I’ve been following your channel a while ago, to see how steel pieces turn into beautiful knives, usually before falling asleep, so without audio😂. Some time ago my 3-year-old son started to watch your videos with me. You are Mr Beard Guy to him. It became kind of a ritual for him before falling asleep, he “wants to watch Mr Beard Guy”. Thanks for that.
Just spray some white paint in to the canister. The titanium in the white paint will prevent the material of the billet to stick to the material of the canister bud. I promise you wont regret it. Great video, great knife.
Hi, been following you for a while. Onmy just Saw the episode of FIF that you won. Excellent job by the way. You have come a long way since by the looks of it. With your machines etc. I particularly like your use of using old sawblades also in Damascus. Thankyou for being an inspiration. From Australia 🇦🇺
I have been forging for about 3 months now but I have been going through a lot of drill bits. I also use reclaimed materials such as leaf springs and axles. What is the best drill bits that I should use to drill my pins with? What is the best pin size that I should use? Right now I have been using 3/32 brass pins.
While you do have a press, and a full size grinder, It’s reassuring to see how many of those specialty tools a lot of bladesmiths have (surface grinder, center scribe, power hammer, tig/mig welder, fixture table) you don’t have and still produce extremely good knives
Very cool it reminds me of the water worn crinoid fossils we find on the beaches here sometimes, super crisp build all round it looks fantastic I like that surface grinding attachment, the results are great. have you considered welding the spare pieces together in a different way, maybe in combination with some other damascus. thankyou for sharing this build.
@@FireCreekForge for sure, I am a never throw anything potentially useful away sort of person, but something I have made generally gets kept and used for something else. I hate wasting anything.
Do you have any plans for the other forged pieces, like a marking tool (kiridashi) or other similar small piece? Really cool build either way, that pattern is very pretty.
I've been wondering why makers of canister Damascus via a press never put the handle for the canister into the hardee hole of their anvil and give the ends of the canister a few hits with a hammer to ensure a good weld on the ends.
I've found that isn't necessary for something like the project in this video, but if the contents of the can were smaller peices with lots of powered steel then it could be helpful. I don't do it personally because it makes it more annoying to remove then canister, and I don't mind losing a little extra off the ends . I usally make my billets over sized anyway.

I've watched this a few times. Pick up new tips every time I do
I like that surface grinder attachment, that’s a good investment 👍
It's handy!

Мужик, Россия за тобой следит, спасибо за видео!!!!👍
Wicked pattern. Love watching your project vids.
Thanks!!
BEAUTIFUL !!
May I recommend a small sand blasting cabinet for cleaning canisters and metal. You will wonder how you worked without one after using it.
Cool pattern.
Thank you
Gorgeous blade!
Looks good
Beautiful Damascus pattern, rather unique. Would have
Love that pattern!
Thanks I appreciate it!
Another amazing award winning build!
Interesting pattern. Nice job.
I was cringing when you were slicing on the bandsaw..... Beautiful dagger...
Well done sir! I would like that!
Beautiful as always
Great work Capt
That pattern came out amazingly
Nice work 👍👍👍
Love the pattern. It appears to be similar to cable damascus pattern.
Could use the scrap sides of the damascus for guard pieces or end caps, maybe.
That is a beautiful dagger!
The finished pattern looks awesome!🔥
That looks pretty cool.
I think you could make a small paring or trout knife for the cut offs
Very nice!
Thanks!!
Another very cool knife
Thank you!
Cool. Really good work as usual.
Nice
I love twisted damascus daggers. Trying to design some of my own. Really good pattern.
Thanks!!
Man you make some beautiful knives
I always use a vernier to scribe for sheet metal, they are perfect for it. :-)
Thank you
Love your work 👍

Sweet
Amazing blade and a nice job again!! Somehow the color of the handle does not fit for me but the shape is good!! Keep on and thank you!!
Beautiful knife. Always amazing to watch a masterful artist at work. 😄😄
I've been seeing folks use thin stainless steel sheetmetal as liners to keep the billet from welding to the can....
Now im wondering what a canister full of various sizes and types of cleaned welding rod would look like..🤔

I am really impressed with how that pattern came out, good job man!
Thanks man I appreciate it!!
12:59 Have you ever use a syringe to put epoxy in the hole for the pin? It's a less messy way of getting the glue where you want it.
Nice work! The blade turned out awesome, and I like the handle. Gotta me honest, I'm not entirely sure about both of them together.
Very cool it reminds me of the water worn crinoid fossils we find on the beaches here sometimes, super crisp build all round it looks fantastic

Thanks for watching! I could use the left over bits in another canister at least.

Turned out great! Love your content. Keep up the good work
Looks amazing, another great piece. I just tried to purchase it but the transaction wouldn't go through. It kept showing try again later.
Looks like it went through, Thank you!
Nice
That turned out beautifully what kind of sheath did you go with for it
Thanks! Not sure on the sheath yet
It will keeel!!
How about using rods and Ball bearings? Or Rods and Fish hooks?
I wonder if you could drain the water bucket below your belt sander and harvest the metal shavings to make a blade.
Tried that before..!
@@FireCreekForge Do you have it in a video by chance?
Love your work.

👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
That blade looks awesome! What ever happened with you moving shops to Idaho or whatever
What were the black bits on the guard closest to the ricasso?
Some indentation left from hot fitting it.
There is a metal the welders college studey probably spelled wrong. But it is a work harden rod I believe this metal would make a nice Bowie knife😅
Noice
Working on your stone??
interesting, at first I thought it was a steel tube, but these are rods🤓
I kinda looked like cable Damascus
mmm, the old smiths never had power tools...............lol👍👍👍
But long ago they had apprentices...

pretty sure if you want to make authentic "damascus" anything you need at least 4 wives.
Beautiful. Love watching you Bro.
Any chance of forging a big tactical blade like the "cold steel" designs?
Thank you.
