  • Starting at just 5.1 lbs, the Mark V® Backcountry™ Guide series was purpose-built to be the best lightweight mountain rifle on the market. Adam and Luke from Weatherby® dive into what's new on the Guide series.
    The Legendary Mark V Action:
    Introduced in 1958, the Mark V action was designed to be the strongest action in the world. Roy cut no corners and wanted to create a rifle platform to handle his high-velocity magnum cartridges; this no-compromise design was ahead of its time and has remained unchanged since its introduction.
    Designed with the durability and precision needed for a lifetime of hunting, the Mark V was built to be passed down for generations. Weatherby’s commitment to excellence ensures that each rifle becomes a treasured heirloom, ready to be used and enjoyed by future hunters.
    When designing the Mark V action Roy and his team didn’t even consider how hard it would be to manufacture, they just focused on building the best and strongest action. Unlike most modern actions the Mark V’s receiver features an integral recoil lug and a bolt that is constructed from one solid piece of material. This process allows for a stronger action with tighter overall tolerances. The bottom metal is also machined and doesn’t use plastic materials like other platforms.
    Shorter BSF Barrels:
    The guide series features a shortened BSF carbon barrel to accommodate use of suppressors and shorter barrels make trekking through brush easier. At Weatherby we know speed kills so we did all the testing to make sure the shorter barrels still optimized our historic Weatherby Cartridges. We also include an Accubrake ST to help reduce the recoil of such a lightweight rifle.
    Peak 44 Blacktooth Stock with Spartan Adapters:
    The Blacktooth stock is one of the lightest stocks on the market today and we’ve added Spartan Precisions Gunsmithing adaptors for seamless use of their lightweight accessories. Until now this was a feature reserved for only custom rifles.
    Titanium Action Upgrade:
    Titanium offers an incredible strength-to-weight ratio and cuts about a half pound off the weight of the rifle. Titanium is also naturally corrosion-resistant which makes it perfect for hunting in harsh hunting conditions. All of Weatherby’s titanium actions are machined in Sheridan, WY with the tightest tolerances and attention to detail.

    😁 Shorter Barrels Are The Way To Go! I Am Not Interested In Carbon Fiber Barrels or Supressors! But, Chambering The 280 AI (As You Have Done) Does Interest Me! 👍

    Need a 20" option! Even if it's a custom shop option, people that hunt with suppressors in areas with low overhanging brush need them shorter.

    I appreciate the slightly shorter barrels ... I really don't like a long barrel re handling & esp if adding break or can I'm content to give up 100-150 fps

    I really want a Backcountry 2.0 in either 338 WBY RPM or 6.5 WBY RPM.
    If the American people can muster enough sense to elect a govt that will get out of the way of (instead of impeding) the economy, I just might be able to save up for one. Fingers crossed. 🙏🏼🙏🏼

    Can you custom request a barrel length? I would be interested in a 308 with a 20” threaded barrel? No Accubrake! Also never used a carbon wrapped barrel. Where can i get more info on this barrel setup?

    /facepalm I hate this short barrel fad. Suppressors add six inches or more. To that 24” barrel you are making it a 30” barrel. All day everyday I’d take a 30” 300 over one suppressed. More speed, more power, flatter trajectory. It doesn’t make sense to shoot a short barrel and add six inches. You have a nice blob in the end of your barrel, that’s cool. I’ll be shooting 180’s at 3400+ fps. I can’t wait for this fad to end. Next thing you know people will make sixteen inch barrels so it is normal length with a suppressor.

    • @LostBoysProduction
      @LostBoysProduction 15 дней назад

      I'm guessing you don't carry rifles around much in dense brush/trees. For the range I could shoot a 30" barrel with a 8" suppressor without a care.

    • @jackbolen5001
      @jackbolen5001 14 дней назад +1

      @@LostBoysProduction I go for speed and power. I don’t shoot a suppressor at all. Let’s so me and you have 300 Weatherby’s. You have a 24”with a Banish 30 can. You are carrying a 32” total barrel length system. I’m carrying a 30”. I’m two inches shorter than your rig and over 200 fps faster. Cans don’t make sense. Europeans use them because a lot of parcels make them. We get to choose and if I’m adding an extra 8” it will be barrel.
