That dirt that you don't see, which is shown on the pad, is the stain from the hardwood floor. The hot steam is reactivating the stain, and you're removing a bit of the floor colour. Overtime the floor will lighten.
Just purchased this item, the worst item ever!!!!! Constantly vibrates and knocks throughout the operation and the steam is not constant. It spews out both water and steam intermittently. Steam never reaches high temperature as they claim, I'm able to place my hand through the steam without being scolded?!?!? Worst investment! Stay Clear! I should of listened to friends and family and purchased the H2O X5.
