The differences are basicly what the filter gets rid of.. for iracing you'd want to use a filter that smoothes the ffb, and for ac you'd want to use smth that helps the fine details (f.ex.). And these make HUGE differences..

I have been running the strength at 100% in the calibration tool though, Maybe I could set it up a bit better but I have been very happy so far. Never had an issue with the wheelbase.

    Massive upgrade and amazing wheelbase. I now have the 23nm simagic ultimate v3 and am just in heaven.
    Wiat until you oush the limits of grip and that snap comes inot play and your slides get caught everytime. Its amazing.
    Go in turn inertia and dampening down if you can. You will love it.
    Thing ive noticed with these stronger wheelbases are that you pick up on low mid and high frequencies so you can literally feel details that feel higher pitch then others so you get all of that information. My fanatec wheel and others never did that. Only bade i remrmber doing that is simucube. But I realize now most of these high end 20+nm wheelbases are good at it.

      @southy238 they are on revisions 3 and the bases literally are stamped v3 now lol it's absolutely incredible it's so fast and so snappy. The details are incredible this coning from someone who thought my newer dd+ was good but this thing is just on that level of simucube. So yeah it's also a base that proved to me I can't listen to others i have to try them myself to know. I'm so happy that simagic was the final base from a manu I've tried and I couldn't be happier. Come to fund out it's the feel I always look for. It just gelled. The loading and unloading when cornering is the best ive felt. Instead of being overly tight it has that slight give where you feel the edge and the motor working with you and boom it just snaps back with you. It's so so good it feels so smooth. Idk what they did but they are buttery smooth now. I did not expect that.
      I get why drifters enjoy simagic. That alone shoupd let people know they have always been faster then people think. But there is a reason why simagic has been so hot lately. And why the alpha is always sold out or on pre order. It's just that good and word is getting around.

      I'm using a csl dd 8nm.
      And am either going to the Simagic Alpha 15nm
      Or the CS DD+ 15nm, during black Friday.
      I don't need console support.
      And if Fullforce isn't a big deal to miss out on, I'll possibly go Simagic.
      Both seem to have good motors and good Quick releases.
      Not sure about overall FFB quality, but it seems the CS DD is slightly better in terms of fidelity.
      But coming from the CSL DD, I'm expecting either would feel better as I'm going from 8nm to 15nm of dynamic range, and both have smooth, fast, strong motors

    I would suggest turning the ffb strenght to 100% in the VRS calibration tool and just adjusting the gain to a lower level in-game. This will give you max headroom and detail. I can give you my settings for iRacing if your interested. the VRS is pretty tricky to set up in iRacing and you will get a very grainy and vibrating FFBl if you use any other filter than Optimal/Balanced.

    • @reviewforthetube6485
      @reviewforthetube6485 2 месяца назад

      Just not true it's been pretty well discredited now the best way to do it is to turn the base down to a specific % comparing to what you so in game and you want to be on that edge right before clipping which is where the most predominant details are at. Even race matters spoke on this saying he was in denial for years until he finally tried it and he agrees get much more details using the base at that power taking about 20nm bases or up down to 60 to 70% then going in game. Most details and games clip around 15nm anyways.
      But yeah been just a rumor for years on what some guy thought was best and people just ran with his prederence due to his dynamic range talks. All while forgetting about details right before clipping which is even more important for the absolute most detail. The same guy still uses pretty bad settings I won't mention who but he's not one I'll ever listen to. I still can't believe the racing community ran with that for so long. The feeling doesn't lie. We can say what should or shouldn't be but feel matters most and that's how you can tell forget about the rest.
      My 23nm base will never feel as good at 100% and lowering in game as it does at 70% and raising in game a little higher.

Was never satisfied with the results until I researched a bit and got to the method I use now. That was before the software update. I don't want to be ignorant about it though, and am willing to give it another try. In which race beyond matter video is he talking about it?

      @@____________________ok I mean it's worth thinking about. If you have a weak wheelbase then sure, go for 100% in the wheelbase software, but if you have a 20+Nm wheelbase you will never use 20+Nm. You will realistically use up to 15Nm maybe. I just gave it a try, set my VRS to 75% in the calibration tool and went up with the strength in the iRacing settings. The FFB actually really becomes more hectic/lively. So much for that,...but I have to admit that a less hectic wheel feels more realistic to me, which just happened to fall inline with the popular 100% approach. If you prefer more "detail", and "sharper spikes", then going for 70 or 75% seems to be the better choice. One more thing to think about is that I run a small rim (270mm) which will naturally lead to a subjectively stronger and sharper feel, and might influence my preference.

    • @MichaelSmithRaces
      @MichaelSmithRaces  2 месяца назад

      @mementomori4972 thanks for the discussion at the moment I have ended up around 70% on VRS and 55% in game, that is mostly because it worked and I was a little nervous about snapping my thin little wrists!! :D I expect to go up and up as when I got the R5 it felt like more than enough, but by the end felt far too weak. I agree with what you mentioned below about the wheel diameter because that made a huge difference in my ES vs KS comparison just 20mm creates a very different experience!

    I've had it narrowed down to Sim Magic, Simucube or VRS. Sim Magic is newer and not built quite as well I wonder as it has not passed the test of time and it only has a 1 year warranty. "100% Chinese" Mige Motors are Chinese but have passed the test of time many times over. Simucube is a decent rig and an industry standard. Like Simucube VRS's power supply components are also "Mean Well" brand parts inside. I'm really leaning towards the VRS! Simple, point blank. I have their VRS Pedals and just landed the clutch. I think I'm gonna land the VRS, I really do. My instincts are leaning towards that.

      @DragonFlySlayer-wf6ne I still have thoughts that maybe I should have got the simucube because its possibly slightly "better".. but the VRS is a rock solid bit of kit, I really love it and its similar in execution to the pedals, just works great. Its so much cheaper than the simucube for me it was quite an easy decision. Simagic only really a consideration if you want their wheels... other option to look at is asetek, being able to use their QR system might appeal to you, but to me I wanted to get out of having any 'ecosystem' at all.
