Even after watching a dozen of these videos I still ask " Did no one check the weather and surf conditions?" I have never gone out even onto a small lake without obsessively checking conditions. Also those Safe Boats are insane at making chop seem invisible. Keep the vids coming!
Seriously how can anyone that owns a boat not know that it is a bad idea to have anyone on the bow in sporty conditions! Your videos are good evidence of the absolutely idiots that operate boats in that 3rd world country of South Florida! And the fact that the cops and FWC allow child endearment just goes to show the regard they have for human life down there!

Costs money to create law enforcement and the serious crimes Florida deals with stupid boaters just isn't a priority until someone dies and the feds get involved with traffic safety. Feds start to take notice of roads with too high fatality rate I am certain boating waterways would also have that scrutiny. You could ask the coast guard I am sure they don't like it but they have a lot of smuggling they need to prioritize in the keys and farther south.

I swear to god half these people DO NOT no anything about proper boating skills. Much less etiquette for other boaters. Overloaded boats, nobody wearing life jackets, speeding, and i'm quite sure drinking. And the list goes on and on.
Speeding? I thought at the point of the inlet where these are filmed there is no longer a speed limit? I will grant you the rest, but I'm curious about speeding or not. Unless you mean faster then they should for the conditions? As far as that goes I've seen it both ways, some say go faster to crown the waves, and some say slower, to ride them...

The best thing is to tilt the engine up so that you raise the forward ship, then you avoid meeting the waves with the forward ship, but rather with the lower part of the hull. I think some do, but there are very few. Rough seas and flat bottoms never become friends anyway.

Nice to see parent who keep the life jackets out for their kids. Too bad it will be too late to get them on when something happens. Isn’t it a law that children in a boat need to wear a vest? It’s law here in Maine and I made sure my kids wore one when they were young.

Actually, with the strong currents, I wouldn't be surprised you only find sand ! Now go over to Haul over sandbar, there you would find so much more.
The bottom of marinas are goldmines of crap. Lots of sunglasses, hats and cars keys, believe it or not.

the large power catamaran powered through that chop like a champ. As a rule of thumb, they say a catamaran style hull handles like a mono hull 1.5x it's size. So a 30ft cat would handle waves like a 45ft mono hull. Not too mention you have more space because they're usually wider.
ABSOLUTELY DO NOT handle like monohulls, they are very sensitive to side to side motions and essentially operate closer to a hydrofoil or high speed race style boat.. As for handling head on chop they cut though like butter and don't slam cause the air cushion they ride on.
@@scubatim_fl well, I could see how they'd not roll side to side like a mono-hull, but I don't know if they'd be 'very sensitive' like you said, and I definitely wouldn't say they ride on an air cushion. The space between the two hulls let's air out in the front and back so how is that an air cushion? I don't understand that analogy

If you have a boat called a Bayliner isn't it meant for use in a bay not the ocean. Or since an Ocean liner can go in a bay it doesn't matter.
What do you think a bay is? It's a body of water open to a larger body of water, like an ocean. There are some small and some huge. Conditions aren't necessarily going to be much different than on the ocean. It really depends on which bay, what it's connected to, how large and a handful of other factors. I can tell you now I grew up going sailing and boating on a bay and it could get plenty rough some days.
Most of this was just normal boating on rough water. Not really seeing much fail here. And honestly it's nothing compared some of the things I've seen on rough seas.

It seems like the outboard motor yachts are handling the water better than the other boats and it also seems like the cruiser yachts with a fly bridge aren't doing well in rough water.
A lot of these people don't seem to realise that it's generally a more comfortable ride going on an angle across waves, rather that smashing into them. Sure, it's not possible all the time, but when you can angle a bit you're going get a smoother ride. But hey, that's just the opinion of someone who's been surfing for 50+ years.

Sadly its far from. 90% of owners dont even know how to trim their motor correctly or adjust with environment and conditions. Seems like some of these boats look overpowered and overbalanced. Some are really arse-heavy with multiple large outboards, which must really distort the weight distribution on some of them.
I was also curious about whether all the inshore chop is a constant thing here? Seen a few videos over a couple of days and it looks super choppy all the time, even on days when it looks like a calm day further out.
It's strange. It seems like the boats that have the most problems are the ones going the slowest! I wonder why that is?

14 and older, you are not requured to wear a life jacket in Florida. Do adults wear life jackets at all times where you're from?

No, but my lake has 2' waves max, not 10'+. And I see lots of kids in these vids who are obviously way younger than 14 not wearing life jackets. Once you are looking at 6' waves like you see in many of these clips everyone should be wearing a jacket no matter what the rules say.
