I’m in the middle of a nasty bronchitis right now and I started coughing because I was really genuinely laughing 🤣 It made me think of those crazy Japanese ads with funky backgrounds, motion graphics and overhyped sellers loll Great job sir!
Owned the FM3 two times now and am at my 2nd Quad Cortex. While I love the overall tones & effects in the Fractal and the flexibility, I had to settle on the Quad Cortex as it fits my needs better currently: playing in a 5-piece band & the QC allows me to run 2 guitars, bass and vocals all in the same unit. Easy to carry around & pretty rugged (if the Fortin Nameless and the NATAS land in the next update, I'll be even happier). At home, I usually just play NAM profiles of my gear on my PC & audio interface.
This is a problem we didn’t have as kids with the gear available at the time. We had two sounds and two volumes: a muddy clean and a foul distortion played at “can’t hear over the drummer” or “mom yelling down the basement steps to turn it down” volume. 😂
Honestly all of them sound good when put into a power amp and guitar cabinet 🗄️ I have several different FRFR options and none of them actually sound like an amp in the room they sound darn close... But when you actually have them next to each other it's just miles's part still!
If you can’t get any modeller to work for you then it’s a user issue, not a product issue. They all sound stellar. I mean look at Micheal Amott, he’s still using a GSP1101 live through a Marshall amp power section! I’ve used the little Mooer 005 live and it works. I still use, and prefer amps live, but great to have options.
@@MattW4319 Yep, I used a small Marshall power amp with mine. IR to FOH, and the spillover on the effects is still better than some higher end modellers. Great units. I upgraded the firmware on mine to the non official uodate, which had a great 5150 amp sim. Really regret selling it.
I am using mainly the Helix lt, got the tone x pedal to improve the amp sounds. But I realized the amp sound are not really that much better. I also have a mooer preamp live, which sounds also great, but it is now more the backup for the tone x pedal.
Loved that intro so much. I think there's a need for education on how to get the best out of these things given that they're supplying an end to end sound chain beyond just amps and pedals. The differences are there though. I've a rig based on AmpliTube and ToneX, the Quad Cortex and the Fender. The Fender and AmpliTube are the easiest to use by far but the Quad Cortex and AmpliTube have more power in them for handling gigs and recordings. The Fender has the best connectivity and I think an edge on built (no beer inlets as I call the vents on the Quad Cortex. For me, if @IK Multimedia put out a box with the connectivity and UI of a Fender and the full range of their studio stuff, ToneX and AmpliTube it would be the ultimate.
I would agree that objectively-speaking, it's a pretty level playing field these days - pick one you like and go with it. Yeah I’m either tweaking or watching RUclips :( I’m quitting the tweaking part, as it’s affecting my health, but I do have all the fancy modelers and they are complicated. Downloading firmware and blah blah. What is getting me back into it, is the Mooer Prime P2. The software isn’t too bad, lots of Japanese and different apps, which to me make it super confusing. But, it has some really easy, simple presets already installed, and I just found their native app which you can tweak them etc. The Bluetooth connectivity kinda sucks but you only need that to back it up or mess with settings. Plus it runs on rechargeable power! So at night all I need is headphones. It’s about the size of an iPhone maybe smaller. Now I’m just learning how to connect it to my Seymour powerstage 200 and out to a real cab. So two small devices and an iPad is all I need!
Guitar players today have it so easy. We never worried about tone when I was young. We just played with what we could afford and made it sound as good as we could. But guitarists today want to copy other peoples sound and not make due with what they have.

I have the tone x and am still very happy with it. I agree that I probably won't need a nano cortex however what I love about the nano cortex is that it can capture on it's on.
When I'm recording, I typically use ML Sound Lab Mark V. I don't use presets, I dial in each time based on the song. Live, my son is using an old DigiTech RP1000 we bought at a pawn shop for $135. Do you go out into a guitar amp or straight into front of house? The only thing that bother me about the ME-90 is the weird IR that you can't get round on the guitar output (where you have to specify Tube Amp, katana, 4x12, 1x12 etc).

Ive been playing this game for 39 years and long ago there was a lot of suck and great was expensive! Today, I have a couple tube amps. 1 is a JOYO and setup the right way with my TONEX, I can literally get it to sound like the songs playing off the records. I also do not just use the TONEX, its incorporated into my pedal chain and running to the effects loops return so I get any amp I really want. With a pre amp pedal I can cheat and attenuator when I am running this same setup into the return of my 100 watt Marshall DSL and out of the Marshall 2X12 cab with my own speakers I chose. Pair that with an IR cab, and a EQ pedal in the chain, and the sky is the limit.
One of the big things people tend to gloss over is support-not just in warranty but also firmware/software. Sometimes bugs can still be found within the code and they have to be fixed. Most of these things are so expensive and you don’t want to be left hanging due to a technical issue.
I thing nothing can beat Tonex One with software update (effects). As you said, everything sounds the same, but this pedal is 180$ vs QC vhich is 2,5k$, so more than ten times for the same JCM 800, Soldano, 5150 or Mesa sound, for us, metalheads. Choice is obvious.
I've had a few different ones. Helix . Headrush. Hotone. Boss . But I don't do captures yet, but for me I went back to the headrush but bought the prime I'm old and it's just easy for me to program or navigate it . And when the people who have heard it usually they tell me oh u nailed that tone like VH . Rhoads . Zeppelin whatever . It's just easier for me . Who knows maybe I'll try to capture my helios eclipse . Anyway just my 2cents .
Most modelers can achieve great, usable tones. I think people should pay attention to the interface, ease of use, size, screen size, etc. Great intro today!

Listening with my eyes closed, every example sounded great...some slight differences, but if one didn't know you were using different modelers, you would just think it was what and how you were playing. Excellent guitar work...
I started playing in the early 80s, messed with all kinds of stuff over the years, and I use that perspective to remind myself what an embarrasment of riches even the cheapest modellers are these days. Im like "oh hey Ill put a TS-808 in front of a Mark II-c, with a Fane loaded HiWatt cabinet, maybe a vintage Fender dedicated reverb with 4 foot springs, maybe an FX-65 cause its my favorite chorus ever, maybe an MXR 10-band, and why not a dyna-comp for solos? And it actually sounds like a Mrak with all that good stuff. And thats on a modeller that cost 150. Great Intro btw \m/

shit, im rockin a positive grid bias head from 2018 that I picked up for $250 and I run it through my prs mt15s power amp into a mesa 1x12 rectifier cabinet and it sounds fucking great. ya aint gotta spend a zillion $$$ on a modeler to get good sound, dont get brainwashed lol. think i got $1100 or so into all of it. got the prs modded and everything. I mainly play at home and record with it and practice but you could run a bigger cabinet or direct to house straight from the bias head, i just like the prs power amp as it sounds a lil warmer to me especially with cleans but live nobody will notice shit.
I have an evh 100 watt el34 and love it more than anything on earth but am considering getting something digital for a stereo setup or for gigs where i don't want to bring a whole setup with me. I'm torn between an fm9 or axefx3 or the quad cortex because i own 3 x plugins compatible with the cortex now. Any suggestions? The plain and simple truth is that every one of these modern high end modelers are capable of incredible tones. Any claim that any one of them "sounds bad" is plain and simple ignorance. Sure some will have a preference for certain workflows or features but if the ultimate goal is professional quality tones that would suit any recording or live use then every platform featured in this video would achieve that with ease. The flip side of that, which people often forget is all these pedals are equally as capable of sounding terrible if dialed in badly. It ultimately comes down to learning that pedal's workflow and having a bit of knowledge how to dial in the tone you want. After that you can't go too far wrong with any of these pedals.
The modelers are so nice these days that I’m afraid it might ruin the guitar world. When you can blueprint amps and download patches or share blueprint along with a midi pedal. How can you justify even buying amps or new pedals. Serious question. At what point will it be the death of all that stuff. It’s already hurting the used markets. Is what it is I guess

It’s the most amazing amp ever. I totally disliked the regular Katanas and got rid of them soon after I got them. But the Artist combo is the single greatest piece of gear I’ve ever used. And I use it more than any other stuff I have. But the ME-90 is absolutely insanely cool.
Tonally how do all the modelers compare to each other? About the same? I play Kemper, I’ve been happy with it
@@BeautifulGuitars365 they’re getting better and better. And cheaper and cheaper. The Kempers are pretty outdated at this point tbh.
I also watch tier list, A-B comparisons, deep dive reviews, etc.... I watch all of them so I can make an educated investment to see if it's worth it. There are times I hold off on buying something until I get more info on other products and 9 out of 10 times I'm glad I made the smart choice
Great video. I got a good kick out of it. I wish you would grab the Bogner Uberschall Ultra and demo it for us!!!
Thank you. I'm hoping someone will send it to me
Best intro I’ve ever seen , Cheers BC
The person is the game changer. EVH, Hendrix, Vai, etc, etc
Here, here! Let's decimate all dominating decimators!!!
Love the intro, man!
What is your left pedal? Camera switch? Backing track controller? Just curious.
@@FountainJL it's a camera switching pedal that I run through my stream deck
"only to kill it all again" 🔥🔥 🤣
Haha that was a fun video to do
I already put everything into my quad cortex. I already own that due to the hype. Im all in due to that. I don't have enough money to change that now.
Pretty much just nailed what i been telling everyone who ask me about all these units....btw i absolutely 💯 loved the tone you got out of Stomp...i need to try your IRs i simpky been using HX into a real cab....btw id pay real money to see your next review eith your Hogan impersonation going on 😂 you nailed it 🤣👍🏻 lmao 😂
Nice info…playing…opinion. Great job..
The cat though
😂🤣🤣😂🤣
@underthethrone668 thank you so much. Yeah, my cat is a total weirdo. He just got a lion cut at the groomers the other day, and he looks like a little baby lion. He's a little dork and I love him.
We're hitting that Plateu!
Using an FM3 for years now. No urge at all to try anything else.
The fanny pack. So much for that drink of coffee 😂
The new game changer on the block is the neural nano or whatever it's called lol it does kind of intrigue me because of the spacing between the 2 footswitches-its the little things lol
I would honestly have to agree with you on that. I'm getting ready to do another video with that product a little later today.
10:20 Justice done to that modeler, like that reverse pick chromatic at 10:47 too.
shit, im rockin a positive grid bias head from 2018 that I picked up for $250 and I run it through my prs mt15s power amp into a mesa 1x12 rectifier cabinet and it sounds fucking great. ya aint gotta spend a zillion $$$ on a modeler to get good sound, dont get brainwashed lol. think i got $1100 or so into all of it. got the prs modded and everything. I mainly play at home and record with it and practice but you could run a bigger cabinet or direct to house straight from the bias head, i just like the prs power amp as it sounds a lil warmer to me especially with cleans but live nobody will notice shit.
The HXS sounded the best which is always surprising considering it’s one of the more affordable and oldest devices around. Another great vid mate!
I love my evh for the duality of the demonic red channel and the angelic green channel. Never really use the blue channel because I prefer the red.
I would like Yamaha to buy IK multimedia and they can have a love child between the helix and TONEX AmpliTube stuff
If you ain't using a Fractal you ain't...
I'm using...
Helix floor
or
HX-Effects + tube amps or Catalyst 100
I have some inexpensive modelers (e.g., Mooer Prime S1), sound good too.
Cheers!
FANTASTIC guitar player 🤘🤘
wow..that intro was hilarious😂..cool
Well I bought the nano cortex see how good it is
awesome playing
Very entertaining!
The feature a prefer is Hype
The Kemper passes blind tests easily. That's all I need to know
Some good weed ya got there my brother. 🤘🏻😀😀
Hey man theyve gotta sell these things somehow! Theyre certainly not doing it witj stock presets.
Guilty as charged. Boss Katana Artist mkii traded in for Boss Katana Head Gen 3.
That intro portrays all the shitty music youtubers, you are the man!
My thing is that I'm not in a touring band. I'm not going over sea's. I'll take what I got wherever. No need for over kill.❤
Don’t need anything overkill for going overseas either, just something small that sounds good that goes into a power amp and cab
Thank you for saying what needed to be said; thank you!!! It’s all just a bunch of humbucker cray. I’m into amps ok, Hands down!!!
Dude I just can’t get my HX stomp to sound anywhere near that good!! Maybe I haven’t ventured into the settings. It can def get overwhelming
@@w1923 it's really all about keeping it simple and good impulse responses
Haha loved the intro
I feel officially addressed and offended by the intro. 😀 Just joking, you are bang on the money. Of course, we content creators sometimes have to try to lure the audience into our videos, and for that, you have to be at least a bit hyperbolic, unfortunately. But yeah, we talked about all of that already, it is, what it is! But good to have that constant reminder, so folks: USE THE GEAR YOU HAVE! 🙂
Thank you! There's so many good amp modelers now. Size, features, and format should be the deciding factors.
Thank you for the intro…. Scotch through the nose funny, not so funny!!!
I like the Kemper and FTM. Both fit the bill for me. Keep up the great work.
How was your throat after that intro? I certainly would have lost my voice after a few takes of that. Lol let’s see where this one goes.
It was starting to get pretty sore towards the end of all of the takes lol. I think I spent about 25 minutes doing all the takes. That was a rough shoot but a fun shoot at the same time
@@TONEWARSgearshow haha. It actually did seem pretty fun. Lol
You forgot the true killer of killers : 🔥Digitech RP70🔥
At this time there’s No point to have more than one modeler. All sound and emulate practically the same amps….
best intro EVER!!!!!!!!
Nothing will top the original tonex video you did! 😂😂😂
Great video. Jarrod, I think you might have another career as a metal comedian!
@@jeffhirshberg5171 haha
Unafraid of offending. Got to respect that.
Best intro ever lol
Motorcity Guitar affiliate? You must be local to me in the Detroit area or more so Waterford/Oakland county area?

Woah! ❤🎉
Well said
Awesome video as always.I think maybe you should put the guitar down and go into acting
Well I had to question for a moment if I was gonna sub, after finding out you don't always talk like the intro... Ehh why not..!🤣🤣
Haha. That was great. Cracked me up.
Mario Van Peebles (Kane) Highlander LOL...
@@WilliamWendland I love all of those movies.
@@TONEWARSgearshow Same here. Might have to watch them this weekend now.
Now that was an intro laughed my A$$ Off.
Haha awesome!
Same!
Yeah but does it sparkle? And I'm talking to the point where you even fart sparkles! You know those farkles!🤘🤘
Well that was..... something
Sansamp GT2
Yup Iam one of them I had great tone but you tube made me lose my way
So much that I forgot to play
The modelers are so nice these days that I’m afraid it might ruin the guitar world. When you can blueprint amps and download patches or share blueprint along with a midi pedal. How can you justify even buying amps or new pedals. Serious question. At what point will it be the death of all that stuff. It’s already hurting the used markets. Is what it is I guess
You could have done commercials haha
