So glad to see Mr. Truck back! The super Ike is legendary at this point
Thanks
If it wasn't 81k I would get one in a heartbeat. V8s will be around for awhile and may never go away with the alternative fuel development. They have predicted the demise before, and once things were adapted, it was better than ever.
you can get them for 70k w/ max towing if you don't need the top badge
At $81,000 it should have an integrated trailer brake controller. Otherwise pretty impressive for a SUV
should be 3/4 ton or heavy dudy half at the least
That a 2024 duramax 2500 price
the max towing models do, and weight tow capability goes up to 8200-8400
I'm so glad you are doing more of the towing test. Fun videos and it's neat to see how these vehicles do when maxed out. Thanks guys
Dang Mr. Truck looks like he's been in the gym! Looking good! And love the comradery between the Big Truck Boys!
Thanks, what is a gym?
You can tell Mr truck wanted to give less stars for not having a brake controller, that long pause was priceless 🤣 and I agree, a SUV that cost over $81k that has a hitch but no brake controller WTH GM? But anyway another great video and keep up the good work guys!
If its a gm its not an suv, its a robbery
No panoramic roof either
Both are options available on the vehicle. Chevy dropped the ball not sending one with the brake controller. They KNOW TFL will do the Ike with it. Not every owner will tow with the vehicle. In fact fewer will tow with this than will tow with a pickup. Not every pickup has one either. I support it being an option.
Thanks
Even better that the Tahoe is how Mr. Truck looks.
Looks like he lost a lot of weight, and he looks more young and full of energy.
Good for you Mr. Truck! Whatever you are doing, keep it up.
He does look good!! Good ol’ Mr Truck!!! I’ve been watching them do the Ike for 10 years!! I was sold on the first ecoboost F150 they took up the mountain.
He didn’t want to die of wuflu
@@jasonlarsen3515 faucci fever
Thanks so much, lost 57, got to loose 100 lbs.
@@MrTruckTV stud. Nice work
As always the Ike's are my favorite videos especially with Mr Truck back in them. Well done guys. By the way, during my last visit to the US, I had a 5.3 Tahoe as my run around. What a brilliant vehicle. In South Africa I drive a Ford Everest which is basically one of the biggest SUV's available. You are lucky to have access to such vehicles.
Thanks
Mr. Truck and Andrew are an excellent review team!
Thanks
TFL really needs to test the updated 3.0L duramax.
Im suprised they havent discontinued it
@@TheAnnoyingBoss - it’s almost 30% of all 1/2 ton sales, especially work trucks, as per the dealership I use. They also sell more 2.7s (not unlike Ford) as work trucks. They are much cheaper to run overall than a 5.3, both now outperform the 5.3 and the 6.2 is an expensive option as well as it is expensive to run.
@@shitloveaduckeh i wouldn’t say the 2.7 outperforms the 5.3 maybe by a little mileage but not power
@@TheAnnoyingBossit’s a very good motor with great mpg
@@guamazolopez6456 you would be wrong. The hp is close, but the 2.7 has 420 lb ft of torque with it kicking in really low. It’s quite wide as well. It definitely outperforms the 5.3. I’ve ridden in both trucks as crew cabs back to back and it impresses. On the top end hp outperforms torque of course but up to 70-75 mph,, yup!
HAPPY SATURDAY EVERYONE.......HAVE A GOOD DAY......THANKS GUYS FOR ANOTHER GREAT SATURDAY SHOW 👏👏👏....
About time! Now you have to do these test with the other two avaiable engines
Nothing like some humor and antics from Andre and Mr. Truck! 🤣🤣
Thank you for watching!
Hit the brakes HARDER Andrei ! The truck is waiting for a strong brake event before activating Grade Braking. It will tell you in the dash when it turns ON.... :)
lol 😂 once you start turning into your senior years like them they don’t recognize the smaller things
Lol Mr. Truck even said that to Andre
GMs downgrade shifting is terrible compared to my Ram. My Ram will downshift with ease and hold it my Chevy I need all the brakes especially coming to a complete stop going down a hill
It’s been a long time since last time I watched Ike Gauntlet test with Mr Truck
7 days ago
Thanks
Really like the Tahoe and GMC Yukon. Thanks for this video!
On gm hold the tow/haul mode button for 3 seconds and grade braking should be on.
Great video! Still not liking the stars rating. 3 and a quarter plus a quarter is 3 and 1/2. I like the point system better. As for the vehicle, I was surprised to see that payload capacity on such a performance based suv. Pretty nice.
Yes 1/4 star half star too confusing and doesn't add up right old point system was far easier and able to critique more. If you want to still do the star system instead of point make each category whole number stars 3 out of 4 etc.
Mr Truck and an Ike Gauntlet, It’s a good morning! 👍
Agreed.
Yes sir…you know it will be a great video when Andre & Mr. Truck get together to run up & down the Ike Gauntlet…😉.
Happy Easter 🐣 to all the TFL team & fans out there !!!
Thanks
The Saturday Super Ike series is awesome, and I'm sure I am nor alone when I say that I appreciate your efforts to do a Super Ike every single Saturday. The Tahoe was pretty impressive, especially on the uphill run. Still, at this price range, a brake controller should be integrated from the factory.
Another great video featuring Mr. Truck! So glad you guys are featuring him again!
Thanks
Didn’t know Mr T has a twin…lol..Easter greeting to the whole crazy squad..txs for all ur videos xx
Cool
Love Ike Saturdays!
It's been a while since I've watched the tow videos and I'm surprised that you've simplified your rating system so much - I frankly think it's been dumbed down to such a degree that's it's not very useful anymore.
I agree completely with this.
Question on the Towing sticker. Why does GM state that the maximum tongue weight is 760lbs (10% of 7600) when most conventional trailering info states tongue weight should be AT LEAST 10%? Does GM have a provision for weight distributing to allow for a little higher than 10%?
THANK YOU FOR EXPLICITLY STATING THE TOWED WEIGHT
I greatly appreciate it
I really like the look of this truck.
@Steven I think that has to do with the load balance. They look pretty stout when they're not towing.
@Steven I see what you mean. I've actually noticed that trend on many vehicles as of late. Must be some sort of aero related shape.
But no one likes the cost
Don't the magnetic ride suspension prevent or help prevent the nose from diving?
I would like to see them tow with the Expedition to compare it seems like they never tested a Expedition at all
Haven’t heard the background noise before on the downhill…til now. Different mic? Placement?
Did you do a sound check on the way down?
Still patiently waiting for an Ike Gauntlet with the new 2023 Silverado 1500 2.7L H.O. Turbo.
Will most likely blow up
@@edg5312 Why would you say that?
Yes I agree
@@alberry8400 Because towing while maxed out on the Ike requires an actual engine lol
@@edg5312 I'm a Chevrolet Dealer and since the inception of the 2.7L Turbo in the 2019 Silverado we have sold MANY of these, with great customer feedback from the customers that have purchased them. In fact, we have a number of customers who are on their 2nd or 3rd Silverados with the 2.7L Turbos, and when they went to trade-in their old ones they specifically wanted the 2.7L Turbos again to replace them. Also, just an fyi...of all the 2.7L Turbos we have sold since the beginning (and once again we have sold MANY of them), we have had ZERO come back through the shop with engine problems (I wish I could say the same for all the other engines we sell, including V8's). Not sure if you're aware, either, but the new 2.7L Turbo has 430 pound-feet of torque (more than our very own 5.3L V8 and more than other engines that other Manufacturers produce that most people would consider an "actual engine").
Mr. Truck has been sharpening his comedy tools.
It's fun reviewing with Andre
In tow haul mode. GM vehicles will downshift with a extremely light touch of the brake pedal. Then usually stay more aggressive on engine braking until you hit the gas pedal . Do not ask me why GM set it up that way lol.
I can see Gm putting the caddy escalade V engine in a Tahoe at some point. MAYBE?
That would probably put this Tahoe over $100k. At that point might as well just get the caddy.
How does the Ford Excursion / Lincoln Navigator compare?
Mr Truck with donut jokes🤣
No offence to the officers
One thing you guys didn't comment on was the mirrors. The mirrors on the new generation Tahoe/Suburban/Yukon are really small, and pretty much a deal breaker for me considering buying one.
Downhill: 0.75 star
Uphill: 1 full star
Towing Features: 0.5 star
Comfort / Handling: 0.75 star
Efficiency: 0.75 star
TOTAL: 3.75 stars
So your saying size matters, I have seen some after market towing add on mirrors that integrate really good on the current F150, for around $100 on Amazon, they might make one fir the Tahoe.
Love this duo!
Thanks
A guy at work bought a 2018 6.2 RST Tahoe used with 10k miles in early 2020 for 52K. Alot more attractive at that price.
Building and ordering one of these possibly, BUT with the performance pkg you CANT have the max towing pkg nor can you have the cooling system and trailer brake controller and it removes the roof rails and no sunroof option. Consider this the SRT of the Tahoe.
Oh, I was hoping it was a diesel variant. My better half wants to trade in her Ecodiesel for a 4x4 SUV diesel. I am surprised it doesn't have a hill sensor and no brake controller.
Good luck, they're doing away with a lot of the diesel engines even in the trucks. I don't remember the last one they actually put in an suv.
You and Mr Truck are a comedy team 🤣 😂 😅.
Thanks
Has Andre done an Ike/Super Ike with the GM 3.0L Duramax?
my 2021 Ford Expedition tows 9,300. The new Jeep Grand Wagoneer will tow 10K. Even a Durango can tow 8,'700 when properly equipped. The GM SUVs may be good at carrying passengers but definitely not for towing
P.S. the GM trucks do sound fabulous. Wish my EcoBoost sounded better
I do wish they would make the Tahoe in a 2500 kind of like the excursion… be grateful for large families that want to take a trailer out
I think Mr. Truck might be nipping before the trips 🤷♂️
The cold air intake and performance exhaust should be standard on all 6.2L .... I've got a 22' 6.2L Refreshed Trail Boss it tows my trailers very well. My 2018 Silverado LTZ 6.2l had the Brembo brakes $400 for the front pads is a ridiculous price.
I wish they would talk more about how hot the transmission gets on these up hill runs. Especially when they’re constantly shifting up and down like this one seems to be doing.
The powertrain from the Escalade V needs to find its way to the Tahoe.
Yes and the Silverado as well, come on GM!
@@BigMike_6872 Definitely!! To combat the TRX and F-150 Raptor R!
@@johncs154 I hear rumors about a contender from GM called an Asteroid.
The GM cameras go off based on speed. They will stay on from a stop until you go over like 10mph
So Chevy is excited about minimal gains that we could easily get out of a exhaust and cold air on our own that I’d bet they are selling for 10-20k on the lot
That 6.2 liter V-8 ecotec engine is impressive
Didn't the Ranger tow the same trailer. It hit 60 in 15 seconds vs 14 for the big 6.2 Tahoe. I know the Ranger has forced induction but the truck isn't light and only has 2.3L.
Does that cold air intake increase average mpg, and if so, by roughly how much, do you know?
I’m guessing you guys are probably going to try towing with the 2023 Ram 3500 Dually?
Who's the stranger in the passenger seat? Andre, it sounds like Mr Truck
But Mr Truck has a great Mustache 🧔
We need more Mr TRUCK
Thanks
My new suburban high county has the air suspension and a brake controller paired with the 3.0 Duramax is it safe to say mine would be a perfect 5 state lol
My 2023 Chevy Tahoe z71 is currently in the shops dealership fuel injectors are out and there's a back order on it so now I have to wait 😑
I wonder if it's just a case of the brake controller being deleted as so many options seem to since the pandemic. I think they are offering the options as the parts become available in most cases
More Mr. Truck!
Thanks
They need to do this and maybe a slight bit more to the Silverado and call it the SS, it would be a hit if you could get an affordable one and a loaded one within the trim 🤷🏻♂️
We could not agree more. The Silverado SS power level should be at least 450 hp (perhaps something closer to 500 hp).
@@TFLtruck Absolutely if they get close to 500 out of the C8 then they could get close to that power figure for the SS
What youre Getting in a Police Tahoe with the RST interior and a 6.2 with intake and exhaust. You get the 9C1 police Body (no roof rack) and the Police Spec Frame, suspension, Brakes, and tires. Its got a suspension tuned specifically for heavy duty use, and handling. its a great buy, but its not designed to be a trailer hauler. its designed to haul ass.
Looking to get the escalade with the 6.2 in the future. Im guessing the towing performance will be similar to this tahoe
I want to see the big 3 1/2 ton XLT, ram and Silverado all with v-8 at max. Not the high end 100k trucks but a normal everyday truck that the average family man would buy. Maxed ou
Gotta give love to Mr Truck
Thanks
I think that when you compare it against the 2018 Expedition, this doesn't hold a candle and that's with a less powerful motor.
No shave november must be over for Mr Truck😂😂😂
Anything to make my woman happy
It looks like you are securing the jeep by the d-ring frame mounts instead of the Axle. This is pretty dangerous and could overload the straps as the jeep suspension will transfer the energy into them.
That’s what I had been thinking the last 2 videos. And I’m pretty sure at one point in TFL history Andre made a video on proper tie down of a vehicle, in which he calls out the right way and to never to it the way seen here.
Never tie down the sprung bits!!
Chevy! Thunder!
Yeah you can really hear it crack! The lifters that is
Andre and Mr Truck. Nuff said
Thanks
As ford guy I’m impressed it’s looks great . Definelty beats the timberline and st explorer 😢😮
It's not a competitor of the Explorer, you should be looking at the Expedition, which on paper its not beating, the Tahoe might be better looking and sounds better, even then the Explorer ST is probably better at going faster, the Timberline is more a visual trim than anything.
Mr truck looks 40 years younger 😂 he looks like a teenager again
Wow, I'll tell my girlfriend
Would love to see the Wagoneer with the new hurricane engine do a IKE.
How does this compare to the dodge durango rt with tow n go?
Does anyone else think Mr. Truck and Andrea look like father and son?
$ 81 K ? then I dare not think what one has to pay in the Netherlands with those excessive car taxes
Wow. I-70 looks to be in rough shape these days!
Tire chains are tough on roads
It better stomp ike. At around 70-75k for a 5.3 and probably up to 80 with a 6.2, it's good thing it's roomy enough to live in. Payments would be close to those of a mortgage.
Also, hearing commentary about people wanting V8's because they sound good is absurd. I mean, yeah, they do sound good. But people want them because they put out great power and performance and have better than a snowball's chance of reaching a quarter million miles or more. I'll be surprised if those 2.7's last much more than half as long as the smallblocks on average. There's no getting around thermodynamics. You want torque, you burn fuel. You want the same torque out of half the displacement, you have to burn that fuel either twice as often, or charged to twice the pressure. That means more wear. Period.
future videos have a camera always on the rpm's 👍
I would rather see a test like this on a hot summer day.
I would love to see an Ike with the new Ford Expedition with the H.O. ecoboost!
Mr Truck! Wish the RST was the 3.0L Duramax.
Me too
Is that Jeep ever going to see real off road or just a trailer queen
It would be awesome to see the Cadillac escalade V
How in the world can y'all give it a full star going downhill?? You had to hit the brakes a lot. I wouldn't have given it anything better than half a star. And the camera on the Jeep made it look like it had quite a bit of sway. Perhaps it's better judging from the driver's seat.
Gotta say. $80k+ and no brake controller? Pretty big fail. Also with that exhaust you really hear it searching gears often. Way more often then I would have thought. I’ll take a standard exhaust over that obnoxiousness if I towed more than once a year. Also it’s a nogo for me requiring premium fuel to add that little extra hp…
I think the towing rating should’ve been lower to half, 7600 pound rating is too low for that class of vehicle. Mid size trucks tow that much. It really should’ve had the trailer brake controller.
I just find it extremely hard to believe that the "average" person can afford an $81,000 vehicle.
Transmission needs to learn, maybe at 1169 miles it needs more learning per downhill.
Nice vehicle. You guys certainly put the test in testing vehicles. The v8 sounded sweet.
No fog lights??
Would like to see the Wagoneer with the new Hurricane engine I bet that thing rips
LOVE Mr. Truck !!
TFL needs him in more videos !!!!
Thanks
If GM would actually give it some power that's what I would be driving today. But I'll stick with my Durango SRT thanks. And I'll tow more and do it faster lol
Please, don’t be that guy that just sees a larger number and thinks it’s better or more. Real world driving conditions also matter. The size of that little Durango will not handle it well if you’re looking at max numbers. Like the old saying goes, just because you can doesn’t mean you should. The suburban has a much bigger frame and will handle towing better. That little Durango isn’t much bigger than a Ford Explorer.
@@ronmexico1975 Agree with the first part, but the Durango has shown to be a pretty competent towing vehicle. BoF SUVs will have certain advantages when it comes to hauling or towing, but I think AoA has done some Durango towing tests and shown it to be just fine for most uses (not to mention some advantages for other uses like daily driving).
The Durango is a mid-size SUV that can tow a heavy trailer better than the vast majority of full-size SUVs. It’s biggest advantage is its maneuverability when towing on tight winding roads. It also makes a better daily driver in an urban setting. Finally, the sound of the Hemi on the SRT and RT Tow N Go models is unbeatable!
Can't wait to hear the crickets from all those that complained about the Ram rotary gear shifter, mixing it up with the smaller radio volume knob next to it. Now Chevy takes it a step worse & makes BOTH knobs the SAME size & puts the headlights & the 4x4 shifter together.... plus they tuck the headlight switch further behind the steering wheel & has the 4x4 switch outboard & easier to access..... whadda ya think gets used more in the life of a vehicle.. headlights or 4x4? The headlights should be the easier to access one. Plus you can shift on the fly into 4x4 & possibly not notice it, not good on dry pavement.... at least the Ram uses two different sizes & knob textures.. and the computer will NOT allow it to change gears while moving.... so as much as some people whined about Ram.... they still did it better & smarter than GM did..... plus it doesn't have the butt ugly front end Chevy does.
Do people really mess around with automatic headlights that often? I can understand if they were headlights where you had to fittle with every morning and night. Personally I hardly mess with either one. But I tend to mess with the 4WD system more so than the headlights. Mostly because GM offers the 4WD with auto 4WD. So I'm more appreciative that the 4WD is in that specific spot.
@99 Zulu yes, many people still manually run their lights... especially in cold climates where it snows & poor weather... gotta remember.. automatic lights only operate from.a light sensor on the dash or back of the rear view mirror... all it can do is tell bright & dark.... sonwhen it rains or snows or is foggy in the daylight hours.. your lights are NOT triggered... and in most places...it's a ticket able law that headlights must be on in inclement weather. Vehicles that have DRLs ( daytime running lights) they only use reduced power ( dimmed lights) and only to the front... so No tail lights.... so yes, automatic lights are not a set it & forget it thing.... they still need To be manually operated quite often..
“If it’s BIG you might wanna grab it…” wtf so who’s Ike and what’s the Gauntlet .
This is why you don’t pick up Hitchhikers
Mr Truck!
Hey
Has anyone heard of a Tahoe ZR2 diesel being developed?
Leave it in one gear. killing that transmission
