  • On this episode we checkout what I will boldly proclaim as the new Gold (or should I say Titanium) Standard in affordable mechanical field watches. At just under $300, there's no reason why The BOLDR Venture shouldn't make it into anyone's collection and at it's 38mm size, there aren't too many wrists it would look and feel great on. BOLDR's last two releases have really just blown be away in the metal, you see the pictures and think you have the watches figured out, then you get them in hand and on wrist and just find so much more to love. Honestly, so impressed with these, I just might have to pick up some other dial color options for me or my Sons. Let me know what you all think in the comments below, thanks guys!

    Absolutely simple killer field watch. Solid Seiko Auto built light in titanium with great lume , sapphire at a bargain. Can’t really beat a little over a couple hundred bucks for this warm tightly cased bad boy.
    I am a definitely a fan of this. Just pulled the trigger on one.
    Thanks for the video !

    Great honest review, I own the Blue face Venture and absolutely love it, the strap in came with did not work for me, I also tried cutting it to find a better look and messed it up, tried several other straps that didn’t appeal to me until boldr came up with the new Titanium bracelet, I got that and it’s amazing, super lightweight and different; I also own the Hamilton khaki field automatic, (very similar to the mechanical) and is is just as beautiful, the price of the Venture is much better than the Hamilton but they’re 2 different watches, i know lots of watch enthusiasts pay lots of attention to the lume on watches, I’m not one of those, yes, the lume looks great but how many people actually like to see the time in the dark? in the end it’s all subjective...

    I have the original Expedition Everest. Great watch. I had an issue with it under warranty, and Boldr handled it very well. Overall very happy with it and Boldr.

    I had the Marathon Navigator, got rid of it because it's not waterproof. Had the Hamilton Khaki got rid of it because its allergic to water. Bought the Boldr Venture.....happy. The venture is the real deal.

    I have the Hamilton khaki auto. Awesome watch, have worn it nearly everyday for two years now... but I'm afraid of the water with it. Afraid to take it in the shower or a dip in the pool. With this 20bar water resistance it solves the khakis problem. Not to mention this watch also has a sapphire bezel and a quality movement. When you factor in the titanium housing and superior lume. Kind of makes it a no brainer for a daily... oh and the price? As low as $250?! Buying one now

    Recently purchased Hamilton Khaki Field Mechanical watch with the olive green dial with date function. I’ve really enjoyed wearing this and probably gets the most wrist time amongst my collection which includes Rolex, IWC, etc. this is the first manual wind watch I’ve owned and probably the best “value” watch out there. Highly recommend getting this.

    Marine?! Thanks for your service! Having said that, while I enjoyed the video and think it’s a great little watch, I don’t think it’s a khaki killer by any stretch.

    I have to laugh when the Seikophiles talk down about this brand because the watches are made in Malaysia. Seiko does the same. Seiko also manufacture in The Philippines and China. Anyway, I think Boldr makes exceptionally good watches.

    I just can’t understand why the hamilton is appealing to people. It looks great but for that price I should be able to swim with my watch. 50mr water resistance is and always will be a deal breaker

  • @spoketube

    So much to love. But 14mm thick, plus the strap, gives pause. I’m tempted, and its an interesting alternative to an Archimede Outdoor Protect. But if it doesnt seem like a keeper for me, it’ll be due to its thickness.

    • @willembakker7999
      @willembakker7999 3 года назад

      Its actually 12 mm

    • @spoketube
      @spoketube 3 года назад +1

      At one point in time, they said 14mm. They probably meant with the two layers of NATO strap underneath, which represents how it’s actually worn. But using a single pass strap could at least get it down around 13mm on wrist. No worse than a Seiko dive watch.

    • @BrewReview
      @BrewReview 2 года назад

      You can always thread your NATO differently and cut out 2mm at the very least from the total thickness. However it’s more like 12mm now (maybe was 14 at the kickstarter) and that isn’t really all that thick considering. I have 6.25” wrists and frequently get away with a Sinn 356, a heavier and vastly thicker wearing piece. I’d say those fears are largely unfounded, go for one!

    Since this watch is using a NH35A, is there a ghost position for the date adjustment?

    • @Mister_Phafanapolis
      @Mister_Phafanapolis 4 года назад +1

      There must be. The NH38 is the no-date three hander. Using a date movement in a no-date watch is a bit of a bush league move.

    • @porschephile2k3
      @porschephile2k3 4 года назад

      @@Mister_Phafanapolis totally agree. Microbrands already have an uphill battle versus the big boys of watchmaking. They're not doing themselves any favor by creating a half-assed watch that does not have a proper movement in it.

    • @Mister_Phafanapolis
      @Mister_Phafanapolis 4 года назад +2

      @@porschephile2k3 Lum-Tec, Octon and Zelos also use date movements in no date watches. And I believe Tag Heuer also has done or does this currently. It's completely bullshit.

    Decrease water resistance to 10bar and reduce thickness...
    14mm is too thick.

    • @hogonee

      @@shotgunmcshotgun1142 I think 14mm is too thick. I think thickness is more important than waterproof for Field Watch.

    • @shotgunmcshotgun1142

      P Anonymous don’t need to recuse the water resistance to make it thinner, I prefer a higher water resist so I don’t need to put on a g shock to go swimming

    • @hogonee
      @hogonee 4 года назад +1

      @@shotgunmcshotgun1142 I respect your opinion. I like to distinguish between field watch and swimming watch. If the watch is thick, it gets stuck on my sleeve and it's uncomfortable. I like put on a g-shock when I swim. It's just my personal opinion.

    While it is a nice watch it's not the khaki beater. I've owned both and ended up giving the Boldr (quartz) to my daughter, just never connected with it and it never beat the Hamilton in terms of wrist time.

    • @AverageBros
      @AverageBros  4 года назад +4

      Well I've owned a Khaki mechanical for a really long time and the lack of AR coating and WR have kept it off the wrist, so the Venture wins out for me.

      @Christopher Wood -MDH- The Hamilton without screw down crown fails as a field watch, sold mine, as many others from leaking issues, so the Boldr does beat the Hamilton by quite a bit, in my opinion of course

    It is only 12.4mm thick. Their website is wrong and shows 14mm. You ’re a bit lazy and should have used your own calipers for measuring
