Great video man. I absolutely love the C100 mkii, the image quality is amazing especially when combined with the Atomos Ninja Blade. I recently upgraded mine to the C500 for the price I brought it, 4k, 10bit and for a better overall cinema camera. But i still have a soft spot on my heart for the C100 mkii. Even though I have been curious about the BM ursa, i just have never been stoked about the colours produced by it. Canon have some special Kentucky ingredients that just make their colours POP 😊👍🏽. Keep up the good work man 👍🏽
We still use this camera alot for a great image, it's lean codec and fast turnaround going into 2020. When we need to do a doc requiring some color work, we just slap on an Atomos Ninja 2, record to 10bit 422. Still a relevant camera today and most likely into the near future.
@@EthanBares it's kind of 10 bit 422. For a better explanation, read this. It definitely grades better than the internal codec though. link.ntown.at/2014/02/05/canon-c100-ninja2-10-bit-workflow/
Okay, I’m convinced. Just ordered the C100 mark ii & took advantage of a $500 rebate. Got it new for $2999 at B&C in Las Vegas, will be here in 2 days. I think the hardest thing for me to get used to with this camera is not having auto ISO for bright sun to shade & the autofocus system. I really don’t get why a Cinema camera wouldn’t have face detection when using high quality L series lenses, but I do have the 10-18 & 18-135 EF-S/STM lenses so that’s a plus. I’ll be using this camera for nature & wildlife videos, we travel America full time so I have a lot of opportunity to make such videos. It would help me a lot if you could talk about & maybe demo a few handheld run & gun type setups, I’m almost always holding, Moving, walking with the camera so stability is always a concern. Thanks for your videos, they’ve been very helpful!!
The C100 does actually have a 4K sensor. It just takes the 4K footage and scales it down to 1080p. I’m pretty sure that there’s a way you could get 4K footage out of it, if you hook up the sensor directly to a separate source that can save 4K footage
Canon just dropped price another $500 to $3000 USD (may be close to being discontinued) - I'm probably going to get one for all the reasons you listed and the fact I'm very vested in Canon glass that I don't want to sell at a loss. The C200 is still too pricy. I use the C100 at work along side our Sony FS7's and it's still a terrific camera even without 4K. Incredible 1080 image quality. It's such a lot of camera for so many reasons and I'm tired of waiting for Canon to catch up with Sony in the mirrorless video world. I'm tired of shooting DSLR for my personal work - plus my stuff is for web, so this camera is still a champ-
I think it depends on what you're doing. If you're doing corporate or events then defintly the C100 but for short films I would consider the BMPCC. Even though it's a lot more expensive the C200 is also really good, you're getting the best of both worlds.
Where is the C100 Mark III? I enjoy using my XC-10, but won’t wait for canon, as other manufactures close the gap/pass Canon’s class leading features. I love my BM Pocket 4K!
Agreed. Hopefully the C100 iii will have 4k and some extra bells. They don't have to change it much, just update the features. A removable eyepiece would help when using it on a gimbal.
@@d.edwardsfreelanceeditorvi4212 I've thought about this for a little while, but unfortunately I think it could be a while until we see one, because most of the upgrades people want would turn the C100 mkiii into a C200 which I don't think Canon will want to do for a while as the C200 is still relatively new.

Thank you! I definitely agree, there's something about the Canon Cinema image which goes beyond specs. I'm jealous of your C500 upgrade!
Fantastic overview, Sir. Solid information. Those vintage motors look splendid. Thank you. 😊
Thank you! Yes they looked lovely and sounded even better! 😀
Glad that RUclips is finally recommending small RUclipsrs! That's awesome!
Hopefully I'll be a big RUclipsr one day!
The C100 is the working man’s camera.

P S Wait the c100 Mark II can record externally 10bit 422?

Still using Canon C100 Mark I and love it. No need for 4K since I shoot for RAI (Italian tv) which is HD.
C100 Mark I is a great camera.
Great video... I just bought a ,100 Mkii in July 2019. Your video helped me make the decision. Keep up the good work! Scott
Thank you! I’m glad my video helped!
Do you have any recommendations for external power? D-Tap solutions?
I just got my c-100 mii. Thanks for helping add to the list of people recommending it. I’m really enjoying it so far.
I'm glad you're enjoying it!

Still a good camera for 2020? I’m thinking to get this or the bmpcc 4K thoughts?

@@AlwaysCinematic im mostly into music video making which is a better option? i want the best image possible :D
Hi. If you would take a late question: how do you think the C100ii would compare to the EOS R for 1080p image quality?
I think the C100 ii will have a slightly nicer image but it would be pretty close and the main difference would be the full frame vs super 35 crop
Great tips and really interesting, thank you for sharing 👍
Thanks Eddie!
Also I’ve loved this camera so far!
Considering buying this in 2023. Used, it's going for $1k. Am I nuts or genius?
It’s still a good camera especially for that price as long as you don’t need 4k

Having an eye on this lately, it is still relevant in a lot of places.
Curious mate...what is your lighting setup???
I have one soft box camera right and another behind me camera left, I’m going to be changing it very soon though!
I love this camera, can't wait for a C100 mark III tho.
What lens would you recommend? Non prime
I would get either the 18-135 efs or the 24-105L depending on your budget and if you want face auto tracking (need the efs lens for that)
My favorite camera. :)
Mine too! Not that I’d turn down a C200 or C700 FF 😂
@@AlwaysCinematic same, lol
good, I'm sub nr. 500
Thank you!
@@AlwaysCinematic love your videos ☺️
I gotta go with the Panasonic S1. You get better dynamic range plus ibis for around the same price.
i watched this with the speed at 1.5 so i didnt fall asleep.
You are out of focus ??
For the views? Lol. still using this camera
