    I’ve been following your channel a while ago, to see how steel pieces turn into beautiful knives, usually before falling asleep, so without audio😂. Some time ago my 3-year-old son started to watch your videos with me. You are Mr Beard Guy to him. It became kind of a ritual for him before falling asleep, he “wants to watch Mr Beard Guy”. Thanks for that.

    Just spray some white paint in to the canister. The titanium in the white paint will prevent the material of the billet to stick to the material of the canister bud. I promise you wont regret it. Great video, great knife.

    I have been forging for about 3 months now but I have been going through a lot of drill bits. I also use reclaimed materials such as leaf springs and axles. What is the best drill bits that I should use to drill my pins with? What is the best pin size that I should use? Right now I have been using 3/32 brass pins.

    While you do have a press, and a full size grinder,
    It’s reassuring to see how many of those specialty tools a lot of bladesmiths have (surface grinder, center scribe, power hammer, tig/mig welder, fixture table) you don’t have and still produce extremely good knives

    Very cool it reminds me of the water worn crinoid fossils we find on the beaches here sometimes, super crisp build all round it looks fantastic
    I like that surface grinding attachment, the results are great.
    have you considered welding the spare pieces together in a different way, maybe in combination with some other damascus.
    thankyou for sharing this build.

    I've been wondering why makers of canister Damascus via a press never put the handle for the canister into the hardee hole of their anvil and give the ends of the canister a few hits with a hammer to ensure a good weld on the ends.

    • @valleyforge1814
      @valleyforge1814 Год назад

      I've found that isn't necessary for something like the project in this video, but if the contents of the can were smaller peices with lots of powered steel then it could be helpful. I don't do it personally because it makes it more annoying to remove then canister, and I don't mind losing a little extra off the ends . I usally make my billets over sized anyway.
