Other than the fact that I disagree with most of these, I really don't understand the obsession over Muslim representation. We are not that fragile...not seeing a black Muslim like me isn't going to make me feel any less of a person and it's not going to add anything to my life.

Nowadays the media has a great impact on how people view the world. I think it's not about whether we want to see ourselves represented or not, but the fact that we want others who do not understand us in see us on a more positive and informative light. Many Muslims in the west face discrimination because of ignorance and the way we are usually represented on western media. I think Muslims representations done right is important because it helps dismantle at least some of the doubts and ignorant assumptions that none Muslims have about us.
I loved how they showed different groups of Muslims in a community in Ms Marvel, especially the Illuminaunties😂
The biggest problem with Muslim Representations is that doing so giving a realistic western Muslim go against Islamic Values even till today I never seen a Real Good Representations of A Good Muslim you practice his religion who doesn’t do haram and overall his just good Muslim

The last scene where they had their last fajr prayer together makes me cry. Sheriff Hasan died from his injury while in sujud, the most noble death we Muslim longs for. I am glad he died first, sparing him from the sights of his son, who he does everything for, burning in the sunlight. Also how Ali who stray from Islam because of social pressure around him finally found himself back, never once killing anyone when he is turned betraying the society that pressure him to leave his faith and become the hero. He finally got to lead the prayer as he realizes his mistake, burning when the sun is up while holding his father body. I cried so much at this scene.
Ms Marvel...Hard pass. Definitely not a good representation. I thought maybe it'll be nice to watch with my littles but Astaghfirullah. The free mixing, lack of hijab, etc. We found ourselves teaching our almost 9 year old daughter what NOT to do🙌🏾

The thing with ms Marvel is that it is quite accurate to the average Muslim teen in America ig, it's very complicated tho because there are a lot of things that are done that many Muslims aren't supposed to do like touching and befriending guys, not wearing a hijab, etc. So it doesn't quite feel like a representation of a Muslim girl as a young black British muslim girl myself, but more like a Pakistani American teen (tho I've had many encounters with Pakistani culture here in the UK and its very different to what is presented tbh and most ppl are very in tune with their religion). It's good in terms of being marvel comic accurate (tho she is supposed to shapeshift loool)

Ms.Marvel represented Muslim religion quite goodly (Atleast better than every netflix series). It didn’t show hijab as a burden for Muslim girls like elite. Rather Kamala's friend said that she wears hijab because she likes it. They also show that having long beard like kamala's brother is not a sign of terrorism.

Actually, I think another show could be added to the list. I saw the first season of "Sleeper Cell" and I feel they did a pretty good job representing Muslims through the character Darwin. My favorite of season one is episode four "Scholar".

I've given a really big comment on one of the first bad rep videos, so I'm not gonna re-write it all,for many reasons mainly the fact that y'all won't care anyway, but I'll reiterate one that I think deserves praise, it's selina from season 4 and 5 of wolfblood. her faith is not front and center cuz its a kids show about werewolves lmao, but it's in everything she does as a character, you can see she,s motivated by it, I love her
yesss i watched wolfblood too, so cool how they included a hijabi. but i kinda like how very few shows get actual hijabis so act as hijabis (like skam such a 10/10 show) cause it puts me off one scene they have the hijab and next scene they don't idk why but as a hijabi its makes me feel uncomfortable i can't describe the feeling.

And we in Pakistan cancel miss marvel. The show has shown such a bad image to Pakistani community making them goofy and backward.
And twisting the partition theory. The british doesnt divide india. The bad behaviour of hindu majority towards muslims minority is the reason that muslims feels that we are moving from one slavery to another. From slavery of the British to the slavery of the hindus. Even thankful to the british for partition but partition was done in a way that it gets bloody and enmity stays between india and Pakistan.

I don't know.... it seems the same old tropes to say Muslim identity should be seen internally as some type of astrology from Hollywood industry from Muslims & Non-Muslims drawing up narratives for entertainment for the Public to watch. There is no correct Muslim representation because Muslims are diverse, different races have different cultures. Generally, Muslims are just like everybody else, but in movies they have to impose stereotypes on a Muslim characters to show that they're Muslim and some stereotypes, arguably, only true to some races. You see, Arabs are not the same with Pakistani and both are not the same with Malaysian, but in movies all must always do Islamic gestures, prayers and such things in which in real life either almost nobody done that or done differently in different ways, not as usually portrayed.
