    One of the best shots in history. He saw a shot most golfers would never consider and few could hope to replicate if they were given all day to do it. And he did it.

    • @JammastaJ23
      @JammastaJ23 Год назад +5

      This was an amazing shot but he has much much better ones. Like if it doesn't cut enough he's just in the rough on the left and it doesn't look like that pitch is awful so the risk of failure isn't catastrophic if he doesn't pull it off. Like the bunker shot at the 2000 RBC didn't have the banana slice required but that was over water like 215 yards and it's a 2 shot swing if he doesn't flush it.

      As a 4 Hcp. golfer. This is an unimaginable shot for me and my skills. The skill. The concentration, the imagination and the fact Tiger most likely had not spent a great deal of time practicing that particular shot..... I mean who does? 145 yards from sand w/ 15 yards of air fade and another 10 or more yards of ground fade to 12 feet from the pen and all with an iffy lie in the bunker. WOW!

      Yes. When you are in the sand and you have a lot of club-head speed it will put even more spin on the ball than any shot you can hit from grass. The small grains of sand get between the ball and the face of the club at impact and increase the spin rate on the ball.

      The ball will always spin. The angle and grooves of the club impart backspin causing the dimpled ball to fly much farther and straighter than it otherwise would. On a perfectly hit straight shot anyway. But these guys very often play a little side spin onto the ball to hold it against wind etc, a variety of reasons.
      What you just witnessed here is nothing short of miraculous skill. Huge side spin and back spin. He was aiming almost 90 degrees to the hole when He hit the ball. Off a poor ball lie. Just incredible.

    • @MyAutumnFall

      No u turn, but he cut the hell out of it. His stance was wide open and knew he was going to cut it in there but wasnt expecting much side and back spin. Its hard to pull off a shot like that because he needs loft on the face, but picking it clean without the sand getting caught between the grooves and the ball is precise.
