If I remember correctly, C S Lewis wrote that the struggle of faith comes with the pressure of the moment. For example, he knew scientifically that anesthesia for operations worked, but when he had to go under the knife himself, that is when his faith 'that' was challenged as to whether he had faith 'in'.
faith is believing in things we have not seen. No one can see faith - faith is your TESTIMONY that you believe Jesus Christ is the Son of God, died was buried and rose 3 days later for payment for sins - past/present/future. Discipleship is where your works come in to play.

Our shield of faith stops spiritual attacks. Keep your focus on Christ and you will notice spiritual attacks, like temptations, that you may react by raising your shield. Then, counterattack with the sword of the spirit, which is the word (rhema) of God.
