So I did some in depth testing on the Stargaze II debate. With frame perfect casting, Stargaze II is higher dps by 17.5%. However this is frame perfect. If you miss the timing by 0.1 seconds then Stargaze V overtakes Stargaze II. This is calculated with casting speed sigils and Io's personal sigils. Its possible that with a max damage build that doesnt utilize casting speed at all, that the timing window increases in favor of Stargaze II, but it would take more testing. Again this is at perfect execution on a stationary target and isn't taking into account windows in which DPS isn't possible (such as skyfall).
@@LeaflitTactics I think you misunderstood the Stargaze lv2 usage. The idea is after every Mystic Vortex charge you get, you quickcast a Stargaze lv2 and it's a massive dps increase as opposed to just spamming your spells back to back til Stargaze lv5 OR spamming your charged attack to pop out Stargaze lv5s. So overall it's like weaving lv2 Stargazes between spells until you can fire off a Stargaze lv5
@zaee336 So it'd be something like... Skill/Charge attack -> Stargaze 2 -> Skill / Charge attack -> Stargaze 2 -> Skill / Charge attack -> Stargaze 5 Making sure to cancel the stargaze animation each time with a Skill or dodge?
Nice video! Something I've learned about Io from Maygi's guide is using Stargaze II on every quick cast proc (unless you have 3 mystic vortex) is a huge DPS increase. It charges so fast and can be instant cancelled with a skill so it doesn't really slow down your rotation. Went from a 20 mil parse to a 22 mil parse using stargaze II
I tried it out and after we ran a few tests it seems it loses in the long term due to spell damage. BUT you can use some of this information... since we found out that charge orb damage is basically linear... its not a problem to drop BEFORE max. As long as the cooldowns aren't up you aren't losing too much damage but it makes the flow chart much more complicated.
Sorry Leaflit I'm not sure I understand what you mean by 'loses in the long term due to spell damage'. Could you expand a bit on that if it's not too much trouble?@@LeaflitAsari
@@esspysr.5499I'm assuming she means that it does more dps, but less sustained damage over a period of time. Maybe because it doesnt sync up with skill cds as well as if you charge it fully? I havent labbed it though, so I'm mostly talking out of my ass.
Here is a few IO Tech I use while playing. *Building off the advice from the video where you can move in-between dodges while charging stargaze. It also maintains star gaze charge while doing multiple dodges if you have the sigil. If you don't have the mutiple dodge sigil and just have the three base dodges (last one having a long post animation) Dodge twice, resume charging towards stargaze III or IV and after a full charge or quarter till it your dodges have reseted back to default. *In later mastery IO is able to be out of charging stargaze for much longer where your able to use an ability then resume stargaze charge. There two techs you can do. *Say your still have skills almost off cooldown but but only have two orbs. Start fast charging stargaze (I-III). By the time it get to stargaze III your skill off cooldown. if you dodge, let go of star gaze then use one of her ability. during the animation hold stargaze button. This will unlock the IV. *This also can be done when you dont have quick cast and have 2-3 orbs. ex. you accidentally start using stargaze without quick cast due to being interrupted previously or you want to use the stone armor buff/def buff from stargaze. If you dodge, let go of stargaze, use any skill that proc the quick cast effect then resume stargaze. It will quick cast the stargaze that wasnt on quickcast prior. *This is often overlooked. the orbs can be generated without needing any target or landing said attack. Start getting your orbs in-between boss rush attacks when they cant be targeted or hard to be targeted. So by the time you can hit the boss all you have to do is use a skill once or charged base atk once to proc quick charge III / stargaze IV. This remove the need to charge base atk twice + skill or three skill to get three orbs + quick charge for stargaze IV. *Link attack is your best friend. If a link attack is prompt but your almost done with a charged atk. Finish the charged atk then right after activate the link atk then skill. This quickly get you three orbs. Link attacks also gives you quick charge as well. Going back on previously mentioned tip. Say you did two charged atks and see the boss link atk bar almost full. start charging your stargaze. When link atk happen trigger it for the third orb to get stargaze IV. Alternative is if your on three orbs charging to stargaze IV, if link atk prompt happens abandon doing stargaze and let go where its currently at (I-III) casting it prematurely (if close to next tier and on quick charge finish it). Immediately use link atk then a skill or charged auto. Orbs are immediately used when you let out stargaze and not when it lands. Due to letting go early you only use 1-2 orbs out of the three so by using link atk right after stargaze (I-III) then a skill (if you lose two orbs think on SG III) you throw out more dps this way and remove the need to use a 3rd skill/charge atk. Link attack remove the SG and skill post animations. *IO Attack range is close to global range. The lock on range is much longer than IO manual SG/Skill targeting. The key to doing this is lock onto a target you need to be within range BUT the range to LOSE lock on is larger THAN the require range to lock on initial. ex. if you run to far away boss, Once you max range lock on while on two/three orbs (non quick charge) use blizzard for the skill initial dash back, SG (on QC), dodge backwards [and move if needed before SG expired] resume SG that kept the quick charge. You just created a lot of distance between you and the boss. This is very handy especially cause you are Out of boss attack range on most of their big area of effects and be out of most attacks Few places can be in the corner of the map, on higher terrain (stairs, grass hills etc) This helped immensely in not having to move a whole lot unless get auto placed in center in-between cutscene or boss global field pull. *If your somebody who used manual SG/Skill in horde/bosses due to janky targeting. Use lock on once to fix your aoe to the boss or nearby enemy. Then remove the lock on. This way you remove the need to move the aoe from self to your target AND avoid missing your skill due to your camera angle making you think it on them but is not. Also can quickly correct the atk where it be the most effective. Reminder: Manual targeting range is shorter than lock on range at the max (not the additional distance when you move back after max lock on range) so keep that in mind. *Lastly stargaze has a very tall hit box to hit airborn bosses or minions. Going higher charge increase the height of the hit box. This is very helpful when fighting bosses with flying minions that shoot lazers. Keeps your melee folks alive and well. Hope these tips help those looking to play IO. She is fun to play and flexible. There a lot of depth if your into positioning and min-maxing her output.
Yeah that Stargaze cancel is crazy, I've been using it since I saw you fight "Big Steak" and "Chicken Snack" (their new names based on the angry threats you were throwing at them). ...when I actually remember to do so. WAIT WHAT Flowery Seven does almost as much damage when not charged? Serious inner balance issue here. All these minutes wasted charging that skill (even with quick charge) across all my battles! And wasting that charge because I had to dodge sometimes... Urgh. Thanks for the tips!
Great video! Really satisfying to see such advance playstyle! Btw I have a question here: Regarding cancelling stargaze and cast a spell to gain quick charge (9:19) I lose my charge the moment I cast a spell, or do I need masteries/sigil to keep my charge? Thanks!
I dont think that when chat said "autos" as in the actual normal attack but instead the uncharged stargaze(UNS) since u can quick cancel just like the big one, faster even, so u can UNS > thunder insta cancel into UNS > cancel UNS into ice > fire > big bonk stargaze. that aside its insane how Io can dish out big dmg and prolly outdps everyone in the game u can literally deal over 5mil in the 10s trials and double in the subsequent ones.
Thank you so much for this great guide 👍 I always learn so much from watching your videos. I also have a suggestion to make and please don't take it as criticism because that is not my intention. In your future videos, is it possible to move your avatar (3D model) so that it does not cover the actions/skills section in the bottom right hand corner of the screen. This game has the amazing feature of highlighting any buttons pressed/skills selected when you use them and your guides will be way more beneficial if the viewers can see the action buttons you pressed / skills selected when you do them (which is impossible when your avatar is always covering them). Where should you move your avatar ? The ideal option is to move it to the top right hand corner of the screen since there is nothing there that is worth displaying all the time. An alternative is to move it to the bottom left hand corner of the screen (That might hide the Guard button but at least nothing else is hidden.) . Once again, thank you so much for the great guides and keep up the good work 🙌
Man I don't have time to keep up with you and your guides. Do you sleep? Lol. Seriously though, can't wait to watch and catch up on these last few ones when I can. Awesome to have someone cover this amazing game so well and I hope the guides keep coming and you keep having a blast! Thanks!
I played Io for most of the campaign but I felt weak going into the end game. Ended up switching to Vane for a bit and while farming for his Terminus weapon and sigils I, Instead, got both Io's sigils from transmarvel and her weapon to drop of Proto Bathmat. Without this video I'd still be playing her wrong though so thanks muchly for it. Having so much mobility is fantastic. Question though. Would slotting in War Elemental be worth while or have you noticed any dps increase?
Io is kind of weird because her skills deal other damage types like fire and ice and dark. So even against proto you can rationalize using war elemental.
I have been afk farming mastery points and getting all my characters to 100 long story short I have amassed a fair amount of curios I am getting ready to head into maniac. My question is should I hold on to those curios until I reach the last difficulty tier?
This somehow reminds me of Zeta's Infinite Wonders cast + dodge cancel tech to trigger double damage...my fingers get all tangled up especially when panicking 😂
Hey do you or does anyone know if the steady focus sigil is different from the stout heart sigil inside siero's store? Because not being interrupted for anything would be amazing
I always love your content but just a slight nitpick - Flowery Seven when you're at dmg cap will hit the same as the charge like you said so typically you just tap it. BUT the real value of it is it instantly generates a link attack typically right after Fire. So it makes it very easy to force links to generate Mystic Vortex (as well as more dps overall + more links.. Linked Together is truly a busted sigil). I'd argue that FS vs Thunder is the utility of Thunder really so if you wanna set up more for your team that makes sense. Also worth mentioning is Stargaze lv2 cancels as well especially when generating more Links since sometimes you won't have spells up and a Stargaze lv2 at cap will be more damage than an X charge a few times into Stargaze lv5
Dodge > cast spell >continue stargaze. Can evenndodge cancel the spell. Also thia can be used to gain potentially higher gaze, say you start the cast with only 2 orbs active (max tripple charged gaze) if you do your spell midcast it males an orb allowing for 4th gaze chargeup. Also you can increase speed if you do started with no speed and use spell, will continue with speed
I really appreciate the tips you share about Io here, but as someone who tried her out and gave it a shot, it requires way too much effort for not enough rewards in terms of mastering the character compared to others. Damage wise i mean obviously.
I think the reason why the uncharged Flowery Seven is just the same as the full charged one is because of Damage Cap your normal 7 already hits the cap or near it, meaning, the full 7 has a higher potential if Damage Cap can be pushed further, which I already see that you already have But yeah, this video helped a lot.
