because of Quest 2 64g owners, we never going to see triple A title games. Develpers will be too scare to make high quality game with big size gig because of 64g version owners. Good job FB for being greedy. 128g version suppose to be available on Day 1. Unfortunately 70% Quest 2 owners are 64g onwers. i bet Medal of Honor will be poor sale because of that

Yesterday I was in VR Chat painting and a kid came up and just tried to paint over everything.
I had locked the painting so he could do that, but then he went to someone else's painting and did the same thing, ruining it.
He then came back to me to tell me what he did and that the painter got mad.
I said, "Well did you ask if you could paint on their picture?" he said no.
I asked if he thought they would have liked you to paint over their art, and he said no.
So I asked, "Why did you do that." He then left.

We need some way to have adult-only rooms with age verification (even if there's a one-time payment to get verified). If kids want to play amongst themselves, let them, but it would be great to have a way to filter them out.
It works the same way in real life, you have different spaces for different age groups.

    • @madshader
      @madshader 3 года назад +40

That just makes the kids ruin other kids. It has to come down to parenting, tbh. And yeah, age verification by way of signing up for playing the game in multiplayer should def be a thing. But what would really help is a moderation system in place, where you can report problem people and if enough reports come in on that person, they get flagged for disciplinary actions like suspensions or bans.

When I realized I might have struck a nerve I immediately changed my avatar into one with similar colors and started pretending to be his BFF. Complimenting the yellow and head patting and it was the most amazing thing: he totally turned his attitude around. He was friendly and started to help others shoot the guns, showing them how it’s done. He went on to follow us to Furhub and instantly bonded with another person there over their avatar’s gun. He went from angry to enthused so quickly. It’s the ones most seemingly “unworthy” of love that need it the most. It’s amazing what a little kindness can do.

Stopped using VRChat for the exact reasons mentioned. Kids running amok and ruining the experience no matter where you try and hide. The more popular the room the worse it is. I would really like developers and moderators to find a way of incorporating age verification into sign in and then maybe stratify access so the little punks and punkettes can 'play' together and us grown up have our zones. Presumably kids want to hang out with their mates, not grown ups so why not let them have exclusive access to age orientated rooms. I know that blocking is an option but no sooner have you blocked one than another pops up. Also many times it's not 'bad' behaviour as such just immature behaviour i.e. kids being kids.

I think the fire risk is probably mostly due to the magnetic connections.. Those magnetic connections could attract little pieces of metal that can cause a short circuit and arc. they could literally fill with metallic powder or bits. I had this happen to me. Thankfully in my case, I became aware of it before any arcing occurred. And the device I was using was not using high wattage charging. It was mostly a data cable.
As for kids in VR being toxic. I am pretty quick to use the "block" and/or "mute" feature so i don't have to deal with them. What i like is what Recroom is doing to foster helpfulness encouraging and kindness towards fellow players.. they often run daily challenges which include "cheer"ing a fellow player in recroom. This kind of reminds me of some of the principles taught in the scouts.

One thing that's worth mentioning with Oculus charging ports melting is that the outlet which the device is being plugged into could be one meant for a different device. Most people are unaware that many of these devices have a combination of voltage and current to charge a connected device at maximum speed that may not be rated for usage with the Oculus. Everything may seem normal at the beginning but as you mentioned you could soon run into a fire/safety hazard.

It's sad that a small minority of people are ruining VR for a larger group. Also games such as hyperdash now have lobbies for higher level players, and I'm yet to encounter any rude young kids in these ones.

my younger brother (by 9 years) has only really experienced screaming at his friends over discord or smacking away at an ipad.

Human eyeballs can change their focal length to match the distance to objects, an abilty that is the stongest when very young(8 yrs old) and is almost lost at 60 years old. But every commercial VR right now has fixed focal length(around 2m), so when children are looking through the headset their eyes could be under high stress which could lead to nearsightedness or worse.

The problem is that people tend to think of VR as just a video game. But there is some sense in thinking of it as an actual reality. Like would you allow kids to walk around a red light district in your city? Or enter a pub/bar? Like in VR chat there are worlds where people like to hang out while drinking at home physically but with buddies in VR simultaneously. I was on VR Chat the other night and saw this group of people talking about their sex lives in a corner of some bar world. I think they were around 18-22 and it was like a frathouse convo pretty much and got pretty spicy (they were talking about what seemed to me like borderline date rape). A couple of 10 year olds started hanging out around them and they didn't stop (why would they? Setting aside the ethics of their topic they were in a virtual bar anyway which was clearly made for adults). Seeing the kids there made me really uncomfortable somehow.

I have used my 64gb Q2 with vr power 1, I'm ashamed to say that VR power 1 didnt last longer than 3 months before it started to show signs of quicker discharge and taking longer to charge because quite literally I was using this for about 5 hours every day, I was aware of a possible battery failure at one point though it hasnt happened yet and because of this video im getting my self a fresh new one as we speak xD im highly satisfied with it for balancing the headset and prolonging headset use, just not with its life span, im guessing because I was pretty aggresive with it.
Though if I ever went on cable or if I ran a cable to the port while in use, I always ran it between the left arm and the headset, I never used anything to secure outside of that arm. on cable I ran it between those two spots and gave it some lenght, if I ever pulled on it it would get wedged between those two spots, the same thing with the cable for the battery pack.
I dont have any knowledge on the headset, the only thing I would say that has failed me was the head of the L shaped C port connection, where it started to bend independently from the rubber body, I inspect my stuff before use and I felt that at some point if it bended and snapped off I would be left with live leads; eventually dangling next to my cheek, we all know how conductive liquid is with salt, if you are sweating a lot.

I think VR experiences (with a positive influence) could mean the world to a child coming from a negligent or even dangerous environment. It’s so confusing and lonely as a kid.

The problem is with how there brain develops motor skills tho right so wouldn't messing up a kids ability to move around in real life be worse for then then anything (unless you mean kids that are above the recommended age specifically in which case ignore me lol)

Sometimes when I turn on my quest 2 with the PC link cable or air link, it makes a super loud screeching noise that rapidly gets faster and is almost ear bleeding loud

Yeah my quest 2 64GB is basically a paper weight now but wait now I only can play certain games I bought it 4 months before they announced the 128 gigIf I would've known there were the upgrade the same size for the same price I would've waited or I would've bought the bigger size if I wouldn't known the games would be that big

I feel like that could be the fan, since that is likely one of the most prominent moving pieces. It could be something more serious though, so definitely make sure to contact Oculus support about it and see if you can have the issue identified.

If you go into the original android system settings in the meta quest 2 and disable the quick actions menu the whole universal menu disappears and you can't access it back unless if you factory reset it

I was in a public vrchat lobby the other night and a kid who couldn't have been more than 8-9 was talking and singing some childrens song. The older kids started roasting him and calling him homophobic slurs and the little kid started crying and you could hear him sobbing over the mic. It was pretty sad and kind of made me realize how detrimental it can all be without proper moderation and parenting in place.

On Saturday, I had to get a new Quest 2 because my previous Quest 2 just randomly made an electrical arc noise and then started to overheat the external battery and the quest 2 both. Totally unexplainable because nothing else changed.
Same cable, same battery, and no hits that I know of to the cable / quest connector (regular cable / non-magnetic). Luckily I had a store-warranty so it only cost me the price of a new warranty (for the new Quest 2) to replace it. But it was scary because I knew I had 2 batteries on my head and I've seen enough videos of fires on rechargeable electronics to be frightened. Good video!

Hi The Mystical! I noticed you read your comment section so I thought I might as well ask in case you or another person sees my question and answers it. I actually am interested in this magnetic charging device, but I couldn’t find the link in the description. Any help?

This is the one I personally have :) I like it because it's round and allows the cable to rotate so it disconnects less. Cool part is you can also find magnetic round right angle cables that just make it look super clean. www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07VXVS6ZH/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_fabc_8ST7W7VPW30YD9YG6ASK

to protect that port, just get a "magnet USB-C adapter 20 pin" and stick it to the quest with some 3M VHB double sided adhesive. that adapter support full data and power transfer rates, and it's super sleek.
