    Use a temperature gun instead of the diag system. Sorry but not everyone is cruising around with a dealership diagnosis software.

    I noticed that the 09G and 09M have a very similar looking gasket so watch which one you order. I just know somewhere is some guy who had to send it back because he ordered the wrong one. It is an easy thing to do.

    Good video, but when I watched this it wasn't obvious to me that the engine needs to be running when you check the fluid level. That's important since you will drain off too much fluid if the engine is not running. I saw this emphasized multiple times on one of the VW forums.

      Should the drain plug be out ? when the engine is running and the oil level is tested??And if the plug is out, should the plastic adapter and tube be in? to prevent splatter?

  • @EV3R-11
    @EV3R-11 8 лет назад +7

    It seems there was an error in the instructions, please correct me if I am wrong. At around 5:13 you say that after filling the transmission install and torque the drain plug. After that, we allow the atf temp to reach between 35c to 45c range and we should begin to see some fluid pour out of the level insert. How will fluid pour out if the drain plug is installed and torqued to spec?

    • @blauparts
      @blauparts  8 лет назад +4

      Hello Ev L!
      The instructional step around 5:13 is correct. You will have the best success during your ATF change by following the steps as closely as possible. Install the drain plug as outlined around 5:13. Allow the engine to idle and wait until the transmission fluid temperature reaches between 35c and 45c. If you choose to keep the drain plug out before the ATF temperature reaches between 35c and 45c you will have allowed too much ATF to drain back out of the system. To check the level, the drain plug should only be removed when the transmission fluid temperature is between 35c and 45c. Its the window of 35c and 45c that allows for the proper fluid viscosity and proper ATF level. The ATF level should only be checked between 35c and 45c. Between 35c and 45c allow the ATF to drain until you get a small stream (just as it changes to a drip.) from the level insert drain plug area. Then as outlined at 6:13 torque the drain plug to 12 ft lb. We also have some other videos on our channel that show a diagram of the transmission fluid leveling sequence on your application.
      We hope this helps! And if you have any other questions, feel free to ask!

    Hey so while I was unscrewing the pan off my car the bolts were rusted to hell so when it came out I had to cut some of the bolts to be able to get it out but now I don’t know what those replacement bolts would be and I’ve looked everywhere online and I can’t find it, please help

      you need a thread pitch gauge. and hole size gauge. many hardware stores have these in their hardware sections if you can take you bolt into the store. Many tap and die kits will come with thread pitch gauges. always do a visual comparison of the new and old hardware as well. the thread pitches should fit perfectly and be the same width.

    I bought this for my 2003 audi tt , and in this video it says to shift the gears ? How is that possible? If its a automatic all I can do is drive neutral reverse and sport mode and I can shift to triptonic mode but it wont let me go past 2nd gear on idle . What happens now?

    What if you took hoses off of the transmission cooler and put one hose in the new fluid and the other in a waste bucket and run the engine until it comes out red.

    About How much Atf should drain out when you do the fluid check?

    • @boomerguy9935
      @boomerguy9935 2 года назад +3

      I followed this procedure when I bought my new-to-me 2008 VW Rabbit and I wasn't sure how much fluid was already in it from the last service, so I wanted to be sure to put the correct amount in. I drained 2.5 quarts. I installed 4 quarts and ran through the whole procedure while checking the temperature with an IR gun and drained the excess while leaving the correct amount in.
      The next time I changed the fluid after 5K miles, I drained 2.5 quarts from my initial service. This tells me that 2.5 quarts is the correct amount of new fluid to install. I changed it one more time after 5K miles because the total capacity in the transmission is about 7 quarts (I believe) and I wanted to increase the ratio of new fluid. I skip the temperature check procedure and install 2.5 quarts of new fluid. Before I drive the car with the new fluid, I let the transmission warm up and run it through the gears with the brake on as prescribed.
      Since then,I've been changing the ATF at 30K mile intervals and my transmission always works perfectly and when I start it from cold, I let the rpm's drop to 800 before I put it in gear. It never bucks or shifts hard and it has 155K miles on it. I've tried different fluids meeting the VW G 055 025 Spec and my favorite is the Amsoil full synthetic OE ATF. It costs more but since I only change it at 30K mile intervals, I consider it as cheap insurance.

      Hi there George! The dry fill capacity specified by Volkswagen is 7.2 liters and the refill is 5.2 liters. We provide the appropriate amount of fluid depending on the vehicle application. My friend, do you have the pipe stick that goes inside the oil pan on the drain plug, to measure the fluid level? My car doesn't have, therefore I can't measure it properly because it drains out completely, way below the correct level.

    So 4.5 liters drained out .I changed the filter ,gasket, and put in 5 liters into my non dsg trans. I have a 2013 passat 2.5 auto. And around 3 liters came out . I did use OBDeleven for trans temp .
    Is 3 liters spilling out about right?
    Transmission runs and feels fine.

      It's too late now but next time just pour out the amount you drain into 2 one gallon bottles. Use the same amount to replace it.
      That's what I did for my tdi I had no shift issues. I have a 1.4 tsi now and I plan on doing the same.
