"I''am a world before I was a man..." = As a kid you think the world revolves around you, but when you grow up you realize that there is a lot more to life.
I never got that. I always thought it meant that there is so much more to me than being a man and the troubles that go with it. And that the song is a reminder to himself (us) to never lose sight of that in our struggles.

There are studies that show people who listen to Metal are more mentally stable - there is something about metal that allows us to release our negative feelings when listening to the music. What you say makes sense.

Guys, I'm saying that Slipknot nowadays It's a cover band of theirselves. There's no Slipknot without Paul and Joey. And the way they treated Chris is just obnoxious. Now is just Corey's plaything.

Slipknot is the perfect balance of heavy and melodic. There will never be another band that takes that top spot for me. The good times, the bad times, the depression, the success. They've been there with me through it all and because of that I'll always be there for them. Maggots for life.
while I can't say that I am their fan. Haven't listened or followed most of their stuff. But this song is nonetheless a masterpiece. and for me personally , don't know why but it makes me emotional and makes me think a lot of things about life

Usually during Rock/Metal reactions Lex will take a moment or so to figure out a song or some lyrics. As soon as this song started, Lex was into it, and between the head moving and body swaying, did not stop moving unless Brad had to pause. So fun to watch.

@@quinndavis I dont think it’s challenged into discomfort. It’s intentional avoidance, or intentional slow exposure. Maybe even suppressing emotions. You can even see after its over hes bouncing back and forth to the beat. While theyre discussing it. Lol I thonk he doesnt know how to feel. Which is what hes figuring out. “Angry ? Positive ? Could something so angry be positive ?” Lol Admittedly though. Slipknot is not exactly easing your way in to the metal scene. Lol

@@quinndavis right. I wouldn’t expect him to visually “loosen up” a lot more though. I still do little more than a slight head nod to the beat. Just not the go crazy personality type. Its always good to see people expanding their horizons. That’s what got me watching reactors. The faces when they realize its not all just noise. Priceless

Growing up I never thought I would be the “kind of person” to be into Slipknot, but honestly, as a 41 year old woman, they’re one of my favorite bands now and Corey Taylor can sing his freaking face off!

@@HellBrYnger heck yea, I never thought I would find myself watching them, but assuming most reactors are honest when they say it's their first time listening to certain songs, it always puts a smile on my face when people are into those songs.

What I find funny is that sometimes I can't tell if Brad is rockin to the song, or if Lex is rockin so hard that she's moving Brad along with her 😂😂😂. Love the reactions and interpretations.
I love watching their reactions because it is allowing me to live vicariously through Lex experiencing metal again and falling in love with the genre all over again.

This is like my fifth slipknot reaction I’ve watched of yours. Not only do I appreciate the digging into the meaning, but I can’t recall ever seeing someone smile so much listening to slipknot.
Glad we get to be part of the journey of someone getting into slipknot, and actually watching the heart and mind open up to music many disregard as “angry people” music.
"Isn't the mission always death?" - Lex summing up every conflict in the world.
That weird bit at the end was actually the start of the next song. The two tracks run together on the album
This is a super fun song. One of the less extreme Slipknot songs. Such a beautiful sounding track. Should be in everyones top 10-15 favorites from Slipknot.
Totally agree...it's one of my favorites if not my favorite...but usually the song has to speak to me on a personal level...which is why Before I Forget, Nero Forte, Wait & Bleed, Snuff are my favorites....and I know for some "fans" it's the "pop" sounding stuff. Melody shouldn't be discounted either...it's their sense of melody that sets them apart from other bands
Scissors and Purity are probably my top two.
Many people don't seem to like it and yeah many others are better but this is still a really solid song
The ending was actually a sample of their other song vermillion. The story goes; while they were recoding their third album a few members of the band had ghost experiences in the houdini mansion. One of them was while they were in the recoding booth the sample that you heard suddenly started playing on its own on loop. It freaked everyone out so they hit record and added it to the end of before I forget.
This song won a Grammy for them

Loved the reaction as usual. Lex caught that vibe!!! Slipknot is my favorite group of all time. A quick listen and you might think Coreys lyrics are shallow but I have always enjoyed diving into the message with them.
The key here is " all I ever do is delay". We know we're going to die, so its justifiable to naturally delay "living", whatever living is to you. The song is a timeline. The bridge in the song is the moment in a person's life when they begin contemplating their existence and "the end". Anything can be justified in an individual's mind with the thought that they may be dead soon.
I'm a recent subscriber to your channel, and I've only watched your slipknot reaction videos. I'm a Huge fan of music and I listen to anything and everything. I also follow quite a few channels that do reaction videos and I must say I truly enjoy yours . Music is one thing that will always be open to interpretation regardless of what genre it is . I would recommend Mushroomhead, very similar vibe to Slipknot but unique in their own way. Their songs qwerty and solitaire unraveling are great

I just bought tickets to go see Slipknot in their home town this month! I'll be driving from central Texas to Iowa and camping in my truck along the way lol. Then seeing them again in late October in Austin! I really hope you guys get out to a Slipknot show on this tour!

I always saw this song as an affirmation toward life. The world is more than you can comprehend and you have only one shot at it.

I love watching reaction videos! But I have never quite managed to find someone who feels the same energy as Lex does, and im loving it! I'm also loving Brad's persistence to find the meaning behind the song's lyrics! I always struggle to get the right understanding of a song, so seeing Brad ask questions like he's doing is just amazing! also love the comment section because you guys are on point with your descriptions and meaning behind songs! much love to all of you!

Slipknot isn't just heavy music screaming and anger. While usually dark, their lyrics are surprisingly deep. Whether personal, existential or spiritual, they have something that will connect with everyone intellectually if you take the time to really listen. It's one of the reasons I loved old rap and hip-hop. They either talked about real shit or were just having fun. There's a primal purity in good metal that people that are not exposed to it just don't seem to understand. That being said, of course there are songs that just don't make any sense, but the music is still good. That's true for any genre.
Lex, love your energy. Don't hold back, just let the music free you and enjoy the moment. You're feeling it. 👍🏾🔥

that sound at the end was the transition to the next song. entire album is a flow from one to the next song, endings wrapping into the beginning sounds of the next song. This album is super artsy and the music videos reflect that!
I've watched my fair share of reaction channels since 2016 and you guys are by far my favourite. watching Lex dance to the song was so much fun. pure joy.
its a shame you didn't watch the amazing music video for this song coz I think you would've loved it and gotten a real kick out of how they did it but I guess if you're also trying to take in the lyrics for a channel like this it might be too distracting to do both at the same time.

The song is a reminder to not get too big for your own head. We're all equal regardless of what society leads you to believe. “My end - it justifies my means. All I ever do is delay my every attempt to evade” - No matter how much you try to fight it, try to rise above it, at the end of the day, you’re like everyone else.

Here in Greenville SC they had to retire Before I Forget from the countdown cause it was #1 for several months . Almost like a year. Killer song still!!!
The mission is to stave off death as long as possible and live the best you can while you can. The world you experience is yours and yours alone but as man, we are only individual parts in a grander organism that exists because of all it's diverse parts. But all organisms die. The importance is to die after fulfilling your life.
