  • Alright folks, another good one for you today. This customer is another one of my regular mows, and she has quite a large yard, especially out the back. She loves her fruit trees, but struggles with the remainder of the garden. I've pretty much been looking at this mess for around 3 years, so I thought I'd help out. Although doing the entire garden would be a massive job, I decided the least we could do was clear the paths and parking area. We did the job for free, it took us around 2.5 hours to complete, and we removed about a half trailer of green waste.
Workers on this job: George (long pants) & Brent (shorts).

    FAQ's:
Q: Do you worry about snakes?
A: I have never even seen a snake in 4 years on the job.
    Q: Where are you located?
A: We are from Hobart, Tasmania, Australia 🦘🦘🦘.
Q: Which equipment do you use?
A: We use mostly STIHL power equipment (battery and petrol) and commercial Honda self-propelled mowers.
Q: How much do the jobs cost?
A: Sorry, I prefer not to talk about costs!
    Q: What happened to Nick?
A: Nick was offered a full-time position at his other job as a Political admin!
Q: Why don't you use tarps instead of cans?
A: Tarps are too difficult to move through small spaces and lift into the trailer. The same for wheelbarrows, they are only good for unloading the trailer!
Q: Why are the hot water cylinders outside?
A: I'm not really sure to be honest, maybe something to do with space & maintenance, but either way, it really is poor heat efficiency!
Q: Why are you cutting so close to your employee!
A: I'm not cutting too close to my workers, they are standing too close to where I am working! All of my workers have been told numerous times about standing too close to the tools and about the hazards involved!
Q: Why do your workers do all the lifting and carrying?
A: Basically, they are employed to carry things and I pay them well, to do the job required.
Q: You work so well together, how do you do it?
A: That's the magic of editing. My workers are basically given instructions on what to do, I just edit it all out, so the videos look seamless!

@@margaretwoolley7335 imo it's less work to get debris in bigger piles first. Not a central pile. You can grab and drag more branches by the bottoms in each hand. Cleaning frequently means more bending over with less debris lifted for the effort. For smaller plants and debris, i used a lawn rake and snow shovel, like a broom and dust pan, into a wheelbarrow. I translated housework to yardwork. I always chose to do the cleaning up cause power tools were never my thing.
If you work in a yard you know to be careful as people can have sharp glass, metal, snakes. Like i said before, they do it the way it works for them, they are being paid for their good work and hopefully get a bit of youtube revenue.

"Extreme gardening". Been there, done that: at one time you struggle then you give up. She gave up. And I understand it very well. I did myself. Until someone (a gardener I paid for) removed everything from the garden except the cherry tree and the lilac. Even the turf went away - too many weeds and other strange things; the terrace itself was removed than rebuilt. The makeover gave me the will to work again in my garden, I improved it, decorated it, planted lots of flowers and bushes... Sometimes I'm angry as the gardener fed the weeds this spring (Europe) but all in all it's now manageable and it'll be for your customer as well. I wish her the best. Knowing that she loves her fruit trees makes me think that she'll be back on her tracks. Gardening is the best antidepressant on Earth and the both of you marvelous garden guards. Hats off, chaps.

Finding paths is a good start. We couldn't see what you were walking on. :) Tough to have an overgrown large garden. Your work will be encouraging. This is a really excellent renewal. You are returning the design lines rapidly and removing "no longer used" plants and items. As a teaching video, it again shows that you can handle an overwhelming looking area if you do it one little bit at a time. Walks refound, safety light refound, water faucet refound, clear passage on sidewalk for the neighborhood. Space given back. Room to walk and not trip. That is quite a gift you two made and gave. It is like having a whole new house back. Loved the before and after shots.

I like it that you are helping your customers with things they can’t do or get done. If you are making videos anyway showing them your appreciation is better than just any random person. Sure did hate to see those dead trees 🌲 left up though. Good job. FL Nana

Whenever I lift my eyes from your work to your horizon, which happens at least once per video, I think “what a beautiful place”. And what an amazing place, where the vegetation can do what it does.
