I have to thank you for creating this song, it was my daughters favourite song, she would sing and dance in the oncology ward every day and cheer up so many of her little friends. Today is her anniversary so I'm playing this loud and dancing in the kitchen in my white pj's with purple polka dots. Your music has helped get me through all the sad times, thanks Franciscus.

Came across this by accident and brought back so many memories. Met Franciscus in 1969 (ish) at North West Brunswick Junior school where he used to help our art teacher. Spent many great times listening to him playing his guitar and singing for us in the shelter sheds and it was here he sang Mary and me to us before it became a single. I've still got the Fable album with the song on it.
I had this album when I was a kid! 30 years ago I had this, and I’ve been trying to Google the lyrics of oopy goopy trying to find you! The fabulous people of reddit helped me find you! You have no idea how happy I am that I’ve found this! It brings back so many memories
I remember this well. I remember being a kid watching this on ABC during the old kid's show runs in the 90's. I remember at the end after the image at 2:34 seeing the CD copy and a man saying "Walking On The Milky Way is now on CD and cassate of Franciscus Henri songs available from ABC shops' ABC centres and all music retailers."
This was my favourite song from the ABC for kids videos! I'm 23 now and still love this. I must have driven my mother mad rewinding and playing it over and over.
It freaked me out and I made it. Actually I knew the ending would have kids wondering but if you think about it there was lots of that "querky" humour in the video. I never wanted to make anything 'cute for children', i was raised on grimm fairytails and had funny parents so I guess I was never going to make anything that confirmed the "normal" ..... :)
@FranciscusHenri Wow, I really didn't expect a reply; you're one of those untouchable heroes of childhood! Zoo in my House and the pancakes freaked me out as well, so clearly I'm just a big wuss - but Dancing in the Kitchen with my Grandma and White Pajamas made it all good again. I'm pleased I didn't grow up watching absolutely shiny happy shows. Happy with a dash of scary is always more fun. :)
When I was a kid I seriously thought the spaceman was evil, and had tricked the man in bed into looking at him so he could swap places and leave the man stranded in space!
This Song Really Invokes the Feeling of the Sci Fi Horror Movies which i listened to growing up in my life i got inspired to create a cover of this one with my friend boris cipusev and one of my girl support workers which i been thinking about doing for all the children i am working on the costumes which i am planning atm ill be wearing grey blue and green armor the girl wears grey yellow and green armor also the other man is wearing grey armor
Are the similarities with the Orchestral Maneuvers in the Dark song deliberate? The instruments in that song seem to play the same melody as 'no bad times, no sad times, no bad news today'.
+mouseymousey02 Interesting observation ...but as the track was recorded in about 1992 it seems unlikely that there is any deliberate similarity unless "WALKING ON THE MILKYWAY' was the inspiration for the dark song
