    People are really missing the point with theses things. This little gamecube sized thing isn't an AC that will fully cool a room. It will cool you down. I have it sitting on my dresser pointing at me when I'm playing videogames and the cool breeze feels nice. I have $100 vornado fan that just blasts warm air at me. *for what it is* this thing actually does work well. You gotta use it *for what it is*, a personal cooler.

      Very smart for changing your mind. Evaporative ACs are the worst to buy. Instead of cooling the air it will make the air feel hotter and much more humid by adding water into the surrounding the air. Humidity is what make hot air unbearable. Dry, hot air can be tolerated. This is why central ACs and auto ACs remove the water from the air to make the air feel more comfortable. DON'T BE FOOLED BY ALL THIS FAKE ADVERTISING on the merits of portable evaporative ACs.

    Thanks for the review. I am actually using the Artic Air Pur Chill in my home office right now. I live in SoCal. We don't have central air and we actually donated our portable AC unit because it was big and heavy and it was a hassle trying to connect it to a window for the exhaust hose. Freezing the filter and putting ice water in the Arctic Air Pure Chill really makes a difference and it works pretty well. It actually works so well I have another unit for my daughter's room. No complaints yet. I have no way to test the air-purifying feature but 2 problems I had with the previous Arctic Air were the difficulty to add ice cubes and the mildew that would build up in the filter over time. It looks like this new Pure Chill fixes that but only time will tell. Thanks again!

    If a small personal swamp cooler is what you are looking for, there is no shortage of videos on YT showing how to build your own out of a 5 gallon bucket or camping cooler or other creative ways. All these will be larger and more powerful than this thing for less money. Just search DIY swamp cooler and you will find many solutions better than this. That is to say, if a swamp cooler is really what you are wanting, however I don’t think many people are looking for that and are simply confusing this with air conditioning. I actually did build one myself out of a 5 gallon bucket and if you sit right in front of it with it blowing on you it is a nice cool (even approaching cold) breeze. However it is a cool and clammy breeze and it absolutely does not lower the temperature overall throughout the room, and if you are using it in a smaller room enclosed, the room will become humid and sticky. If you are desperate to cool down and are broke enough to be considering this thing, it would be better to just go to your local grocery store and pretend to be slowly shopping in the frozen/refrigerated foods aisle. Take a pass on this one.

    Thanks for this review and feel it is important that people who are planning on buying this device pay attention to what Artic Air is promoting and how they are promoting it. Some of the selling points such as how long the water last is false as well as cooling an whole room when I found out that it is not true. I agree with Jeff video it is truly an personal very personal air cooler meaning it only good for cooling an short range of air and not the whole area. Yes running an A/C can be expensive but it can cool an whole room when it works but the Artic Air cooler as the company that sells them are not being truthful and it is more about getting an profit. I brought two for $65 and it is great up close but I have to be up close real close. I do not feel I lost an lot of money as I make an lot of money but those that do not think about it. they will also push you to buy an upgraded model and I would think about that as well as it is probably and base model with enhanced options why buy that if it cannot do better than it. I guess it for bigger profits.

    As a personal air cooling device this does exactly what it needs to. When you're stuck in a 90° + room with no AC this little unit blows fresh cool air right into my space allowing me to watch TV work on the computer etc. I actually caught a little chill from it and had to turn it to low the other day while it was 85° out. This is all I need until my apartment building finally turns on the air conditioning for the summer. NOT a room air conditioner folks. PERSONAL air.

    Thanks for this review. Wish I saw it back in April! We bought one of these over a month ago for $40 from our local Kroger's grocery store. We are here in Georgia, and it gets to around 85 degrees F at night indoors. We sleep with this thing on as well as two or three fans because it doesn't cool well enough by itself (in a 10x10 room). We put ice in our machine regularly, but don't always wet the filter. We certainly didn't think to freeze it. I'll try that and see what results we get. I would prefer if we didn't have to run fans in addition to a device like this. Considering the Breeze Maxx based on ads we see on RUclips. Please do a review for the Breeze Maxx!! We would trust your word over these possibly sponsored "reviewers".

  • @johnf3137

    Without any vent conduit removing and dumping heat outside of the building, the device will only make it hotter. Of course if one just sits in front of it, you will be cooler, but overall the room will be warmer than before the device was started. We can know this with certainty because the energy used to cool is not being removed from the room.

    • @raven4k998
      @raven4k998 3 года назад

      nope it will how ever make the humidity rise which defeats the effectiveness of sweating which makes it feel that way to you also that promotes mould growth in you home or wherever you are using it an a/c dehumidifies the air increasing the effectivess of sweating which in conjution with it lower the temp makes it feel much cooler to you

    • @johnf3137
      @johnf3137 3 года назад

      @@raven4k998 I agree with what you say about the humidity. Its also true however that the energy used to power the fan creates waste heat. An AC unit removes both the heat in the air (including waste heat generated by system) and condensing the water vapor by blowing inside air over cold expanded gas coils. and then removing the heat from the inside environment by blowing air through compressed gas coils outside.

      Jeanette - you've got it ! What these fake new air coolers are doing is tantamount to "putting a bucket of ice in front of a fan". The idea of cooling is to remove the humidity from the air during hot weather not add more humidity. Then one's skin is able to evaporate the sweat from the body to make you feel cooler. See my comments to "Not Graves". You've obviously studied science in school.

    I use mine with crushed ice, which helps with the water on the top, I don't use the filter cause it's useless. I leave the drawer out. I like the light settings, but it's loud. Always use cold water, crushed ice helps with using it to. It melts which helps with refilling so much. No water clean up anymore with that filter, I tossed it in the freezer and that is where it's at haha lol.

    I bought the small personal cooler. I didnt expect it to cool a room, but I would have like it to cool my personal area, it did not. It only cooled me if I were literally naked in front of it. Lost the receipt couldn’t return it. Still in need of some relief, I bought the tower thinking it would have more umph. No, it cooled no better than a tower fan. It spewed water out the front, very disappointed. I saved my receipt, returning it tomorrow.

The top can be lifted off easily. However I run it under my sink like an idiot and I think water probably got into the wiring somehow and it just shut off when I was using it once and never turned back on again. I am not a A/C Pro, but I have been in the Plumbing and Heating business for 40+ yrs. What I do know is that a Real A/c system not only cools the Air but more importantly Dries the air and removes humidity. This seems to be a glorified fan with pretty lights and (adds) humidity to your air. Not the desired effect. Prob a battery powered fan only would be a better buy without all the effort and mess of adding water to it. IMHO.

    So this is based on a cooling fan that we used to call a swamp cooler in the military unfortunately this thing is set up in the reverse. The filter on this device should be in the back and the fan should be much more high-powered to pull air through the filter that is kept wet causing the air to immediately be cooled by the water and blown out the fan unfortunately these fans do not work very well in areas that are already humid.
