Beautiful song in honor of bass player Ron LaPread's wife who passed away after having become ill when she had joined the band on tour. After they got home she was diagnosed with cancer and when Ron was at his piano Cathy came and worked out the melody of the song with him. He took back to the band and they asked what was it called and he simply told them (sic) "It's like, you know, Zoom.

I never learned to play a musical instrument. I didn't know it at the time--but, what my 8th grade Music Appreciation teacher taught me about the specifics of music?...would enhance my enjoyment of the "listening" experience.
I learned about pitch; keys; harmony; timing; chord progression; etc. Basics that also taught me how to pinpoint the things that I liked--AND DISLIKED about the music I heard. This learning process taught me patience, when confronted with new musical genres. If you're not taught the essential "basics" of music---you'll be extremely limited in terms of what you'll be able to understand about the music you hear.
Also, having a sense of what the basics (pitch; harmony; key) are gives you a sense of what they DO; and how they work to produce the music you enjoy. This knowledge gives you a broader vocabulary in which to describe what you are actually hearing. This is precisely why so much of today's "pop" music sounds essentially the same.
Yeah...they sell millions more records; but, the quality of the music just isn't there. This is also why when these "kids" grow out of adolescence?--they're digging through their parents music collection. They're thirsty.
And, they don't even know what they're thirsty for.
If a person has a limited vocabulary, there's only so far they can go--as they attempt to describe what they're actually thinking. You don't have to be able to play music to possess a vocabulary that allows you to describe what excites you about it. But---having an awareness of what a "musical palette" consists of gives you more tools, (words) to describe precisely what you're hearing.
Personally, (with the exception for jazz)...I don't see R&B being elevated in a way that is adding onto what has already been created in the past.
And it really makes me sad.
      (Sorry for the rant.)

    Another contribution to the cause..
    "Could You Be Loved"
-- the late, great Bob Marley
    "Black Magic Woman "
    -- Carlos Santana
    "Flamingo"
-- Lee Morgan in trumpet 🎺
Instrumental. Not sure it fits your YT reactions channel but judging from your reactions so far, I think you'll enjoy this.
