    My favorite race game ever!
It has everything. Just finishing the hardest Circuit isnt easy because of the AI in this race game is set to "rubber band". Rubber banding is a system that tries to maintain the tension and thrill of the race by keeping the AI characters around the player. So doesnt matter how good you are driving , if you crash you will pretty much always fall behind, wich can especially be a pain in the ass at the finish in Metro Madness level (lol). The 100 points per track divided in 2, 5 and 10point boxes gives it a complete secondary gameplay and is a very smart way to make sure players are going to look for all the amazing short cuts they made, its almost a second track inside a track with all these short cuts. Thee short cuts are super creative , some are very hard to take and some shortcuts have shortcuts within them. The point boxes considerably increase the replay value while forcing the player to discover these shortcuts.
Then come the Flower boxes, they only show in championship mode wich forced me to spend alot of time looking for these while trying to finish to proceed to the next level , this was before internet so i had a blast looking around for them. Also, that flower box you get in wicked woods that hangs in the air is the hardest by far , its also the reason why speedrunners dont do a 100% completion category in this game. im still amazed that i even got that one back in the day , imagine playing all the way to the final circuit and then only have 3 shots to get it before you have to start all over. i just replayed this game on emulator and thank god for save states haha.
Dont forget this game was just to promote the new VW beetle car that came out, and it had 0 announcements or reputation or anything it just was there out of nowhere in my local rental shop and to this day im still blown away by this game, i highly recommend anyone to throw this on their PJ64 emulator , hook up a controller and have a blast again.
10/10 for me all day long!

Agreed with everything you said here! Just recently spent some time playing my cartridge of the game and now I'm running through it on an emulator. Even with save states, it's still pretty hard!
Here's the crazy part about this game. While it seemingly came out of nowhere, it did get the cover of Nintendo Power. The very same issue where they did their first story on Smash Bros! So, by that logic, they must have trusted that Beetle Adventure Racing were a safer bet than Smash.. which in hindsight seems insane!

When I bought the N64 this was my first cartridge, so I had to play it every day, lol.
It´s a hard game, if you are for 100/100 points and flowers, since you can´t commit mistakes with the side tracks. The "rubber band" spark tension all the time so you really feel that you must be "perfect" to beat the game. Great game, and they added a lot to the tracks, since there is only 6 of them.

Thank you so much! I've been playing this game for years and never found any of the daisy boxes except for the first one in the haystack!

I learned the cheat codes from the game, from Tips & Tricks Holiday Video Game Codebook from December 2002, but I played Beetle Adventure Racing on my Nintendo 64 in early 2003, during the Nintendo GameCube era, about 20 years ago. I was in 9th grade at Colleton County High School in Walterboro, South Carolina. I haven't tried this yet, but soon, By learning and entering a cheat code, race on the Coventry Code in Championship mode until you see a barn on the right side on the road with 2 haysticks in front of it. Drive thru the haystack on the left and the player will smash a hidden crate with a picture of a flower on it; you'll also hear a voice saying "Groovy!". Note that the crate will not be there unless you are playing in Championship Mode. Once you've smashed the crate, finish the race; the words "Cheat Menu Activated" will appear on the Player Results screen. Now return to the menu and access the Options screen; you'll find a new option called "Cheats" at the bottom. Each item on the cheat must be "unlocked" before the player can use it; you will unlock a new cheat each time you smash a flower crate in Championship mode. Some of these crates are very hidden, so you've going to have to do a lot of searching to find them.
