- Опубликовано: 17 фев 2023
- Haulover Inlet in Florida is a popular spot for experienced boaters seeking a thrill. Known for its challenging conditions and strong currents, the inlet connects the Atlantic Ocean to the Intracoastal Waterway and is famous for its rough waves and strong winds, which can make boating hazardous. Despite the risks, many boaters are drawn to the inlet's challenging conditions and the opportunity to navigate through it.

We've handpicked the absolute best videos of the month just for you - get ready to be wowed!!
@1:05 Wow that person is lucky to be alive, the amazing amount of force behind the wave to overturn a boat that probably weighs 2-3 tonnes. Coastguard Amen.
The guy was wanted on multiple warrants, he had stolen the boat and had no business taking it out into the river. The same guy put a dead rotting fish on the goonies house before this. He put multiple people’s lives in danger for no reason plus destroyed someone’s boat.
@@makegaminggreatagain3907 god doesn't exist that guy should have been killed he was not the owner of the sandpiper it was stolen by and illegal immigrant that rescue and damage cost tax payers a good part of a million dollars
No wow here. Watched a couple of your videos, but the constant begging for comments really sucks. Goodbye. "Don't recommend channel" activated.
If they’re going to take their dogs on the boats in those waters, they need to put life jackets on them. Like bright orange so they can be seen and rescued if they go overboard.
I think if kids under 12 aren’t wearing life jackets the captains should incur a hefty fine, at least $100-150. As an animal lover I would vote for same law for dogs, but sure some would argue😝
They don’t even put life jackets on their kids. 😂. What makes u think they’ll put one on the dog?
@@sumtxflygrl1 Yea This is Florida, ,,, Florida is full of Americans ,,,Hello
Makes me sick to watch!
@@patriciapasciuto9022 absolutely, and not just any life jacket. I bought an ocean rated life jacket from West Marine online for $80 for my little Maltese as we can get into some crazy washing machine waves/ tides here in Kauai. It was one of the first things I purchased after we bought our zodiac medline 850 a couple of years ago. It’s excellent quality. We’ve used it well over 20 times and it’s still like new. It comes in real handy when we take the SUP to shore. Many beaches get some big waves as you enter and it’s easy to grab the handle on top and bring him right back. He’s a great little swimmer but he is too little to tackle an onslaught of wave after wave. People who don’t protect their dogs while on the ocean are irresponsible pet owners.
It never ceases to amaze me how many people are not wearing their life vests and how many kids, do not. Smh
EXACTLY! My family went boating all the time. Rule was life vests at all times!
Its not manly to wear life vests tho
Yep you’re really manly when you’re in the morgue. Thick as s**t.👎👎👎👎🇬🇧
That's the truth, and with so many little kids too.
Vests not looks good on insta-tok
These drone shots def put this channel on a higher level....wow!
These vids are addicting. These knuckleheads making me feel like Einstein. 😂😂
😂😂 I know, right😅
You mean ther cops?
Rule of boating in rough seas....if the waves are taller then the bow of your boat come about.....never let a trailing wake over take you, if you own an inboard don't take water over the bow it may flood out your engine below deck, always make sure lines are secure and children have life jackets on and finally boating should be fun, not getting banged around
Well said!!!
2. A working bilge pump is never a bad idea.
3. For the inboard make sure the electric system is tight and waterproof.
Come about? To beam too? Fool!
@@donb347 3. No such thing.
I assume life jackets are illegal there?
LoL 😂
When I was a kid and young adult my father had a boat and his rule was "no life jacket, no boat ride". Some of these people are ridiculous; but then again you can't fix stupid.
The speeds that some of these boats drive into a inlet is absolutely unbelievable
It's disaster waiting to happen
Boats that go to slow get swamped.
1:04 The boat on the Columbia River bar was stolen from the port of Astoria and the "captain" was fleeing capture when he attempted to cross the bar to evade the coast guard. The bar was doing what the CR bar does and he got in way too far over his head. He was apprehended (rescued) and prosecuted. But great video none the less. If anyone is curious what the most dangerous river bar in the US, if not the world, looks like. There it is.
Always a great show from the more dollars than sense crowd. I love all the smiles and laughter, yet they'll be crying on TV when one of their pals gets knocked out and tossed over to drown, all because they're too cool for a PFD. That inlet ain't got a conscience or preference for who it teaches a lesson to.
Thems Cigarette boat fellas looked like the mafia enjoying a day off from breaking legs and what not.
Love that Apache vessel cut through like a knife!
It's amazing how these parents don't put life jackets on their kids or themselves - especially in these crazy waters
Cause they're just plain stupid!
Actually the captain is incharge of everyone's saftey on their boat. He's even more stupid!
In some of these cases it’s child endangerment. This is how kids get killed.
Some people are just plain stupid
That apache sounded epic
The drone shot of that Midnight Express at 5:00 is phenomenal. Well done
The people and children I see on these not wearing life jackets in those conditions is mind boggling.
I really love this "new" fun element that is the smartphone held by a hand of a non-intelligent person!
Is your smart phone held by a non-intelligent person?
Lines caught in propeller(s) can Stop motors. Get caught in Haulover or Boca Inlets, in the slop with No Power, you'll most likely turn abeam to the seas and broach or go all the way over and capsize, 180° or roll over completely, 360°.
Those rescue personel has balls of titanium
These are everyday seas, fools like you think they are big deal.
Kudos to the Cigarette captain. He and his passengers wore self inflating PFDs. It is obvious that despite the unsafe conditions, PFDs were largely extinct on the other boats shown. Did the Hydrasports captain even have enough of them for the number of passengers! Did he show them where to find them if they wanted one? Is it just uncool or just bad seamanship?
I'm surprised even the kids aren't wearing life jackets. It is irresponsible of the parents. Greeting from Sweden.
Several of those commercial fishing boats in France are just waiting while the Captain is counting the waves. A sign of a good Captain.
Oh. Thank you. I was wondering. I thought they might have lost power.
Call me a baby. But whenever I take my family boating or when with friends, safety is the most important thing to me. I do not want anyone to get injured. Therefore I would rather drive an extra hour to launch my boat in much calmer waters than risk somebody getting hurt and or destroying the boat. No way would I launch it here with the water like that. Some people are crazy.
This makes 10000% more sense to me than what we watch here. We fished a lot growing on the TN River and swam in springs, FL beach vacations, etc. Typical TN stuff. My Pa and Dad BEAT into our heads that “You’re not stronger than the ocean” and “It doesn’t take deep water to kill you”.. Now with my family, I’m the same way. You can have an absolute ball and be safe. You don’t need to hurt yourself or others or even put yourself in danger. If it’s rough then don’t go out, it’ll be just that much more fun next weekend when it’s pretty and you get to
Note that the guy on the Sandpiper was not the Master he was the thief who had earlier stole the boat...
Yes the guy stole the boat. Always entertaining when people don't check the facts.
Even though it was a stolen vessel, he is still considered the Master because he is in command of it.
Time stamp?
@@chubbrock659 In order to give you a "time stamp" we would require the colour of your panties at the exact moment of the incident, and you need to provide proof that you did not possessed a whistle that could be louder than 110db, or was yellow in colour. Given that you did not provide an exact time your request will be denied.
You can appeal this decision by videotaping yourself dancing on one leg in circle while tapping your head with your left hand and repeating " I want a time stamp" at least 7 times.
@@Coyotehello where would you like that video sent? I have it prerecorded for just such an event.
It appears to me that more boaters of this area should view this channel.
it appears to me that you have done no "boating".
Timing the waves , taking the waves at the right speed and positioning your vessel to take the waves are critical . Even then you aren’t guaranteed your boat won’t sink.
5:34 woah
Question: "Why would you go out under these conditions?"
Answer: "What is Florida for $100, Alex."
The guy driving the small 'Custom Craft' from 19:38 onwards clearly knows what he's doing, manages his speed well, and handles his small boat without any submarining etc. He even seems to be wearing a life jacket! But for some reason he doesn't get the vast amount of enthusiastic, gushing praise heaped on the girl in the skimpy bikini driving the Blue Topped Legend in another video.
At 21:45 having 60 cylinders and 60 pistons pumping of Mercury outboard power is a practical and affordable option for any boaters needs, but is it better than 5 450R Mercury outboards? Yes.
The V12 600 hp Mercury is truly a masterpiece of engineering, and in the application seen at 21:45 a good choice.
Practical and affordable might have been stretching the truth for "any boaters needs" though.
Each 600 V12 weighs over 1200lbs. 60 cylinders at 100lbs per cylinder is 6000lbs. More actually, when installed.
The 450R is just under 700lbs each so 5 X 700 = 3500lbs ... a weight savings of around 47% if you use the actual installed numbers for both types. I still think it's worth it for this application. The cool factor is insane, if that is a thing.
That being said, it would be an interesting comparison to get the actual numbers for identical boats of this type, 5 X 450R vs 5 X V12 600.
P.S. Call me anytime if you need 190lbs of additional ballast in the boat, I'm available.
Always top notch filming by the zone! Steady zooming and no shake.
Our pleasure, Brian!
Agreed!!👍
So the guy the rescue swimmer saved was not the owner. He was in the country illegally and stole the boat! Luckily the coast guard was already on site training and no one was injured during the rescue.
Something that I've noticed about these Haulover Inlet videos is that the north side of the inlet tends to be less rough. Maybe the water is deeper on that side or the current is slower, but the waves tend to be longer and less steep there. That's a _tendency,_ though, and not a lead pipe cinch.
One of the problems I see, too, is the length of the waves changing on their way in the inlet, shortening as they come into the current flowing out and onto the shallower bottom. This change can catch skippers out as they proceed into the inlet. They seem to be alright until the wave that they've just crested catches up to the next one in front, causing the bow of the boat to stuff into the wave ahead.
If, when you come back from your run, Baker's Haulover Inlet isn't looking doable, your best bet is probably to go down south six or eight miles and get back into Biscayne Bay at the inlet between South Beach and Fisher Island.
At 5:42 nearly goes vertical.
Insane to leave dock in those conditions
It's all fun till you catch a big green one and go under - then, not so much fun
I'm from the UK and we respect our boats respect the sea and respect other people 's lives seems in USA no-one gives a hoot nothings changed.
I love the new opening audio 😍
I CANNOT BELIEVE THESE GUYS ARE GOING OUT IN A SINGLE ENGINE SMALL BOAT 💯💯💯💯😱
Love the information you give on the clips u show... Keep up the nice content 👍🏼 regards from the Netherlands 👏
that last guy >>>>BOSS LEVEL!
Guy on the little custom craft knew his waves!
Boy Zone is the BEST boat channel on RUclips!! 🌟
Much respect to the pilot of the Custom Craft at 19:45. He's got a little dinghy of a boat and is having a better ride than most of the wooden-headed fools in the big boats are having.
I love these Darwin Awards
Love your videos! Beautiful ocean and waves, such a lot of fun and fantastic video quality!
Thanks so much!
I watch these videos and wonder what goes through these people's minds (besides some part of the boat) to venture out on these days?
19:55: Every moron we see in these videos who constantly plow water into their boats need to watch this guy. Even with a low profile boat with a bow and rail only a foot or two off the water, you CAN navigate through here without filling your boat with water. It's all about speed management and paying attention! 👍👍👍
The guy that swam over and drove the boat back to shore is awesome. Definitely lucky af he was there.
Outstanding drone footage!! 👍👍👍
People taking small boats out in these conditions blows my mind! It takes such a huge toll on your body spending that much time just trying to stay stood up and the constant shock in your legs from crashing through waves is so draining
Only for weak fat people
Love the Apache 47, would definitely be my dream boat, especially with its amazing history :):):)
Props to Captain Carl Miller, 10:07 , all that choppy water and his boat ain't even bobbing!
Notice not a single one is wearing a life jacket.
That #1 Custom Craft captain, is the only guy who knows how to handle that inlet in a small boat. He did real good compared to the rest of them
Just amazing that so few boaters are actually wearing life vests going in/out very choppy inlet. Plus some boats are on the edge of being out of control !
great footage 🙏🏾
Some of these people think their boat is "the little engine that could."
I am so grateful to my uncle for teaching me about safe boating.
Awesome.....just Excellent. Thank you! Most of those boats don't have a pfd anywhere in sight.
Midnight express seems pretty safe every time. Great captain on there.
Wow..just think if you were a Chiropractor there!!!😊
How is NOT wearing life jackets a thing in the US? Is it something to do with ‘freedom’ or could that be - ‘free dumb’?
Why do these people go out in bad weather and no life jackets on ?
Personally I believe it is a clear sign of stupidity and a lack of survival instincts.
The Formula pass looked like fun if it's not your boat.
You had me at 47' Apache
My boat was taking on water one time but I managed to get on plane. Removed the drain plug and sucked the water out!
When I watch these videos, I always think WHY are you going out on a day like that? Stay on the ICW if you want to boat that day.
Becourse its fun and high adrenalin, if you know how to do it safely 😛
keep your scuppers clear!
Some people looked like they were hurt after being thrown around the boat deck.
That boat was DESTROYED!
My favorite moment is when they finally put the damn phone away or have it smacked out of their hand
Ah yes, these must be the infamous credit card captains i've heard so much about
The best investment for these 'credit card captains', barring training, is a 5 gallon bucket! Most useful equipment on a boat!
The years I had a boat,I always did my best to keep the bow up. Either speed changes or shifting of weight, it worked. Never lost anyone or a serious incident. Luck or training?
All that angry water and boats, it is incredible that I saw only 2 people (in the Custom Boat) with life jackets on.
Several decades ago we went sailing, yes sailing where we had to raise and lower the sails. Water was pretty calm but the captain, one of our colleagues was a certified captain, *insisted* we all wear life jackets and tethered to the ship *at all times*.
The only time I put my dog in water is in the bathtub,,,,,,lol
those poor dogs. One was just a puppy!
I would be ok going out long as my boat was 4 times longer than those swells or more. Perhaps if you had a submarine is the only sub 30ft boat I'd take out in that.
Ironically the safest speed for these conditions is much faster than the operator will feel is safe
Midnight Express is the type of boat designed for rough water conditions. As are the "Cigarette" Boats.
What a fabulous pair of rocket ships they are too.
I remember my first Lite beer.
There is a reason they call that part of the Pacific Coast the graveyard of the Pacific.
Old timer in Boston whaler had boat up on plain with bow riding high no problems
We boat on the Chain-of-Lakes in Illinois and we don't go out if it gets to windy. lol Joe
Children should ALWAYS be in life vests no matter what!!!
no they shouldn't!
@@adamholledge7279 Why?
because it depends if they can swim and what boat they are on but you in some cases yes
Many are going way too fast. They come off the top of a wave and on the way down slam straight into the face of the following wave. They've got to learn to get their speed just right to match the wave sequence timing while watching closely for the wave that's out of sequence.
Small craft advisory....
Small craft capt. - Idk how so much water got in my boat!!.
Custom Craft for The WIN!!! 😂💪🏻🤘🏻🖖🏻
The scuba captain was not a good decision to go out under those conditions
There re old captains and there are bold captains, but few old, bold captains. :(
1:27 wasn't the owner of the vessel. That was the stealer of the vessel and it happened off the coast of Oregon after he vandalized the goodies house.
A small craft is not just a dingy, like some of these peoples minds.
Always amazes me. People spend tens of thousands of dollars, probably still have loan payments to make and they beat the cr@p out of their investment.
Columbia River be like hold my beer!
It amazes me that no one wears float vest. Ive even seen kids with out.
Excellent filming. I loved the nut that took his boat VERTICAL, at around 5:30, in the video. Don’t these clowns even THINK - about their passenger’s feelings !?
NO consideration, at all.
Just because you know how to swim, doesn’t mean you should beat your boat up, so badly.
Why, you could see his whole T-TOP shudder and shift!
Absolutely thoughtless!
Formula Vee coming in too hot /fast. You have to ride the wave in and just stay at pace with the ocean.
Always check the small craft advisory and do as it says because this can happen to anyone.
I would never go...risk versus reward...
For fun by myself to learn...yes
lol
That boat at 1:45 was the cl0wn that left a dead fish on the doorstep at the Goonies movie house, then proceeded to steal that boat, and well we see how well that worked out for him!
Better make sure the bilge pump is working that day
