cars (yup first 4) where all FC RX-7's, they are simply amazing. . . . and I miss them, but not the rotary headache.

I had a '76 Mazda RX5 Cosmo and even they had that buzzer.
Rotaries can be reliable if you take care of them. My 12A has 230k miles and just now got a bad coolant jacket. Still runs great, just sips on its coolant.

I paid $1500 for my turbo II in 2014. Biggest regret selling the thing especially since I can't find one in half the condition for under 6k now a days. It paid for my plane ticket to Japan but still a big regret :( I love the enthusiasm in this video ^.^
I believe that buzzer when you are near the limiter exists in the FB, FC and the FD, oh the RX8 has a different buzzer though :)

You definitely need some more front view shots, it really puts into perspective the speed of the vehicle in comparison to your normal angle

The reliability and high maintenance don't bother me at all. The *only* think that would put me off from owing the car is the fuel economy. But some day, when I'm ready, I'll buy one...
SI0AX the fc na is not really a high maintenance car as far as the engine. The na 13b will last forever. The renisis is a different story though.
If I were to own an FC, it would be the Turbo II.
But the Renesis is only bad due to the emissions control devices.
Premix most(if not all) emissions devices should make it just as reliable.
Edit: WTF^ I meant, if you remove most or all emissions devices & premix, it should be more relaible, lol.
