You are such a good youtuber. You give us good reasons for delays and are clearly working on it in the meantime. Your projects are exciting, clearly explained, and fun to watch
Hey thanks! I really appreciate that. :)
Agreed.
wermy Instead of having a raspberry with mint leaves engraved on the red piece of 3d printed plastic, you should engrave a pie with mint leaves......minty-pi
I have no problem waiting, especially with these obvious and amazing improvements.Keep it up Wermy!
Stumbled upon your channel just now. Love it. Looking forward to following this project and the ones to come!
Pre-orders for mintyPi parts are up! Go to market.sudomod.com/ for more info!

wermy How does one insert games? I just subbed, so I'd appreciate an answer.
wermy by the way, this is awesome, and I think I'll make one when it's done
Games are loaded onto the microsd card and run through the built-in emulators on retropie. You can find more info about this if you look up videos about retropie.
Can't wait for the tutorial!
wermy are you selling these?
Thank you for the update! Glad to know the screen is so hard to find now, would hate to get other components too early and then hit a permanent stop point. Very excited.
love it, when people share their ideas and project freely. great contribution to the world.
Glad to see things are coming along. The project seems very accessible.
you are very creative and talented can't wait for another update keep it up!
I plan on this being my first real project with a Raspberry Pi. Thanks for trying to make the best guide possible, I'll wait patiently!
Wermy you are awesome! Thanks for all these awesome projects! Building my gameboy zero helped me through some tough time so Thank you very much for all your effort to share this stuff with us! Hi from germany!
Wow you are putting so much effort into this, thank you! Excited to try making mine.
OMG!!!! Thx for everything! I'm planning to do this as a summer build, so it'll be ready for school! Look forward to it. ;)
Beyond excited for this. I need a Pi summer project!
Yeah
Frigging awesome, cannot wait for more info, great job!
I subbed and I can't wait for the full tutorial. This is amazing and I can't wait to make a bunch for myself and the fam as gifts
I'm so excited to get this build started. I'm waiting for Kite's AIO board to ship so hopefully I can jump right into this after I'm done with that build.
So excited for this project!
This is great! Thanks for making it super easy for beginners to make this project. :)
i needed a summer project... this would be nice to do over the summer!
I am excited to see the guide
Thanks for the update. I am glad that the 3d printer parts will be available for purchase since I don't have a 3d printer(Looking into buy a 3d printer kit since there less expensive.)
cant wait to start this
yesss long time waiting
thanks for the update! :)
way to go on the 2 to 1 board layout!
So exited!!!!!!!
This is so awesome!
Can't wait!
yes
for the board that connects to the rpi's gpio why not have pins on it for bending over? then soldering would be a bit easier or for people who don't have access to a soldering iron they can bend the pins and put some epoxy over it?
This is really awesome, I hope you get the screen figured out soon! Also, is the Pi in the background playing itself?
I can't wait tell you make the project I have a lil bro that wants to play with one so I can't wait to make it for my lil bro
I love talking hands
ashens for the win!
made my day
Hiya, I was just curious what are you using on the bed of the 3d printer to print these out, for example blue painters tape or glass. I ask this because if you were to use glass, it would be possible to obtain a really nice and shiny front for the pieces. Also you may want to check how far your nozzle is from the bed and make sure that a piece of paper can easily slide between them (do this while it's off). Just a couple of things I wanted to say as I love 3d printing, but as well I would like to say that this is amazing. It has come such a far way and is so much nicer, though that being said the first version is still bad as* :)
Oh carp I can't wait til the parts are available!
But uhm....quick question...would you be willing to print purple color parts?
Will definitely be buying your button board, though I do hope you go through with that tutorial for making your own, as I'd like to apply that knowledge toward another project I'm planning.
Constructing one of those with the wright pieces sounds great, but just as a question will you ever sell those by themselves?
Is interested, but I have one question about this build (and please forgive me if it's a stupid one): are shoulder buttons possible?
pretty damned exited for this prject, how much is it going to cost to build? and what software can you run on it (aka what concoles are emulatable)
I have a question??? Can a Raspberry pi 3B fit in an altoids tin, so it has more power? if it doesnt fit maybe its possible to Modify the board to fit?
can you have an option have the select and start reachable with your right thumb
(hence why many rpgs switched from using start button to x/y/🔼
for easy access)
Is it possible for you and helder to make these boards for your projects available through kirsch-bent or handheld legend??
so... i can just buy the screen the tin. but were do i buy the control pad
really exited about this. I just built my very first pi project using spare parts around the house. it turned into a monstrosity. What's the estimated battery life on this thing?
hey wermy i have a question, is it possible to use a phone screen?
i don't have money to spend at the time but, i am sure i could do it with spare parts,
and the phone in question is a BlackBerry Curve 9310, oh,
and one more thing, i was wondering if you could make a video on how to make a mintypi
with spare parts, because there are (maybe) people (like me) that don't have the money
for some of the stuff needed, so please, reply and thank you if you read it,
+wermy where did you get the roms for the raspberry pi?\
Do you have any idea how much the mintypi board will cost? seeing how compact and easy this looks now this seems like a great project.
Hopefully I'll be able to actually get one of helders pcbs, they sell out fast
Will this be purchasable with all of the parts and fancy smancy things so I don't have to make one?
Will you sell a kit with all the printed parts and the case?
how do I use the lcd without the minty pi board?
how much are you charging for the for the button board and 3d printed parts? im on a budget of $50
can i add analogue joystick like on the playstation portable?
Thanks for the update.
Sounds good
THANK YOU!
What screen did you buy?
I have the old screen. How do I connect it?
I need one of those custom board... where can i purchase one?
will u be selling the screens or nah cuz if not could u tell us where to buy them thx
What would you make if you toke apart a 3ds
I have a question how do you recharge it????
Where do we find the equipment?
I luv this guy :)
how do you get the board
Will these adapters also work for 2.8" ili 9341 screens for other projects?
The screen board will work with 2.4" and 2.8" screens with that driver, BUT the 2.8 is too big for this project.
you should make holes for the cords that would be cool.
are the buttons you use mandatory or can other buttons or custom ones be used as well?and also is a way to fit a joystick like psvita or 3ds? great videos btw!
oh ok thanks for responding,i just thought he still used the ds buttons
Maybe a couple of 3DS Circle Pads could work.
Maybe a couple of 3DS Circle Pads could work.
how much will all the parts cost?
what happens if we don't have a 3d printer
you should use a 3ds joystick or something like it or close to it.
where do you go and get the custom boards printed i am just intressted
and what about l and r triggers
what screen is it
HYPE!!!!!!!!!!
This is really cool! I would buy one of these if I could. But I would still make one if there was a tutorial.
maybe there could be a way you could implement joysticks?
could you do a tutorial on how to do it
Still don't fully know how to setup the pi
still good
Subbed I need this!
Are right and left trigger buttons included in this mod? I can think of a couple GBA games that utilize those buttons. Or is the build solely meant for gameboy games? (I grew up with GBA, never played the first gameboy so I apologize if this is a dumb question lol)
Yep, it has L/R.
Where Can I buy One.
So, does this build utilise ds lite buttons?
yup
Is it possible to adjust the volume?
+ToManyToasters yep, you can hold the select button and press L/R to turn it up and down.
+wermy Hey, I'm thinking of getting into putting custom hardware like this together. This MintyPi is literally my dream console. A pocket sized emulator for 2d games.
Is there any guides to learn the basic skills and tools necessary to put like this together? I'd like to start making one as soon as you release the guide, assuming I won't need to spend thousands of dollars in equipment to do so.
What websites and tools would you suggest for a total newb like me?
is using gpio for buttons better than using a teensy
same thing really except the GPIO is setup as a keyboard so it's inherently easier to navigate the DOS like screens and it's one less device to power so it saves battery drainage.
Hey there is a waveshare 2.13 inch screen on amazon for $12 dollars
this is going to be so fuckin cool
are you selling any of these things
OOO HELL YEAH
The 2.2 screen is available in large quantities now.
Honestly, if you keep streamlining the process and making major improvements like this, I wouldn't mind waiting a while.
What about the compute module as a basis for a portable game
The case is great my thought process behind the compute module was if it fits lie the zero does that having the system on essentially sodium socket when the quad core cm comes out or the whatever core just a simple swap it. Love the design though
The latest CM would certainly be much more powerful, which would be nice. But it would also generate a lot more heat and use more power (close to Pi 3 levels I'd imagine). And given the tiny amount of space you have to work with in there, you don't really have room for analog sticks, multiple L/R buttons, etc. so you aren't really going to be playing N64 or PS1 games anyway. The Pi Zero really is perfect for something like this. :)
I am very interested in this project, but I don't own a 3d printer, and I have no experience with electronics. Is there a way to buy one? I'm comfortable with any price.
What do you mean?
And the shoulder button?
Yep, it has them.
WHAT IS THE POWER SOURCE. I can do all that but WHAT IS THE POWER SOURCE.
is it capable of retaining hdmi out?
thejackofclubs if you want, you probably could modify the altoids tin to access those ports, just don't know how well the mini HDMI cable will fit in
well my worry is that having video over serial might disable hdmi like it does on kites aio board
It doesn't disable it, but the problem that I've run into is that the resolution you set the video output to isn't compatible with some TVs/monitors.
can you just put together a kit and sell on amazon?
hey wermy do you have a mother who works at a school as a music teacher
I want to make a few and sell them, can I have you permission, if I don't I completely understand. Thanks!
sweet
This sounds like the music spawn wave uses
I has screen it is for arduino
