i just don´t get why they refuse to add the commander again...i know you can use points in squad now but...it´s not the same!
The commander portion only worked if you had a good commander, which was 10% of the case. It's not necessary and didn't bring anything good to the game, hence its gone. Deal with it you nostalgia glasses wearing regressive apes.

the commander was great and even a bad UAV is better than no UAV from time to time!

Man, I miss this game. The sounds, music, gameplay, I feel like this game had it all. You want fast paced combat or mid-paced combat? Enter a server with a high player count or where the players tend to concentrate on an area for the fast paced, or a middle player count for mid-ranged pace. You want to play as a tactical sniper, a black ops infiltrator to sabotage enemy equipment, or front lines soldier? It's up to you.
I think the newer BF games really narrowed their gameplay choices. It's all about the CoD action now, and not about letting you choose your own play style.
That is exactly what bothers me with the new games, after a respawn you had some time to breath because it took some time to get back to the fighting area, or you could try sneaking around distracting by taking a enemy flag and than defend that position with your squad. also the narrowing down of the classes is annoying because who can do what isfeels so random, a medic with an AP mine? what the...
@@Tank23333 Seriously. I felt it not only relied on team work, but also allowed for a a number of different scenarios and it gave you a chance to orient yourself when you respawned. I liked that BF2 had specialized classes to suit each players style.....man I wish this game was still around, or at least something like it. I miss the days you could sneak in and be tactical in addition to going in guns blazing.

The game will keep on living as long as the modding community is still active.

It was the best game I played in my whole life, I have thousands of hours in this game and I do not regret anything. I am so happy to have been able to play this game in my childhood. now I see it and feel nostagia. I can die peacefully knowing all the beautiful moments that happen in this game
Ranking up was an actual grind in this game, 24/7 karkand infantry only servers were my childhood
I sure miss that commander role, it was awesome when a competent commander had a view on the entire field and could direct the battle.
The good thing was that if your team didn't listen, you could roll out and take over control points yourself, uav and artillery and it's done 😂

There are more people playing Bf2 online each day than there are playing Bf3 on PC online each day. And before Revive shut down, there was way more people playing Bf2 each day.
Bf2 is the best game in the series, and the last one made before EA bought DICE. Maybe there's a correlation, there.
David true, I was playing when the revive shouted down in September 2017~ , there were around 1000 online that time. Even more than in bf2bc and hardline… I really think that if the gamespy servers wouldn't shut down in 2013, the online in bf2 would be even more than in bf3… considering that this game is free, and runs on all PCs. And even though the game is 2005 , I have more fun playing it, than some kind of shit like bf1... Let's hope, that some day, there will be battlefield good as bf2.

The daily Revive Battlefield 2 player number was even higher, from what I saw: Around to 1,500 and growing in the later days of Revive.
@@David-ob2gn Im not talking about total daily online, im talking about online in a certain moment. The maximum daily online i saw was 8000~, something like that. I was talking about 1000 people playing at the same time. I would even play sometimes now btw, but sadly there is only one infantry server atm, and it is Karkand 24/7, i think i will have a headache after 3-4 hours of the same map.

Think of all the things you could have done in life but instead you wrote this, what's wrong with encouraging viewers to like my video and subscribing to my channel for "more battlefield content" acting like I made a crime on "my channel". This was more when DICE rly controlled it.
That's probably because it was more a case of the Desert Combat BF1942 mod team creating BF2 rather than DICE (or EA).
The funny thing is making a decent game for these big companies is not hard at all. All they have to do is look back in history and set what gameplay mechanics worked

Anybody remember Joint Operations: Typhoon Rising?
Joint ops is a hidden gem. Few will remember it because it was a game before its time. It was battlefield before battlefield.
I liked it for its realism and large open maps. A sniper could one shot you from a mile away. Most bullets took one or two shots to kill you. No medpacks, you were either alive or dead, rarely in between.
However back when Joint Ops came out people were not used to or aware of such large scale games, and high bandwidth internet was no so widely available so the game never reached it full potential. Not a lot of people played it. I still have the game in my steam account and play it for nostalgia.

I really loved this game! Forgotten how many hours I spent in BF2.
This really hasn’t been improved upon. Absolute best multiplayer battle ever made. Especially the commander format, which was pivotal in a match when you had good players on both teams. All I ever used to do was fill the commander role. The worst was when some tosser would deliberately fill the role then refuse to use any of the command actions...just to wreck his own team and make them lose. Without mods present to stop this it was impossible to play properly.
Good memories. I spent plenty of time here. Karkand was my second favorite map. Eight years...... eight years BF2....

Old but gold, best map, best game. Those was the days when gaming was fun.
Still my favorite Battlefield. It was/is perfect because the visuals are good, but not so good that all the detail makes it hard to spot enemies. Since everyone can see each other clearly, there is more of an emphasis on strategy. Wish I knew how many hundreds of hours I played it back in the day.

This just hit me really hard. I remember playing this game when I found out one of the men in my platoon died.
I can't remember the last time I played this but I made it to 3 star general, with all awards unlocked, and was in the top 400 for AAA before EA canceled the GameSpy servers. I got 5 years of entertainment out of BF2 and 5 weeks of disappointment from BF3 then I left the series. The only thing I don't miss is the TV missiles blasting me from a mile away, other than that I would still jump on if this game still worked.

God damn, this server is empty. I remember the 64 player matches on constantly filled servers. You basically had to wait ages to get in, but you stayed for the whole day because it was so fun.

Bf3 looks better than Bf3 and Bf1. Bf1 is the worst game in the Bf series, and Bf3 was pretty bad, too. Bf4 is great, though. However, Bf4 still isn't as good as Bf2.
