I had someone take a regular bed sheet, we folded it around the pad when it was inflated, marked it, and sewed it up like a pillow case. No it's comfortable to lay on, easy to pack, and can make it any color. Problem solved!
I love seeing CQI - continuous quality improvement. I also love continuous process improvement. Are there any process improvements or material upgrades to prevent leaks? A system that has an inflatable pad as a structural element needs a reliable inflatable pad.
I would love to try one of these, but I am reluctant. I have a Haventent and have had terrible trouble with the mattress. Have to re-inflate about 4 times a night. Now Haven has sent me a new pad and I haven’t tried it yet, hopefully it will work. But, if I upgrade to the Safari or an XL, is there a guarantee that the true level will not leak? I also have to say that to have to pay an extra 100$ for a mattress that will work seems a bit weird. Haven always advertised as a lay flat Hammock. Now you have to pay more if you want a true level pad.
hopefully these can hold air better than the original XL pads, im on my second replacement pad but its still in the box from when i got it months ago, the first pad i slept on in the backyard for about a week no issue then it became apparent it was leaking thoughout the night, soapy water found at least 7 pinholes in the welded seams, got a replacement, and i tested it right out of the box with the soapy water and found three of them, the rep that i was working with says that the pad i have now he personally tested for leaks, im hoping its true
I just received my new True Level pad! It looks and feels great. The improvement in the seals and gaskets of the inflation "neck" is obvious. You mentioned that compared to the old XL pad, you "more than doubled the amount of insulation." Can you comment on what the difference in R-value might be with the True Level compared to the old one? Also, I noticed that the new pad is 2.5 inches shorter in length. I'm curious about the reason for this change.
@@troutwhisperer1 Accordiing to the writing on the stuff sack(s) that the pads come in from Haven it says as follows: Haven Insulated XL 30x82.5. On the Haven Insulated True Level XL it shows up as 30x80"
I just had my second Safari pad fail from bleeding out air along the bladder seams. It's flat within a couple minutes. Both pads lasted about 20-25 nights. Will this fit the Safari as a replacement?
Do you plan to have bug net replacements? I ripped my by sitting on it and really abusing it and it’s a tiny tear by the zipper but I have ocd and would like to buy another bug net for my haven tent.
I've noticed that my regular pad that came with the hammock keeps loosing air after a several hours and then it's slumped down in the center and very uncomfortable and also I've noticed that the inside of the tent ends up with a lot of condensation in it,,,how can this be fixed ?
Hey, we saw your comment on IG too. We'll get that taken care of for you, send a message to support@haventents.com The majority of people who report a mattress losing pressure is from temperature changes. When it gets cold at night, the air inside the pad will contract. Customer service will help determine if that is the case or if you have another issue. We can also help you upgrade to the true level at a discount to ensure the flattest lay possible! 🤙
POV: You just bought a Mondoking 3D, Roamer and a Topo Luxe looking for a flatter pad for the Safari you purchased last month. I have the worst timing.
@@stefanmether7716 The good news it's a good fit. I'll probably try this new mat if I get the XL for backpacking. However, the Mondoking 3D suddenly developed a bubble under my shoulder last night and then instantly became a giant bubble across the top third of the mat. Made a loud ripping side and nearely tipped of out of the hammock. You can see pics of the delamination I'm describing in the Amazon comments for the product. @@adv-nomad Hi, i’ve tried it a coupe of times now and it works perfectly! Its high quality and easy to pack. (I Will proabably try the new haven one also)
I've slept outside in a gather hammock for years now... I sleep flat by sleeping on a diagonal and not stringing my hammock up too tight. Ya know... I got my double-person hammock for about 1/10 the price you have set for yours. Economically speaking, I cannot justify the expense especially for the value of what I consider to be a gimmick (the lay-flat aspect that you lean so hard on).😅
It's not a gimmick as it's the best hammock I've ever used. Goes to ground super easy as well. The con of this setup, and it's a really big one. The pad is a critical component of the hammock. without it sleeping in the thing is nearly impossible. And I've had 2 pads fail, one in the middle of a trip, and recently preparing for a 3 week trip. So extremely unreliable. I'll use my Warbonnet Blackbird while I try to source a 3rd pad.
@@kenp4464 I can't justify all the extra weight... I want to be able to break down, roll everything up (blanket, gather hammock and bug net) and stuff it in my pack at a moments notice. Not space efficient to do so, but convenient for ease of breakdown and speed. Besides, it can be packed more seriously when you're in a better location. This location usually ends up being a space for making breakfast anyways. I can backpack with this setup, as it's reasonably light.
@deemushroomguy yeah, this kit is not meant for backpacking. I don't even take it motorcycle camping. It has its place though and more comfortable than just about any other type.
@@kenp4464 That's where I'll disagree. Stiff, flat pads in a hammock sounds like someone didn't learn anything about waking up with a jacked up back from sleeping on a shitty mattress before... I mean, your sleeping experience can realistically be compared to crashing on a couch, at that point.
@deemushroomguy Comparing it to sleeping on a couch.. I'm guessing you've never slept in one. I have about 60 nights in the thing. Sleeping across creeks, tree to side by side roll cage, on the ground. And have gotten the best sleeps ever. Yeah, I'm not doing that with a couch. Lol
The Haven XL is a good sleep system BUT; mine has a manufacturing defect which has become apparent after half a dozen uses and getting it exchanged (I live in BC) is proving impossible. Emails and phone calls feeds me into a loop, they are all ignored. Its funny how when I was ordering the XL and I left the process incomplete foe a few hours, the Haven marketing department were on me like white on rice sending me reminder emails etc. I must report that their after sales support seems designed to deflect any enquiries into hyperspace. I guess I'm stuck with this defective item until it completely fails. When it does I will certainly get another hammock- but not from Haven. EDIT. The marketing dept have made contact. Dear Derek and @Haven Tents: where's your European site gone to? Best regards from Belgium
when will it be available to buy for EU customers?
Unfortunately, you’re looking at July 😞 sorry!!
july is totally fine!
Looks amazing! Does it work in the safari as well? Best sleep I’ve ever had in a hammock and this can only improve that. Thanks Derek!!
Thank you! Yes, the true level will work perfectly well with your Safari 🤙 Glad you've enjoyed your hang with us.
lighter, flatter, quiter, softer, warmer.... AWESOME
but why is it still orange? :(((( why no green or brown????
looks great! will it be available in other colors?? i HATE the orange, i want it green, like the tent!
Too complicated at this point! 😂 it’s a lot of work having different pad colors. Sorry!
okay, understandable, but why not have it green by default as the only color, like the tent. who wants it orange???
