    So, my 65 year old father can handle the volvo infotainment system with ease, but it's too complicated for a motor journalist?

    • @Sniff420

    The S90 has far superior technology, you didn't even scratch the surface. As for the touch screen demonstration you provided, you pressed 'Adjust Headsup Display'. You can press that button as much as you want, but nothing is going to change on the main screen. It's the HEADS UP DISPLAY you are adjusting, so perhaps look at the head ups display in the windshield when you press the button lol. That is where you see the options to ADJUST the heads up display.

    • @dannonyogurt98
      @dannonyogurt98 7 лет назад +21

      Thomas m you literally saw the display change in the video after he hit the button a million times.

    • @thomasm9856
      @thomasm9856 7 лет назад +32

      dannonyogurt98 There are 3 sliding screens. Left is vehicle adjustment options(heads up adjust), centre screen for the main display featuring the (GPS, Media, Phone), Right screen is advanced options such as Apple Car play.
      After tapping the 'adjust heads up display button' multiple times continuously, the screen switched back to the main centre slider screen due to faulty user input.
      You switch between the three slider screens just like on an iPhone/iPad. With the centre screen being the default.

    It seems there is a lot of Volvo Cheerleaders leaving comments on here. So I’m gonna step in with some love for the Lincoln. I bought 2011 MKS 6 months ago and I have to say it has completely sold me on the Lincoln product. Luxury, styling, reliability, power✔️✔️✔️✔️. I test drove the Continental and I was completely sold! Dark horse is the appropriate analogy for these vehicles. No disrespect for the Volvo brand. But I personally would take the Lincoln over the S90 all day every day and twice on Sundays!

  • @craigs1180
    @craigs1180 7 лет назад +17

    Volvo makes the best seats in the business despite the lack of 30 adjustments. The real test is to drive 600-700 miles and see how you feel. Rides too firm? The interior's too noisy? I would much rather give up the "soft as a cloud" ride of an American "luxury" car to have a decent handling European. The Volvo's all wheel drive is front wheel biased while the Lincoln is rear wheel biased. That accounts for the difference in interior noise levels. That and the additional 500 pounds of sound deadening material in the Lincoln. I do like the styling of the Lincoln but other than that it seems like it's the typical bloated "Luxury" car the American auto industry loves to sell. I want a car that's going to give me 10-15 years of dutiful service, looks great and is a pleasure to own. Give me the Volvo please, hands down choice for me.

Unfortunately, I was unable to find one in your tester's color, which I really like. The trunk is closer to 13.5" cu ft. That higher figure you quoted included the area beneath the trunk where the spare tire is located. This is the last year for the 195" length. Next year, the S90 will be made in China and be the same length as the Continental.

    People like to criticize what they can't understand. The Volvo is so far advanced than any other vehicle out there. The best thing that ever happened to Volvo was ford selling it off. Ford was destroying Volvo just like it was destroying Landrover and Jaguar. Now look at all those companies since ford sold them they all have record sales. But to your point in comparison to the Lincoln Continental which in my opinion the Volvo sits in a category all by itself and the closest car that does come to it is the Audi a eight. With all the Volvos technology and about 95% of it is considered standard with all of the safety features and any other car you're paying thousands of thousands of dollars to add them as a luxury package safety package. And I know this because I was looking at the Audi and to get all of the standard stuff that's in the Volvo you have to pay thousands and thousands of dollars extra.you really make it sound as if though Lincoln Continental paid you for this review I really wish that you spent the time to understand that in a matter of seconds you push a button and you activated or deactivated that feature that you want. Again I would probably do an updated review if I were you because all it does is make you look on uneducated because Volvo specifically made that design to look cleaner . And I will repeat this the technology inside of the Volvos are by far far more advanced than any vehicle. And really you were pushing the heads up display button which all you have to do is push it and it works. Plus you failed to realize everything that you want to do is all voice activated as well now I will be honest with you not knowing what is white and how to use any feature takes a little bit of time and understanding and if I have to read an owners manual book for what 20 minutes to understand how to use all the technology I don't see a problem there.

      Just because you can afford the gas doesn’t mean you want to kill the environment with your daily driver. The reason, Tesla, hybrids and efficient luxury cars are popular right now. Lincoln should be embarrassed by its fuel economy the Porsche Panamera with almost 200 more horse power and under 3 second 0-60 gets better fuel economy. I’m sure a lot has to do with Lincoln’s outdated transmission verse most other luxury cars with 8 or 9 speed transmissions. Hell the Volvo XC90 t8 hybrid gets 53 mpg out of a 400 horsepower 3 row full sized suv and has an autopilot system, that’s technology in a luxury car. Not just some chrome to blind you from the poor outdated specs, my Mercedes had adaptive cruise in 2009 and my 2014 MB added lane keep and assisted steering to the adaptive, it’s 2018 and Lincoln barely has adaptive cruise forget any level of autopilot. All things a car in that price range people who have the money look for.

    Lincoln hands down. My sister bought a 70k Mercedes a 2016, has 17k miles on it now. She wanted to trade it in... worth 37k now. Wow so luxurious though, enjoy it cause you just took a 50% hit on it. No one wants Mercedes, BMW, Audi because they're in the shop a lot and cost at least 3 times your average American car to fix. Since people are scared of them the resale is crap! Not to mention $300 oil changes... get real! Just cause you have the money doesn't mean you want to spend it like an idiot! I bought my wife a used Lincoln MKX and it's been a wonderful vehicle for us. has been in the shop once for a sensor and they covered it under warranty. It has 140k miles on it now 110k of them put on by us... great vehicle, $50 oil changes and beautiful. You can have your overpriced crap and make fun of me all you want but I'll stick with Lincoln and I'll point and laugh at your maintenance and repair bills!

    • @charles-davidberube1174
      @charles-davidberube1174 7 лет назад +5

      Brian as far as i know, you make and oil change at least twice or more each year with American cars. Mercedes, audi, bmw, vw is once a year or every 20 000km. And a german oil change is not only an "oil change". they inspect the vehicle, change air filters, clean the disk brakes, etc. It's 300$ for a good reason.

    • @elyassogba4152
      @elyassogba4152 7 лет назад +25

    • @mikefey6262
      @mikefey6262 7 лет назад +15

      Charles, you must be European.... change the $5 air filter, clean the disc brakes? there's NOTHING that needs to be cleaned, they spray .25 cents of brake cleaner on them? If you want to pay $300 for $40 dollars worth of work.....go ahead.

    • @iSOBigD
      @iSOBigD 7 лет назад +5

      That's just silly, you listed things that usually don't get done or are worth almost nothing. Looking at a vehicle is free, an air filter costs a few dollars and anyone can change it after watching a quick youtube video, "cleaning" brakes without taking them off just means looking at them or spraying them, etc. Dealers legitimately charge 200-400$ for an oil change and nothing else on an Audi A5, which is by no means a luxury car or a poweful/fast car.

    • @charles-davidberube1174
      @charles-davidberube1174 7 лет назад +4

      Mike Fey cleaning the disk brakes isn't spaying them. They actually remove the calliper and sand down a tiny portion of the disk to give it the same braking performance it had when new without changing them. You do know a car doesn't only have an oil and air filter right? There's the cabin air filter and the fuel filter. I can assure you that an audi, mercedes, etc inspection is not your typical Chevrolet inspection. My mom's audi s5 went in for usual maintenance and while inspecting it inside out, they found oil in the coulant system caused by a small rock piercing a tube. There was no leak to indicate the problem. They had to change all of the fluids and the radiator was replaced. They don't simply go around the car with a flash light.
      Oh yeah, they also change the whippers, rebalance the car, clean the car. and all of this maintenance rendez-vous was made while you were home or at work. They come and pick up your car and bring it back when it done.
      And i'm sorry but it's impossible you got an oil change for 50$ and got all of the things i listed. The oil on itself is about 30$ plus the oil filters and labor.
      And remember, mercedes, audi, bmw, vw all use synthetic oil. It's double the price of your crappy conventional oil.

      Tully3674,
      Aside from the Mustang, trucks and Full-size SUVs, no Ford does not have V8 in anything.
      Cadillac has V8s in the Escalade and CTS-V. They do have a 4.0L TT-V8 waiting in the wings but they have not yet placed that engine, since it was originally planned for the stillborn CT8. Although a CT6-V would not be out of the question. Frankly Cadillac should use the TT-v8 for the CTS-V just to give it some distance on the Camaro ZL1 and Corvette Zo6/Zo7.
      But for the most part, the V8 is dead in Domestic Luxury passenger cars.

You're just saying what you're saying because you're biased or have some chip on your shoulder. Also, what you said about Genesis obviously isn't fair. They're a fine car, but they became what they are through imitation of other brands. I mean, since they are a luxury competitor, I could replace Lincoln with any other luxury car brand, Mercedes, Lexus, Volvo, you name it.

      Do not get me wrong, I do not think Genesis is a luxury car. I answered the last comment. I just noticed a funny fact. One automobile brand has a hundred years of heritage, and another brand has only one year, but they are considered as competitors. Lincoln is not a luxury car, because, this brand was bought by the famous Henry Ford, whom I really respect, he is the pedigree of cars for ordinary people. That's why Lincoln will never be a luxury car. It does not matter how many US presidents used for this brand. Mercedes, BMW are the quintessence of luxury cars, because, they were originally created for luxury and not everyone could buy them.

I would definitely say that some main things that make a luxury car are the low noise levels, soft suspensions, a good sound system, nice materials and features, especially for rear seats, and the Lincoln beats the S90 in all of those areas. It does however look like a traditional luxury car especially inside (which I like), where as the S90 looks a bit different.

      Premium Chinese made junk with a Euro name on it. Volvo is now Chinese owned and the S90 is made in China and exported to EU and US.

    you cannot adjust rear seats on this volvo! How can it be a premium car in this class?! Adjustments of seating position is real luxury because it provides you with a comfort you cannot get having whatever sort of nice material trims !
    Volvo clearly lost in this department .

      Peter The MKZ is a good car. But the 1969 Lincoln Continental was the smoothest, quietest riding car ever built, and it had an air conditioning system ages ahead of its time. My father had one, we’d drive from LA across the western states-Nevada, Wyoming, Montana and Minnesota, into Canada. The smoothness and luxury of that car on those trips, stays with me today. I loved the “porthole” window with the little light, in the back seat. And the 427 engine was fast! Nothing like it. My dad had other Lincolns after that but the ‘69 was the best.

    Shucks Almighty... that was a good review. While l was critical of the Lincoln designed as Bentley "light", the design has grown on me. Nice to see an American car proud of it's tradition (#noendosmentofcurrentpresident). Nice counter balance to the Volvo, with it North Euro style elegance.

    Lincoln all day. That car is a great to drive. You didn't mention that all 4 seats have massage. It also has a great panoramic sunroof. The Lincoln uses leather from Bridge of Wier, same leather used by Rolls Royce, Aston Martin, Bentley, Mercedes and Jaguar, also they upholstered the Queen Mary, Queen Elizabeth and Elizabeth II luxury ocean liners. so I call bullshit on the Volvo having better leather

    • @HoLeeShitUSA
      @HoLeeShitUSA 7 лет назад +5

      I'd hate to be Chrysler right now. Consumer Reports has them with 3 of the top ten worst cars of 2017, and 4 of the top 7 "I regret buying this car". Guess who isn't on those lists? Ford and Lincoln. Oh and Chevy claiming their "best initial quality" awards... that's basically a made up award that only covers the first 90 days of ownership, something to make people think it's amazing... plus their commercials have been poked full of so many holes, the titanic could stay afloat better than those.

    I recently had a chance to drive both (Thank you, Enterprise and Avis rent-a-car!) The S90 is far superior to the Continental in terms of driving dynamics and shockingly good fuel economy, but my choice for actual purchase would be the Lincoln because it did everything else so much better and it felt more like a premium luxury car than the Volvo, which was luxurious, but in a Buick Lacrosse sort of way rather than the Cadillac/Acura feel I got from the big Connie! Proof that big girls (I mean cars) really are more fun! 🙂
