WOW what a treat! I’m Jason the Bass player. I was 26 in this video (60 now!) watching this has been a reminder of how groovy we could be on a good night! Pleased with my Bass sound (thank you Hanz) Just for the record….no drugs or alcohol involved!! What a fantastic tour that was. Thank you so much for posting this little gem of my youth!
Congratulations for that performance. I had some of the albums and honestly, playing those songs on a scene was very ambitious. The amount of special effects involved was incredible for the time. I was a big fan of the album "Island of Jewels". These versions of "Our Lady In Chambers" and "The Diary" are on point. I had no idea at the time how could someone make music that sounds like this, and you guys do it ON STAGE!! Island of Jewels was never far from my record player (or "walkman") in 89. I was 13 at the time!! :D See? I will never forget The Legendary Pink Dots. Thank you guys.
That's so cool. Sounds amazing
Hi Jason, this is Klaus Totzler from Vienna. You stayed at my place twice. I think it was 1987 as well. I took some photos - you might remember me.
Love your bass performance on this. Did you do anything else musically after LPD?
congratulations and thank you very very very much !!!
I was 18 and 1987 was the year i was introduced to this amazing band
I turned 18 in 1987; the last truly classic year, and I've only been introduced to them this week.
@@Scotty-P better late than never, to me 1991 was the last truly classic year
Island of Jewels has always been my favorite album by them.
The Dairy is underrated
My most beloved group and sound for over 30 years! Have most recordings in my audio collection. Listen thru a high-end audio system.
still holds up today, no matter when you are reading this.
I'm reading this in 2075. It sounds awesome in my cochlear implants.

Thank you! I miss the days when Edward would draw the cracks on his face, and Silverman wore the silver face paint! And it's nice to hear the older songs. These days, the oldest tracks we are treated to are from Maria Dimension and Crushed Velvet Apocalypse - although I was lucky enough to hear them play "Lisa's Party" at a show a few years back. Which was a wonderful thing to experience. That and hearing "The Lovers" a couple years ago when Edward and Patrick Q. Wright toured with Amanda Palmer are my musical highlights this decade.
Saw them last year. I really wish they would’ve played something from Chemical Playschool 1/2 or Curse.
First heard them in 1980 and loved LPD and grown with their music to today. Love Edward, Patrick, Phil and all the other lpd family members who have come and gone....
Oh, my, what a treat!! Powerful and weird concert. This version of Jewel in the crown is great, fresh, intense and funny… I’ve been following the LPD for more than 20 years and still love them every time I listen to the music. I had the chance to listen to them in Mexico City, once at the sculpture garden in the university, another at a very strange place behind a refinery… unforgettable.
That opening would sound great in an early 80's anime.
First two tracks totally astound me. What talent.
Curious Guy, from 9:35, was the one that first transfixed me.
We shall not grow old..
Great version of Curious Guy. Very creative musicians all.
These were the best days of the band with the best members and sound
Fantastic. Love this performance. Saw them in Holland performing during this time. I went there with my sister. This brings back memories ❤️✌️
Someone on Vital Weekly - number 1315, week 51 - says my music is similar to theirs. Thanks to him I discovered an unheard of treasure
i love you for uploading this. thanks
You're welcome!
Love this Era. Ive seen them many times, and the best is with a full group. Horns and all.
Thanks for sharing this great performance
i popped this into the vhs player when i was 14, a year before i even tried weed, i don't think i got it... cut to 31 now and omg this performance reminds me a bit of mr bungle lingerie club show
Saw them around this time in Boston. I was in heaven and my wife was traumatized. Great show I believe. My mind was LPDnapped.
Ничего себе группа! Музыка крышку сносит без всякой дури, тексты бы ещё почитать! И почему они не так известны как Пинк Флойд, ведь существуют давно и альбомов у них много
У меня тот же вопрос
Back when the Pink Dots were a sextet! I think half the band had left the scene the next year or so. This is a good show though, with a couple of my favourite pieces, like The dairy, Poppy Day and Our lady in chambers...
watched the whole thing, awe-inspiring. What passion. However, the video cuts before the performance is over!
It was probably an hour-long tape!
@@GazelyGaze I remember those days!!
6:24 - Edward trying to figure out where he placed his car keys 😄
WOW, FABULOUS !!!
FANTASTIC!
Toute ma jeunesse, merci!
Me hubiera encantado escuchar en vivo con esta alineación el album The Golden Age.
Yo lo vi en vivo en valparaiso chile son humuildes y sencillos
I worked with a guy like Edward... the same lyrics would pop up in every song we attempted to write, or similar rhyme scheme... he is brilliant but I find it funny
Much thanks!
❤

ESTO ES SOLO PARA TUS SENTIDOS, FUERA DE ESTE MUNDO TERRENAL. LARGATE D AQUI!!!
Seems like they were playing to an empty room..
The mannequin guy is probably the best musician out of all of them, he seems very vital to the band's sound, not sure they would sound the same without him.
5:23 heart piercing cold deeply high whale strings !

Sick
It sounds like a male version of Laurie Anderson
Love how this group has evolved overtime. Not fan of the older stuff, definitely prefer the later stuff
How are they getting that vocal effect?
