Since so many of you have watched my Toccata and Fugue video (THANK YOU), I asked what you'd like me to play next, and lots of you said more Bach. So, here you go!
Often known as Air on the G String, this popular piece has been transcribed by me for one harp using the original score for strings. Although it's a bit simpler and slower than something like BWV 565, this was still a great opportunity for me to practice my voicing, baroque ornaments and subtle dynamics, and as with any Bach, it's a pleasure to bring to life.
The location this time is very special to me - the concert hall at Hindhead Music Centre is actually the room in which I had my first encounter with a harp, and where I had my first lesson a few months later, followed by 11 more years of study and performance! HMC offers tuition in all instruments and caters for all ages and abilities during school term time, in addition to a range of residential courses throughout the summer. Being there was a wonderful platform for me to learn to play, with many opportunities to perform as a soloist and in chamber groups, and it continues to offer excellent tuition to this day.
    www.hindheadmusiccentre.co.uk
    Thank yous:
Ben Turk - Director, audio, post-production
John Hoskison - Camera op, post-production
Ann Hughes-Chamberlain for letting us film at HMC, and for 21 years of opportunities, inspiration and encouragement. I wouldn't be here without you. x

I just discovered Amy today, and I've been listening nonstop. She plays every song so damn well she could play the Spongebob theme song and I would enjoy eating a fancy steak to it.
    Keep playing, Amy.

Yes. more Bach is always good. I wonder what type occasion this song was written for ... It could be graduate commencement, communion, a solo for a young musician, or a prolog or epilog to a service. I like to think commencement. And what's pleasing about this piece is that there is more ear candy in the middle than there is at the beginning... 2:04 is the best part.
