DeWalt makes good tools. I recently bought a pancake compressor and instructions said to running it for 30 minutes with the drain wide open to break it in. I agree the porter cable looked pretty flimsy and I ended up getting the rigid brand because of the warranty and how well it looked. Great review
I was on the fence about this unit. Home Depot had the kit on sale for $179, but I ended up getting the Husky 8 gallon hot dog compressor kit for $112. It's worked alright so far, and since I don't have a Gator or anything like that, it's much easier to roll this thing around the barnyard than I imagine it would be lugging the pancake compressor around. Runs a narrow crown stapler for a LONG time before it needs another charge, too. I've had my Leatherman super tool 300 for about 9 years now. Everybody in the Marines used a Gerber, but I've just always preferred Leatherman. They last forever as long as you don't lose them.👍 Good video!
LOL!!! "don't like porter cable" .... This compressor has many colors and labels, Bostitch. Craftsman, Porter cable, Dewalt (Dewalt bumped it up to 165 PSI) - I bought the Bostitch one, it even had the same packaging!
Appreciate the video, especially the unboxing because I was worried I had received a used unit due to lack of packaging within the box, your vid confirmed that wasnt the case. Thanks!
@@StoneyRidgeFarmer I hear you! actually now, for my occasional use, i'm proly gonna get a cordless one. Happen to have a recommendation for those? Thanks man
Hello...! I have watched several videos and have noticed that the drain valve is not exactly in the full center of the base of the tank. So... how is it possible to guarantee that the tank is 100% drained without tilting it towards the drain valve? Thank you!
One question. It has a regulator gauge on it. My question is, is if they tank can only hold 165 psi, how come the regulator gauge can measure or has numbers on the gauge that go higher than 165 psi? Will the knob by the gauges allow you to adjust more than 165 psi? I wouldn't think that it would.
man...I don't know about all that....the compressor is rated at 165psi....I do believe..but it's small..not like you can use it to run a paint gun or something...it will typically fill 2 car tires and will run a nail gun but not really rapidly firing it like a roofer...I'm still very happy with it
Did it work OK? I’m about to pull the trigger on one. It will be for very ocasional use: pumping a tire, loosening a tire from a tractor or blowing the baler. Is it up to the task? Does the tank hold the pressure? Any leaks so far?
tire inflation is the lighted duty task, why not show us how many lug nuts will it undo on a truck wheel if you use it continuously. Can it take off all 6 lug nuts or just 5 or just 4 before the pressure is too low.???
What's the maximum output pressure? and did you notice the 'cut in' pressure, is it like 140psi or something? None of the specs mention it, it cuts out at 165psi I assume.
I'll be interested in the longevity of it. I've had a couple of oilless compressors and they never last long. just too much friction for the piston rings.
I've had a DeVilbiss 20 gallon oil-less for over 15 years with no problem. But then, I'm kind of a weekend warrior. If it was daily use, it'd probably be in the scrap yard by now.
I was laughing when you spoke ill of Porter cable. -Because that is a Porter Cable compressor. I have it. Have had for a couple of years. It works well, but I’m not grinding nor nailing everyday.
Carl, I don't mean to come across as a "smart a**" but think about what you are asking. All appliances that are designed to operate on 115/120 volts AC in the USA cannot exceed 15 amps of current. Why would anyone manufacture an appliance that operate at these voltages and wish to sell in the US that exceeds the 15 amp threshold?
@Carl and Co Rin - Startup amperage will exceed 15 amps on equipment that runs at 15 amps steady-state. This shouldn't cause a problem, but if it's plugged into a GFIC outlet, it might. GFICs are a pain. Electricians will defend them, because they get to sell more wire, but I don't see the need for them.
*After years of hauling around a large,💫 **allabout.wiki/PORTER** heavy, loud dewalt air compressor (that ironically was advertised as quiet, supposedly 78dB), I bought this. Facepalm. While it is not ‘silent’, I find myself chuckling every time I use it, sparing all my neighbors the terror of my former compressor. I use for inflating tires, impact wrench, finish nailers. Absolutely love it. And I store it under the garage sink in a 24” cabinet. I paired with a coil 1/2”, instead of a my former 50’ 5/8” hose that I had to lug across the yard from the shed, unpleasantly uncoil.... this little guy is light and portable; just a joy. Impact wrench is still capable of easing lug bolts, flywheel bolts, crank pulleys... just allow for a tiny bit of recovery now and then.*
A pancake compressor is for low-flow equipment, like nail guns. With such a small tank, it doesn't take much to make the pressure drop. Nothing wrong with using it to air up tires, but watch the duty cycle. As always, love your videos,. Keep 'em comin'.
Im a noob when it comes to air compressor, so If someone can answer the following, thanks. Once the unit if up to 165psi and the tank is full of air. Could I unplug it and use it? Say take it somewhere where I have no access to electricity? I know that as the Tank/psi empties naturally it would turn on and refill if connected, but I wanted to know could I just use the air already in it b without being connected. Thx
Yes you can...that was the appeal of this little compressor to me. I have a pressure tank that is portable but only holds 100 psi...this little guy is awesome for just grabbing and going around our farm. Great little compressor

I did get a discounted used unit and was charged discount price .So far so good.Amazon refurbished!
Wow that's small! Look forward to seeing how it holds up. Great portability.
you better believe I'm gonna work the crap out of it!
Sitting here needing to learn about this thing and finally a descent video
Ya think it would do well runnin an impact wrench for breakin and tightenin lug nuts when changing a tire? Thanks
I'm sure it would, but honestly I'd go buy a milwaukee impact and call it good!

Just broke my out today...this is the first video that popped up when I search for it on the youtubes.
Awesome...used mine today!
@@StoneyRidgeFarmer I pumped up a 6 bballs for my boy. I may be his favorite dad again...thanks Dewalt.
Could this be used to spray wall texture for small jobs, let’s say patches and maybe like 5 sheets
It's so simple, a caveman can do it. Good video. Not much to it and that's exactly what I needed. Thank you
Glad it helped

People have ran paint guns for bumpers, fenders and panels. Whole car possibly on a whole day
What size hose for the fittings that come on it do you need. Like your videos keep the good work up.
thanks man for the positive review, just got one
Awesome! Hope ya used my link! Helps out the channel!
Yes I did man!
How much did you pay just for the compressor by itself
Josh, have you ever used it for filling tractor tires?
yeppers

Off position 'which is O I think'. ha, something about those on/off logos just don't register in my noggin :)

need put 2 batteries on small air compressor machine, cordless air compressor
Now theres an idea!
Iginio BLUEVEST DeWalt just came out with a 60v cordless air compressor 2.5 gallon
Stoney Ridge Farmer
Ridgid has one, but it takes two $100 batteries to run it.
I enjoyed the video thanks for the info
I'll be interested in the longevity of it. I've had a couple of oilless compressors and they never last long. just too much friction for the piston rings.
me too man, dont worry I'll put this thing through its paces......and you'll soon know if it fails!

Mine is loud. Does this model require oil? 2/24/23
Does the air need to be released from the tank after use?
nope...but you can easily do it....the tank will eventually leak down if you arent using it
Thanks
Still holding up after 5 years?
yessir!!
Can this compresaor be used to spray polyurethane?
check the CFM requirements of your spray gun and compare with the compressor..odds are...small projects would be ok...large ones...not so much
I was laughing when you spoke ill of Porter cable. -Because that is a Porter Cable compressor. I have it. Have had for a couple of years. It works well, but I’m not grinding nor nailing everyday.
It is? Please explain....maybe I dont know much....dewalt is made by porter cable?
It’s a more deluxe version of the porter cable c2002 which is probably the most sold pancake air compressor.
it's a totally different compressor. the c2002 is a 150psi, the dewalt is 165psi
actually its a completely different air compressor.
It is the same the only different would be the regulator for the difference in psi.
No break in period?
Nope no break in mentioned in the manual...no problems so far.. have used it for about 6 months now
@@StoneyRidgeFarmer Hi, I'm a farmer too. I have this model. Do you know if this unit requires oil or lubrication? Mine is noisy.
That unit weighs 33 lbs.
yeah..i was gonna say this gentleman is strong as heck. Curling 55 pounds like if it was nothing. dang!
Hows it holding up ?
Awesome! I guess it's 3 years later now and still runs as good as day 1
Hey, has the compressor ever tripped the breakers? Will it work fine in a 15 amp circuit?
no problems so far works fine on 15amp circuit, i'd double check the owners manual but works fine here
Stoney Ridge Farmer what extension cord did you use?

I'm from Brazil. I wanna this compressor.
Nice review. Does it vibrate a lot and/or “walk around” on the floor (move around when running)?
Not at all
Greetings it is necessary to fill first all the tank and then regulate it or if for example it is filling and going for 80 psi I can use it.
It's good for uses on nail guns and such...but I wouldn't run an air grinder or drill with it...it's a small compressor without alot of reserve
Some women like to open boxes of new tools too, bub!
Are you in Stoney Ridge Ohio ?
WOOOOOO! 🇺🇸
What is the dimensions of the box?
no clue but if you click the link below it will take you to Amazon......might get the box dimensions there...the box is long gone buddy....sorry
