1:56 it makes perfect sense to me, Gi Hun would only hire people he could put 100% faith in, on the flip side, the person they chose to be the double crosser (boat captain) is perfect, the officers life was saved by him so he can feel as if he has full faith in him, but the captain also just so happened to coincidentally find this man nearby the murder island.
Plus, if you think about it, the captain was 100% keeping the islands location hidden from him at first until he was given orders to actually allow them to infiltrate. I think next season Gi Huns whole crew will be in the games with him, people he trusts, and who trust him, in a game where they have to potentially kill one another.
    Makes for some great drama.
P.S. i also found it refreshing that none of Gi Huns crew double crossed, and was pleasantly surpised by the boat captain being a traitor. I would have predicted Gi Huns crew being traitors, but i didnt see the boat captain coming.

Very good season, though it ended in too abrupt of a fashion. Feels like they intentionally saved much of the story in order to preserve a third season.

8:10 obviously he had immunity in red light green light as he didn't participate, but I think/am almost certain he had immunity during the spinning platform game. I think the time he got split up from the main characters he actually hid in some room all by himself and perhaps during the last round any normal player may not have been saved if they choked out someone. It wasn't necessaily pointed out death people don't count as players

7:08 I think the whole point of the front man is just to have him convince gihun that the games aren't just cruel, but an opportunity. The same idea/view he and oh Ill nam (the old guy/001 from s1) had. He didn't want to blow his cover as he may have realized that gihun is simply very gullible and could be talked into things and ideas. The front man doesn't want to make himself sus and seen as a threat as that would interfere with this approach.
Perhaps the front man even set out a game for himself to see if he can convince gihun, without relying on straight up (personally) attacking him. It wasn't until the special game that he may have realized gihun has grown mentally and has planned ahead enough to create certain problems that are too big to handle. Therfore he had to rely on violence.

Season 2 is basically a completely different kinda show. It sadly doesn't hold the same mystery as season 1, but we knew that going into it.
I personally would say I like many aspects a lot more than season 1. Especially the other contestants. They're soo different from eachother (except for the part that apparently they're like all marines /s) . I loved Thanos and his cringy goofy gimmick, the old lady was great and the amount of connections/relations people had to eachother was absolutely amazing. The trans girl was written really nicely and didn't feel like a "forced woke character" like they do in some shows.
I absolutely loved how the frontman was playing and talking with gihun. Gihun trying to persuade him, while the front man was just trying to slowly make gihun see the games from his and Ill nam's point of view.
The games were really fun to watch too. I felt soo incredibly good when the team of the old lady beat all the mini games. The spinning platform music may be stuck in my head for a while but it was so nicely chaotic.
For whatever reason I finally did get some anxiety watching gihun compete, to me it truly felt like he could actually die this season. Compared to his main character plot shield I expect every mc to have in their first season.
What I absolutely hated however was the delusional idea of gihun.. That he and a dozen of other players could just take out all of the guards... Well atleast they didn't have some infinite ammo buff and got f'ed up.

in regard to the Gi-hoon's delusional idea, I think that's the point the show is making. every rebellion of an oppressed group against a well-equipped, established institution is gonna feel hopeless and like an uphill battle where the chance of losing is way higher. that's the case with Gi-hoon's strike in his previous job. that's the case with rebellions in our real world. we just see it so much clearer in the show because it has been depicted through a more focused lens. doesn't mean people will stop rebelling. if they're oppressed enough, that's bound to happen. Gi-hoon might want to start a revolution but he still lacks a lot to actually lead one, and the cost for any revolution is high, not to mentioned a failed one.

I liked what we got for the most part. But I can't really have an opinion on it, because it isn't a complete season. It doesn't have a conclusion. If season 3 sucks, then season 2 will too.
Also I really didn't like how rushed the last episode was. The plan didn't make sense, people joining him didn't really make sense and they should have addressed the money part. Nobody was kidnapped, they went there willingly, and many of them even voted to stay.
I should be going HELL YEAH LETS REVOLT!
But instead I went, but why are we doing this?
Also The Front Man clearly had immunity in both games. If his team lost, the rest of them would get shot and he wouldn't. And he most likely had a room reserved for himself in case he didn't make it.
Also I don't feel like it was supposed to be a twist that he turned on him. Because WE KNOW that he's a mole, we're just waiting for the shit to hit the fan

I agree that squid games is built on our connection to the characters but I think we got 2 or 3 more characters than necessary this season and I neither care about their story line nor have they died lol Nobody. Has. Died. 😂 besides like 2 people. And how did Gi hun not think about infiltration happening again?? And it being by the same player 001?! I was like bro! How are you not side eyeing him?! lol also, I liked Thanos much more than I expected but I felt he deserved a better ending. And Miss Cleo just isn't hitting. Also, I predicted this season would be about greed and voting from the trailers but I think they OD'd on those themes. Thanks for the review!

I agree. It's not as good as the first season, but it's a fun ride and better written than most shows.

I liked it but the final episode is the worst one. According to the Frontman, every person is self-centered and greedy. Then why don't the O's attack the X's after Gi-Hun leaves with the guns. Like they want the money and they could eliminate every player in that room if they wanted. I think it would have been a better ending if Gi-Hun returned to the bedroom and almost everyone of the X's side would have died. It would give a lot of credit to the Frontman's ideology and it would be more satisfying if Gi-Hun wins in the final season.

because the Frontman's ideology is wrong. I mean the show is consistently proving with may characters that yes, while there are shitty people, there are also people capable of selflessness and kindness. we even see the Frontman having several moments of doubting himself when he's in the game. for him, it's confirmation bias. as soon as Gi-hoon says "some people on team X needs to be sacrificed for the rebellion to succeed", the Frontman got his confirmation while ignoring every other times in the game when people have been kind to each other or helped each other.
