i mean reaching black blade is the top of swordsmanship , if zoro does it that means he has reached mihawk's lvl and surpassed shanks and personally i dont see him doing that in elbaf , maybe next arc for sure
SHANKS is way stronger than Mihawk, black blade means nothing, and ODA never said that Mihawk turned YORU black, I'm sure all the black blades have been made by the same person, RYUMA... Same way as there was only one JOYBOY before Luffy... Any strawhat want to achieve something that nobody (alive) did, something that has only been made in the void century, it will be the same for ZORO
A black blade is too significant narratively wise for him to get it this soon in Elbalf. He's gotta get advanced observation haki first & actually have multiple high level fights. A BB should be his last actual power up as the significance is not only that he's ready to challenge Mihawk but he has now reached a plain that only Mihawk & The Sword Ryuuma have done as far as we know. One was known as The Sword God & The Other as The WSS Somehow gaining it in Elbalf when he has opponents like Shiryu, potentially Fujitora, and Nusjuro who also don't have black blades doesn't really make much sense in the grand scheme of things.
I'm calling it now that at some point, Zoro is going to get no diffed by Holy Knight Shanks- fall to the Underworld- then have a mini training arc of fighting his way back up to the crew and possibly even "dying" to only be resurrected through sheer will power alone

Honestly, I don't see Enma turning black unless all 3 turn black. Kuina's blade is the one I see turning since it just fits for the one he's had since the start to become his black blade
Well well, guess which swordsman dressed in a black cloak like the Grim Reaper just appeared on Elbaf last chapter? Could it be Shanks's evil twin Phanks? Also known as Zoro's Elbaf arc swordsman opponent/victim.😂
I don't see this happening during the course of the story at all tbh. Its something he might achieve in the epilogue type of stories that comes after. He doesn't really NEED a black blade at this point to beat Mihawk.
@strykervirus1724 Character who wield swords can reach the pinnacle of strength without a blackblade. Look at Roger, Shanks, Rayleigh. Unlike the other three Zoro follows Bushido and will have black blades but not when he is just 21 yrs old. Eventually, of course and I think Wado Ichimonji will go black first.
@EasternDeath Hmm, is getting a black blade only limited to those who follow "bushido"? I don't recall Mihawk following one. And I quite remember that "any blade can become a black blade." I get what you're saying, but the story setup sorta indicates Zoro has to awaken a black blade in the course of the story rather than at a time nobody care about it. And if he achieves the world strongest without it, then what's even the point of forging it black either way?
@strykervirus1724 'Bushido' dictates that you only fight exclusively with blades. Though not stated outright, Mihawk definitely fits that bill, he could have fought Zoro with his finger nails if he wanted to. I agree with you on the narrative perspective that Zoro should unlock a black blade.but strength wise he wouldn't need to is what I meant.
@EasternDeath Bushido is the way of warrior, the codex of Samurai during feudal Japan, which promoted the importance of loyalty, honor, and martial arts. The Bushido philosophy refers to not fearing death and dying for valor. I don't see where they say fights can only be done with only swords. But forming a black blade is a strength feat. Ryuma forged one after many battles/ Mihawk fought until there were none left to challenge him (strength feat)... which leads to haki. You need haki to form a black blade. The more you fight, the more you grow your haki and the likelihood to forge a black blade.
Wano Ichimoji has to be the first black blade of the trio.Maybe enma? and also maybe the grim reaper confronted him because Choppers drug that made Zoro able to fight again made him overcome death? (so grim reaper comes whenever ur about to die)
Imo, the cursed sword that Zoro has having the legend of every weilder dying a painful/extremely awful death is the basis of Zoro overcoming the will of that sword with his own. We've seen him almost die insane ways like when facing Mihawk, Thriller Bark w Kuma, and Wano after fighting King w the "super juice" Chopper gave him; I think that's the purpose of the sword, but who knows maybe there is more to it than meets the eye like w what you said of that Gorosei member having a Kitestsu blade as well
Love ur vids man n I agree although I really like the idea of zoro keeping sandai or reforging it since it’s HIS sword cos he’s the first and only person to be its master it’s what he found by pure luck or destiny literally at the start of their pirate journey in the grandline
I highly doubt he can surpass Roger and Shanks in Elbaf. Notice how Joyboy’s Haki was said to be none hostile unlike Shanks and we know that Joyboy is able to seal his Haki In objects. The closest hint we ever got to this unique ability is making a Black Blade and we know Haki is definitely involved in the process. Surprisingly Mihawk is known for his calmness in battle which contrasts with Shanks. During Whitebeard’s meetings Shanks couldn’t keep his Haki under calm. During Wano he almost knocked out his own Crewmen with WiFi Haki. A Black Blade requires a Joy Boy level of Haki mastery which Zoro isn’t ready for. It Make sense since Haki is the pinnacle of all meaning the pinnacle of Haki technique could be used in all form of fighting styles.
heres my theory, zoro somehow gets lost and is stuck in the underworld. the grim reaper comes for zoro and zoro tries to imbue his swords with haki but enma uses all his haki so only it turns black. zoro's main drawback to using enma is that it requires complete focus on his haki to effectively use it, if the blade turns black and constantly has haki flowing through it, zoro can imbue stronger haki into the other swords. this gives zoro a huge powerup and lets him beat the grim reaper using just enma, then we cut to sanji one shotting every enemy in one base kick because #SANGENDA SANJI BETTER LIL BRO
