my dad, Haam Choj, is in MN. The band no longer plays with each other as most of the band members are in RI still. Let me know if you are interested in my Dad and his partner, Lee Lue. I had them play at my best friends wedding and the old folks had a great time.
My uncle us ntawv vaaj, he is survived by 1 sister left. I would love to ask your dad about my late uncle since i have never met him but he played a big role in our family
Haven't seen Haam Choj nor Lee Lue play for several years now. Hope they are doing well. No one comes close to Haam Choj when it comes to playing keyboard, even with today's young Hmong kids. Haam Choj can play many instruments, any style and he can sing in any language. I had played with him before. The guy is a Hmong legend. 👍👍❤️❤️
LOL ...The "CRICKETS" that is funny. I still enjoy seeing my cousins and brother in-laws in this video. LONG LIVE THE "CRICKETS"... A reunion would be excellent.
It's strange that the guy refers them as "cricket" because "Kaab Nqausvas" does not mean cricket at all. In our country, Kaab Ngausvas is really a, "Cicada," which is a form of tree bug that thrives by the hundreds and thousands as they sing loudly across the forest. They are hardly crickets (not the same).
I do not believe MrKouang is so cool that he can call this music gay. These guys are like the BEETLES to the Hmong people and yes I said that it was funny because the interviewer called my cousins the "crickets" but please pay your respects. It takes a tremendous effor/guts to get on stage and perform in front of hundreds/thousands of people. Music is suppose to have meaning and not just noise like the today's so called music. Long Live Kaab Nqausvas..
We should do something. I'm not anybody important but I'm a person n voice. This has been on my mind for years, but I've been distracted n busy. But truthfully I know my ppl want to go home n if not now then never. I'm out of generation where we can move on but I know we're not supposed to and if we do we're supposed take care of all of our veterans that fought in the CIA secret war because the majority of our people were the ones that died for the American. Every 10 Hmong died to save one america life n yet we can't retrieve what's owed to us? It's not like we decided to fight for a cause it was like we had no choice and because we were backed into a corner, means we're bullied and pushed aside like we don't matter but too many of our Hmong people had died for no cause and lost everything we know for no cause till this day they're still are people in the mountains confused and lost about this war and we go on about our lives because we don't live it don't see it. I want to make a change so bad n I know our parents and grandparents deserve it because their story are so similar and sad. Truthfully at the time of the war we were secret because the president and law makers were lying to the American citizens and use us Hmong ppl(unknown to most in the world) as we initiated provoked or even made himself sound like they were trying to save our people in the meantime it was the American that put our people in that place. So does this mean that we don't get any veterans pay or health care for the people that did fight in the war and can't work due to their injuries trauma and age now. Still an American CIA secret partnership in war. When we're not anymore and ppl know now. Why aren't my ppl taking care of? Why aren't we promised what we were then or now? Why isn't anybody addressing this? More than half of us suffered and/or died. What about my ppl?!? We need to stand up together as one to take care of our ppl. Idk why no one tries anymore.

If you click on the link I provided, you will see detailed information about the documentary. It is called:The best place to live : [a personal story of the Hmong refugees from Laos]
I dont think this doc of the band or hmong people during this time was gay I thought they were AWESOME. They made us WHO we are now. Without them WE may not be here in where we are now.
Corrections Kaab Nqaus Vas (Kab Nqos Vias) is not Cricket. Cricket is Kab Civ Liv. I'm not sure what the english name is but the narrator is incorrectly interpreting the name of the band.
WoW...These are a hand full of white folks that knew the Hmong and understood our Hmong people, and now their old and retired....too bad majority of the american populations dont know us...
This group needs to be recognize by the hmong community as the all time lendary group. THese guys were truly rock stars ahead of their times.
+Kinjin Ku the beatles to hmong
Their actually filled with music theory. It's impressive for their time.
Wow, very nice documentary on this band. We all listened to their music in the early 80s and still do now. Love Kaab Nqos Vaas. 👍👍❤️❤️
The grandpas look very handsome when they were young.
This group is truly Hmong icon.
What a classic. Their interview reminds me of the korean boy band these days. They have paved the way for hmong bands after them.
