By the way you dont list the Merida bike details in your description for this video. Actually you dont list the bike models in the description . Maybe you should add it. I have a Vitus VRX, Ive become a big fan of theirs and vote for the Vitus, with the Merida a close second. If I had a larger wallet with price no object, maybe the other two would be more in consideration.
Inflation of prices of EVERYTHING has done that. Also, manufacturers have realized new tech sells very well. Money being put into R and D brings prices up. And of course nothing is cheap when it's brand new. There's more but that's the most obvious 2.
A pint in 2008 £3.20 In 2024 £6.50 House round the corner from me in 2006 £240,000 In 2024 £680,000 Gym membership per month 2014 £40 2024 £64 Why would a bike in 2006 cost the same in 2024? My problem is, my wages are not going up at the same rate as everything else
I know mate, it’s flipping mental, but you can tell the difference between the so called entry models versus those bikes discussed in this video. I purchased a Merida during Covid for $1K and it’s total rubbish. If I had my time again, I hate to say it, I’d save up $3k to buy something “decent”. However, we Consumers are also part of the problem
I find the BikeRadar reviews to be very informative and entertaining, but wonder how they come up with the top 3. In the past, the Giant Defy came out as the endurance bike of the year. They seem to rotate brands...is this due to $ from the bike companies? Are the bikes included in 2023 due to larger tire clearances? The Vitus sounds like a nice bike, but when I looked at the geometries, they come closer to race bikes...pretty close in stack/reach to the Supersix Evo. So no matter how compliant the frame may be, if I am reaching down or out extensively, after a 5+ hour ride my neck & back will be challenged.
@bikeradar - for the Vitus Evo, can you add spacers? While the bike looks brilliant, it’s reach and stack suggest it’s more Aero than endurance and/or gravel.
If it’s top three of only three tested it’s not really a top three is it. You need to test all endurance bikes and explain why these trump others, otherwise it’s just a sponsored video to sell three bikes.
8:59 he mentioned they tested bikes from $3k to $9k, and also mentioned that these were the podium finishers. They never show the entire field in these videos, just the top contenders. You *did* watch the video, right?
The Trek SLR bikes are not a good comparison to these bikes. The similar bike will be the SL bike. The SLR frames are specced higher and the weight is usually 1-250 grams lighter.
@bikeradar I have been watching a lot of videos with Warren Rossiter testing the bikes.Someone knows his height in order to have a reference of the size and position of the testing bikes. I think it may be helpful. Thanks in advance!
Thanks for your comment. Vitus says the RS build with Prime carbon wheels (as tested here) will be released in future, once they've got stock. We only learnt of this close to launch, unfortunately. The price (£4,699) is accurate according to the latest price list we've had from Vitus.
Like the Vitus and the Merida.. any recommendations on which would be better for tall big boned rider. 190cm I dont see any mention of mounts. So these are pure endurance, not for bikepacking I guess. So it seems your partly being charged for the name with the recognised brands. With the right tyres (40mm) can these bikes be used for gravel or mild off road stuff ?
Hi, it depends on what you ride usually and your personal preference. The size large has an effective 571mm top tube & 587mm stack/396mm reach so is about a traditional 57cm which should suit someone 6’1” whereas the medium comes up around about a traditional 55cm which could be on the small side. There's a geometry table in the written review www.bikeradar.com/reviews/bikes/road-bikes/vitus-venon-evo-rs-aero-force-axs-review
The quick steering on the Vitus is mentioned a few times, this seems completely at odds with the slack head angle.. you can't really have both at the same time.

Real gravel/enduro needs to be running 38mm tires... I live in Vietnam and would not go any smaller.. Makes the ride great and you can still get a bit of speed whilst taking the bumps of rough roads.

One issue the bike review industry hasn’t addressed properly is sizing. With so many mail order-only brands, which includes Vitus in the UK, buying a bike means gambling on it being the correct fit and being prepared to return it unused if it isn’t. That’s a headache. Reviewers should spend more time on this, ideally showing people of differing heights, body shapes etc. sitting on the bikes so that viewers can get a clearer impression. It’s like watching car reviewers say “this sedan has great passenger headroom!” without saying how tall they are. I’m aware that stack, reach etc. figures are given but to most people they are meaningless, particularly since bike geometry varies across brands. Warren - please take control of the entire industry and solve this!
I don’t mind watching a paid ad. I do that all the time to GCN videos. However, I despise content creators not adhering to RUclips policy that requires them to say it’s an ad. If I have to make it up myself, I become skeptical of the things you’re saying.
Out of the 3 brands here are you really arguing that the Vitus doesn't have wider tyre clearance & a better value spec which are the dominating advantages pointed out? Do you not think you would play up to the other brands more given that PON & Merida are far larger & more influencial players in the cycling industry? There are plenty of other RUclipsrs that just happen to give more favourable reviews to brands that supply them with the most free stuff that enables them to produce content.
@@ariffau Hi Arif, quite simply, we don't do paid reviews on BikeRadar. The Vitus Venon Evo is a new bike so, while Warren has been riding it for a few months, the official launch was embargoed, hence the two videos you mention being released on the same day. The same goes for other coverage online about this bike. Love them or hate them, product launch embargoes are common in the cycling industry, and almost every other industry.
Which of these bikes would be your winner?

Has anybody making comments actually watched the video and listened to it ?
None. Bmc road machine is mine
The type of bikes most of us should be riding.....personally, I like the Look 765 Optimum, after having a few Synapse and Domane.
Was up in the air between the Merida sculptural endurance 6000 & Cannondale synapse carbon 3L so this video was perfect
Vitus Venon looks like an absolutely fantastic quiver killer, but it appears getting one to Canada will be near impossible.
I still can’t get over the price of bikes these days. It is like we have been brain washed into accepting £3500 is a normal price!!!

Where can you buy the Vitus now that chain reaction and Wiggle are gone ?
Months later, still the only real review of the Vitus on RUclips. Can you please return it so someone else can review? ;)
Giant Defy Advanced for me,just ordered one

Thanks for the through review. Super informative!
Thanks for the review, but the Vitus is impossible to buy in Australia... guess it'll be the Merida for me.

Looks like a nice frame, but $6400 for a Shimano 105 group? I thought Specialized and Treks were expensive...
You can’t actually buy the Vitus as tested here (2x12 with Carbon rims on road tyres). Why review a bike that consumers can’t purchase.
