The original servo was also metal geared. The metal spool and transmission gears are nice upgrades. New weakest link is probably driveshafts. I am nota fan of the servo or battery plugs though. The original was already very durable. Looks about same speed as original brushed.
Looks like a nice chassis, but the body seems oversized for the wheelbase and tires. Is this just an illusion on camera or is it really like that? FMS has really stepped up their game in the past year, very nice to see.
It doesn't look really out of proportion on camera though the tire size is probably about with the stock tire size for the full size truck would have been and since most of the full size versions of these vehicles have oversized tires by now The stock tires do kind of look small.
Yeah the tires that are on it are pretty accurate for what would have come on the full-size truck stock but since pretty much every truck currently on the road has oversized tires on it they do seem a little small.
FOC, sinusoidal startup... same same. Id assume this ESC might be closer to Injoras MBL32 (AM32) than it is to Furitek's super secret FOC firmware. Both perform amazing
Also the old brushed system w Flysky's ESC is the best slow crawl brushed system ive ever seen. This is an awesome upgrade but it was already pretty dang good.
Yeah their brushed systems were good but this is better. I've tried researching what the constant velocity feature actually is because it's not an inherent feature to FOC as FOC is just a more efficient way of spinning the motor. It's interesting though that the two features seem to usually go hand in hand.
@@DoRC for sure. it was super informative and even had some bashing to boot. also the comments section has a lot of good information too. look forward to checking out some more videos
It doesn't look quite as disproportionate in person. Bigger tires would help but to be fair the tires that are on it are probably closer to what the truck would have come with stock.
@@DoRC that's good to know. Plus I wasn't thinking about the fact that the links are probably slightly adjustable. Thanks for the reply. Aloha from Maui 😎🤙🏽
All is well and good but there's something very wrong about the body to chassis scale, it seems to me that the wheels need to be closer to the ends of the body . In my opinion its a Goofy look. The Trx4m high trail has the scales near perfect. Am i wrong? Btw i was just looking at some other options for around the same price range and guess what, Redcat has the Everest 10 and the much cheaper Danchee available on amazon as well. Both are a Far better option as crawler than this Fms.
There's two things that contribute to the way that wheels look. One is that they're smaller than most people would expect even though they are actually to scale for the stock size tires on this vehicle originally. People think they're look small because everybody runs oversized tires on their full size vehicles. The other one is that the arms move the wheels toward the center of the vehicle as they droop. This is a normal function of the four link system. Overall the wheels are centered in the wheel wells at rest and they are technically the correct size for the vehicle. As far as options like the danchee those are one 10th scale vehicles and don't really compete with these little crawlers. They're kind of used for two different purposes.
Personally I’m more of a fan of the protek trutorque bits. I’ve found them to be just as good as the MIP drivers, as in I’ve rounded both off to the point of being unusable with time. With MIP charging basically the same to re grind your old bits, there’s no real advantage I see to going with MIP.
Yeah I'm sure there are other good brands out there I've just had excellent luck with MIP. I honestly don't know how people round MIP bits off. I've had my current 2 mm bit for probably 5 years now and have used it nearly daily in that time. It still looks basically new.
Maybe a tiny bit but in person when the suspension is actually compressed properly it looks fine. The four-length nature of the suspension means that the wheelbase shrinks as the suspension extends so that can make it look kind of silly depending on how it's sitting.
I want to want it..... But as someone with the max smasher and the high speed brushed motor.... nah.... I think I'd rather just buy a TRX4MT and throw the high speed motor in there. At least with that platform I have some options for gearing...
Interestingly they're pretty close to accurate as far as a stock original vehicle would have been. Most people these days have to put larger tires on theirs so stock size tires look kind of silly.
@@DoRC I mean compared to the 2nd ESC you put in, to have programmability over the drag brake and all, maybe its AM32 based for all we know haha, like the Injora mbl32. AM32 esc can be had cheap nowadays, a barebone one is under 10 bucks loool
I’m so glad to watch! Thank you! I got one of the Fair RC Mods and I’m so so happy with it !
Yeah I need to try one of those out.
Very good video man. I like your style and the explanations and when you unscrew the parts and show us how they are made. Very very good job.
Thanks Glad you enjoy! These crawler videos don't usually get a lot of views but people who watch them seem to like them so I'll keep doing them :-)
Another FMS I wouldn't mind having... 😅
It's definitely a sweet truck.
Wow, 2 time better than before, now it a real contender for the competition :)
Yeah it's definitely a sweet truck.
Those front lights are so scale. 👍🏽
That nylon spur looks Fisher Price though. That white nylon is very soft.
It has held up to 50% more power than the truck was designed for so I think it'll be okay.

Okay yeah I wasn't sure about the servo. I looked up the part number and it cross referenced to a plastic one. Thanks for clearing that up.
I need this WITH MONSTER TRUCK WHEELS 🤩🤩🤩
That would be sweet!
Awesome tear down as always!!!
Thanks glad you enjoyed :-)

Needs a bigger wheel and tires like 1.2 or 1.3. Overall that brushless upgrade makes the whole truck better.

the manual says the protocol is fs-2a vs the ant you mentioned, should work with a gt5 or even the mt12
Gotcha!
im here after watching discipline RCs review .
Awesome welcome to the channel :-) Hope you like deep technical dives!

@naptime43x definitely plenty more to come!
so wth, why not have a metal spur gear since the friggin metal gear kit comes with one??
I'm not sure. The plastic one seems strong enough but I was also expecting to see a metal spur.
Do I comment to much? I comment on every video that I watch of yours (mostly)
Absolutely not. This channel literally exists so I can interact with you guys. Keep it up!
A permanently locked differential is called a spool. Kind of like how a 2d globe is called a map or an unlit campfire is called firewood. 😋😋
Thanks for the info :-)
Who pulled your string? 😂
@@redndeyeshe's always a toolbag.
380mAh seems awfully small
It's a small battery but the truck doesn't really use a ton of juice so you get a decent length bashing session out of it curb
I accidentally got sent beadlocks for scx24. Guess I'm supposed to buy one now 😁
That sounds like a reasonable evaluation of the situation:-)
Super epic truck but the wheelbase is too short. It looks Goofy 😂

The wheel base is to short for the body, or vise versa

Yeah upgrade options are definitely one of the limitations of a vehicle like this.
"Basher"? It should last about 20 minutes if you bash it.
What do you mean?
I love the performance of mine, but they just look so goofy 😅

Put an AM32 ESC for slow crawl
I'm honestly not sure it's possible to crawl more slowly than this thing already does out of the box. At its slowest you can barely see it moving

@daijoubu4529 ah ok. I understand. Yeah my experience and knowledge with these little guys is pretty limited. They are fun though!
Bro, you just cost me an LC80 already. I can't....why is my wallet in my hand?!
It's a cool truck!
Same platform for years change up the frame and that two speed setup that's old already keep going fms someday
The two-speed set of has been around a while but it's still a rarity in this scale.
My blazer was brushless a long time ago fms is finally catching up not interested
A different brand or an upgrade kit?
