She saw what I did with the DISASTER next Door and asked me To Come Over!

  • Right, ok, time for another overgrown yard cleanup. This property is actually next door to the property I did in the previous episode. When the homeowner saw what I did next door, she thought to herself - that's what I need! She actually approached the homeowner next door, as they are friends, and he let me know that she wanted a quote for some work. When I went over, I didn't think the property was all that bad, but decided to do it for free anyway. Was I wrong though with the amount of work that was required! I ended up doing 12 hours just on the front, with 3 trips to the landfill. I couldn't do the back, as the homeowners son said he would finish the back. Before I started this job, I walked around with the owner, and she told me exactly what she wanted to do. In the end, she was very happy with the result and started to plan for future plantings.

    FAQ's:
    Q: Where are you located?
A: I am from Hobart, Tasmania, Australia 🦘.
Q: Do you worry about snakes?
A: I have never even seen a snake in over 5 years on the job.
Q: Which equipment do you use?
A: Mostly STIHL power equipment (battery and petrol) and commercial Honda self-propelled mowers.
Q: How much do the jobs cost?
A: Sorry, I prefer not to talk about costs.
    Q: What happened to Nick?
A: Nick was offered a full-time position at his other job as a Political admin.
    Q: What happened to Brent?
A: Brent quit at the start of August 2022.
Q: Why don't you use tarps instead of bins?
A: Tarps are too difficult to move through small spaces and lift into the trailer. The same for wheelbarrows, they are only good for unloading the trailer!
Q: Why are the hot water cylinders outside?
A: I would say it's because Australia had a temperate to tropical climate, and therefore it doesn't matter that much if they are outdoors. To me, though, it seems a bit inefficient to have them outside in Tasmania with a temperate climate (coldish for 3 - 4 months per year). But that is industry standard down here 🤷‍♂️.
Q: Why are you cutting so close to your employee?
A: I'm not cutting too close to my workers, they are standing too close to where I am working! All of my workers have been told numerous times about standing too close to the tools and about the hazards involved!
Q: Why do your workers do all the lifting and carrying?
A: Basically, they are employed to carry things and I pay them well, to do the job required.
Q: You work so well together, how do you do it?
A: That's the magic of editing. My workers are basically given instructions on what to do, I just edit it all out, so the videos look seamless!
Q: Why don't you have help?
A: I've had many problems with employees in the past, so now I work alone.
    Q: Why don't you have a ride-on mower?
A: Well, there are a few reasons.
    1. I don't have the right trailer for a ride on, considering I always take away the green waste.
    2. I don't have anywhere to store it, as my shed is too small.
    3. A lot of the properties we do have fences and gates, so you can't actually get a ride-on on to the properties.
    4. I don't do enough big jobs to justify spending 15k AUD on a stander, but it would be nice to have one!
    5. I will get one as soon as my transport and storage problems are solved.
Q: What happened to your workers?
A: Because the work is so hard and I expect high standards, most have quit over time. The only exception so far is Nick.
Q: What types of ladders do you use?
A: The large one is a Gorilla Adjustable Platform 150kg and the small one is a Gorilla Mighty 19. They are both adjustable.
    Q: Who/what is Jim's Mowing?
A: Jim's Mowing is a franchise business. The Jim's Group is the biggest home services franchise in Australia.
Q: Why do you have 2 channels that seem the same?
A: Quick Cuts (my original channel) has music in the background. Quick Cuts V2 is for those that like just machine noise, and it doesn't have music.

I am 76 and I know why she said to cut it back so much. I always believe lawn businesses , when they are doing an overgrown yard should cut the bushes way back. A lot of lawn companies don’t trim the bushes and if us older ladies still mow our own yards, it’s too hard for us to trim the bushes, hence the bushes get way out of control. So cut them way back and they can start over. Gives us more time and saves us money so we can wait a while to have them cut or trimmed again. Thank you for doing what she ask of you . Sorry if you have to take flack from others who don’t understand. Your so very kind and good at what you do. It looks absolutely amazing!!! What a difference!!!! Thank you so much. You are very much appreciated.♥️ blessings from Oklahoma City , Oklahoma.

Have to agree with owner…tree’s should be cleared up to 60-80cms from base, to allow for better air circulation and promote strong tree trunks. Big fan of hard pruning, I would trim all trees to fall below the line of the eves of the house. Aesthetically looks better, good structure & form. Great work as usual George 👏🏽👏🏽🌳🏡

And, I especially like that you remove all the green waste rather than just mowing over it a couple of times and leaving it in the yard. It makes your work look so much nicer and more professional. Another great one, George. You are a good person, doing it all for free. Why do you not have a helper anymore? It seems too much for one man. You are a superhero.

I watched the video where you mentioned that two neighbours wanted you to have a look at their yards and this woman in particular, was looking at you over the fence trying to get your attention and also was watching you through the gaps in the fence, so I knew that she'd want you to do her yard, but something told me that she'd want to have it done for free. I was right and she seems to be pretty fussy for a free job too. What a huge job this was. I wanted so badly to skip the whole video and go look at the finished job but I remained patient and watched your video to the end, without cheating. I have to say that it was a hard thing to do though. I hope that this woman was pleased because if she hadn't, I would have expected you to charge a fee to do that job. You spent hours, and a lot of time getting rid of the branches at the dump for her, so you did spend time and money for her. Great job as always. BTW, I have noticed on many of your videos that you had to cut some branches or tree trunks that were pretty big so I would suggest a bigger chainsaw and a stump grinder. It would make your life easier, I'm sure. Take Care. From Canada.

Your attention to detail and your clean ups are remarkable, showing your work ethics. Keep those videos coming and we will keep watching. Thank you.

It looks so much better! I really like it. I can see how gum trees, although they look quite magnificent and are so iconic in an Australian way, make a lot of mess with all the shedded leaves and bark. I also looked up Australian Cheesewood tree and saw that not only are they a pest tree in a lot of parts of Aussie, but that they can grow up to 15 metres!! Holy moley!! She might want to consider whether she wants to hang onto that! I was astounded at how nice and healthy the rhododendron was! Considering rhodos are native to the Himalayas it couldn't be in a more different situation and yet it looked great. You did a great job yet again George. It really looks good.
PS. It looks so dry. Are you guys on water restrictions? Hope some rain comes your way and freshens up everything and gives all the trees and grass a good drink!!

I like it. Hard prune is good. The Myrtle is more like a tree than a shrub and I reckon the place could do without it. I'd never have guessed that paver path was under there. I just love these videos ya legend.
