This game is one of the best game in my life. Though I might feel inconvenience at many parts of the game if I play now. I wished BF series had evolved remaining like this game.
It had amazing commander and artillery system. Me and my mates used to play as SF operators who would C4 enemy infrastructure and artillery. Fucking awesome game

Man, I miss this game. The sounds, music, gameplay, I feel like this game had it all. You want fast paced combat or mid-paced combat? Enter a server with a high player count or where the players tend to concentrate on an area for the fast paced, or a middle player count for mid-ranged pace. You want to play as a tactical sniper, a black ops infiltrator to sabotage enemy equipment, or front lines soldier? It's up to you. I think the newer BF games really narrowed their gameplay choices. It's all about the CoD action now, and not about letting you choose your own play style.
That is exactly what bothers me with the new games, after a respawn you had some time to breath because it took some time to get back to the fighting area, or you could try sneaking around distracting by taking a enemy flag and than defend that position with your squad. also the narrowing down of the classes is annoying because who can do what isfeels so random, a medic with an AP mine? what the...
@@Tank23333 Seriously. I felt it not only relied on team work, but also allowed for a a number of different scenarios and it gave you a chance to orient yourself when you respawned. I liked that BF2 had specialized classes to suit each players style.....man I wish this game was still around, or at least something like it. I miss the days you could sneak in and be tactical in addition to going in guns blazing.
The commander portion only worked if you had a good commander, which was 10% of the case. It's not necessary and didn't bring anything good to the game, hence its gone. Deal with it you nostalgia glasses wearing regressive apes.

dude, BF2 and PR have a special place in military multiplayer games. I wish they went towards the concepts developed in this game. Creativity was huge...(apart from the nade-jumping spam....could live without that)

They only need to bring THIS squad and commander system back. Then we have the teamplay BF2 and 2142 gave us and was lost in BFBC2. Will still buy BF5 because it plays good
Omg...now sitting here on the Couch with a tiny smart phone in my hands enjoying the ride of great memories when everything was so basic but much more fun...times change so quick but it's awesome still feeling every movement and every Sound of the past gaming experience 😊
The game will keep on living as long as the modding community is still active. Heck even DOOM 1993 is still kicking in 2018 with tons of new mods every year.

There are more people playing Bf2 online each day than there are playing Bf3 on PC online each day. And before Revive shut down, there was way more people playing Bf2 each day. Bf2 is the best game in the series, and the last one made before EA bought DICE. Maybe there's a correlation, there.
David true, I was playing when the revive shouted down in September 2017~ , there were around 1000 online that time. Even more than in bf2bc and hardline… I really think that if the gamespy servers wouldn't shut down in 2013, the online in bf2 would be even more than in bf3… considering that this game is free, and runs on all PCs. And even though the game is 2005 , I have more fun playing it, than some kind of shit like bf1... Let's hope, that some day, there will be battlefield good as bf2.

I was talking about 1000 people playing at the same time. I would even play sometimes now btw, but sadly there is only one infantry server atm, and it is Karkand 24/7, i think i will have a headache after 3-4 hours of the same map.
The funny thing is making a decent game for these big companies is not hard at all. All they have to do is look back in history and set what gameplay mechanics worked

Overwhelmed by nostalgia, loved this game. When a tank rolled down that road everyone scattered like rats and started throwing landmines. Decent squads on your team and a decent Commander made sure you won on this map.

BF4 was the peak of Battlefield. Even though the game had a rough start (mainly because it was unfinished). But after 2 months, the game was beautiful. Still is!
Hands down one of the best FPS games I've ever played. Very few game give me the heartache of nostalgia like this one does. Especially with how casual and commercialized Battlefield went....sigh...
I honestly like this dispersion, current FPS is filled with people firing continuously in full auto with stupid accuracy. This game simulates the randomness due to stress, different levels of training and punishes full auto fire. Hearing a massive firefight with people firing in controlled bursts is music to my ears.
Joint ops is a hidden gem. Few will remember it because it was a game before its time. It was battlefield before battlefield. I liked it for its realism and large open maps. A sniper could one shot you from a mile away. Most bullets took one or two shots to kill you. No medpacks, you were either alive or dead, rarely in between. However back when Joint Ops came out people were not used to or aware of such large scale games, and high bandwidth internet was no so widely available so the game never reached it full potential. Not a lot of people played it. I still have the game in my steam account and play it for nostalgia.
Wich was a good thing many players played medic wich made me get revived and revive others way more than in bf3/bf4/bf1, all classes really had their perks, nobody played anti tank or engineer on a infantry only, their was always a moderate amount of snipers, i personally only had positive k/d ratio with support that was my speciality usually when me and friends played a 6 man squad we where 4 medics one sniper and me as support

WTF are you on about? BF3 better than BF4? BF3 had no commander, smaller maps and more CQB including an entire CQB DLC. Mate you have no idea what you're talking about.

BF3 has better maps and better artstyle (except the sun flare). I still prefer BF4 over BF3.
BF4 was the peak of Battlefield. Even though the game had a rough start (mainly because it was unfinished). But after 2 months, the game was beautiful. Still is!

Hands down one of the best FPS games I've ever played. Very few game give me the heartache of nostalgia like this one does. Especially with how casual and commercialized Battlefield went....sigh...
I honestly like this dispersion, current FPS is filled with people firing continuously in full auto with stupid accuracy. This game simulates the randomness due to stress, different levels of training and punishes full auto fire. Hearing a massive firefight with people firing in controlled bursts is music to my ears.
Greatest game of all time. Ahh, the nostalgia.
Anybody remember Joint Operations: Typhoon Rising?
Joint ops is a hidden gem. Few will remember it because it was a game before its time. It was battlefield before battlefield.
I liked it for its realism and large open maps. A sniper could one shot you from a mile away. Most bullets took one or two shots to kill you. No medpacks, you were either alive or dead, rarely in between.
However back when Joint Ops came out people were not used to or aware of such large scale games, and high bandwidth internet was no so widely available so the game never reached it full potential. Not a lot of people played it. I still have the game in my steam account and play it for nostalgia.

The medic guns were so damn op
Wich was a good thing many players played medic wich made me get revived and revive others way more than in bf3/bf4/bf1, all classes really had their perks, nobody played anti tank or engineer on a infantry only, their was always a moderate amount of snipers, i personally only had positive k/d ratio with support that was my speciality usually when me and friends played a 6 man squad we where 4 medics one sniper and me as support
