The biggest issue with our issued MCX Virtus 11.5's is the weight, compared to our M4's. Also the SIG suppressors weren't available at the time so we're using AAC M2000's. Most of us looked for ways to save weight wherever we can. The rifle itself shoots well and cleaner with a can than a DI gun. We also use the Romeo 8 sight which when I first saw it i was skeptical about, however it's pretty decent. Great review!

A really good rifle, both in looks and in functionality. It really looks like the definitive evolution of the M4 and with a few bits of refinement and some time to settle, it will probably end up being the new iconic AR platform rifle.
Definetly a bad flash hider but for how good of a suppressor mount it is, it doesn't even matter. Suppressors are pretty much a necessity and SIG did a really good job on that matter. I'd prefer a wider charging handle but that's about it. Really great weapon.

Cold hammer forging was originally invented to speed up barrel production, not to increase barrel life. If the barrel steel is high quality CHF doesn’t seem to make any actual conclusive difference on barrel life. Everything comes down to fudd lord and perception based on what is used in military contracts.

A large portion of the expanding gas from a fired cartridge in a gas operated rifle exits the barrel at the ejection port regardless if it is a piston or DI operated gas system. High pressure seeks to escape anywhere there is lower pressure. The backpressure of the system is effected by barrel length, gas port dwell time, gas port length, and what the backpressure characteristics are of the suppressor being used. The resulting backpressure from whatever combination is created effects how quickly the bolt will unlock after a cartridge is fired, this is why cyclic rate increases when a suppressor is used. If the system is modified or a different combination is used such as longer barrels + longer gas systems, it will result in longer lock times. Longer lock time results in more gas being vented through the muzzle of the weapon instead of the ejection port. The gas escaping the ejection port is visibly seen in all the footage of Mike shooting this rifle. The reliability of a weapon system has more to do with the relationship of component tolerances to the resulting backpressure combination. You need good parts that are in correct spec, namely the BCG and other gas sealing components, and a backpressure combination that isn't too little and isn't too much.
The M4 is a result of fixing a problem with brute force methods i.e. - shortening the gas system and keeping the barrel fairly long. The result is very long dwell time weapon system. In other words, if you cram an ass load of gas down the gas tube its most likely going to run no matter what. Its also going to beat its gas rings, bolt lugs, cam pins, and carrier keys to death and be horrifically overgassed if you put a suppressor on it. There are better ways to fix that problem. Learn how to inspect parts wear - gas tube, gas key, gas rings, gas block. If any combination of those locations is leaking gas, the system will stop running either due to weak ammunition, dirt/carbon, or something extreme like being frozen. If all of those critical interface locations are adequately sealed your potential failure rate plummets even if you introduce the same weak ammunition, dirt/carbon, or temperature factors. Why do you think KAC seals their gas system from the factory? Similar to a car, you can make more horsepower by adding more fuel, or by making more efficient use of the fuel you have. Leaks are inefficient, I would be wiling to bet that many of the malfunctioning guns that resulted in the creation of the M4 could have been fixed by proper inspection and knowing where to look for leaks in the gas system and lubing the damn thing every once in a while rather than turning up the gas pressure.

A normal ar has almost no recoil but this seriously feels like a .22lr when you shoot it. The even lighter recoil allows a more shots on target more accurately and faster. I was blow away by this rifle and I’m not really a sig fan, I just bought it because it was built differently then most ar’s on the market and I love a fresh take on an old design. So far no failures suppressed or unsuppressed and it’s honestly 1000 times better then I thought it would be. It appears bayonets are falling to the way side as being a part of an integral weapon system. I personally like the option of mounting one, especially if that means my bayonet is my knife and it is more of a multi-functional piece of equipment. That's another reason why I can't seem to dump the 20" AR platform. I feel as if I'm married too it and it's 'till death do us part.

It's not the actual use, but more so a mental intimidation factor. For me, it looks bad ass on my wall and pisses off the anti gun nuts even more so it's a win win for me.

I definitely agree, but as a soldier or survivalist, all the gear carried adds weight and weight equals pain. The more multi-functional any item can be, the better it is. That said, most bayonets are not a practical bush tool, though it could work in a pinch. But in terms of war, it's an edged tool that will cut fabrics and flesh alike and when it's mounted on the gun, adds that little bit of intimidation factor that messes with an enemies moral and confidence.

The Robinson Arms XCR-L series of rifles has a left side charging handle. You can press the protruding charging knob in towards the bolt. That's your forward assist that goes forwards and rearwards. Multiple caliber capable. With a barrel, bolt face and ejector change you have four choices: 5.56-Nato, 7.62x39, 6.8-SPC and .300 Blackout. Tools for the changeover are a medium sized Phillips and a ¼" Allen wrench.
