Apart from being an excellent modeller, you have a very relaxed and entertaining style when presenting your tutorials. We'll done, and thanks for sharing.
Thank you very much! I guess, I get bored watching instructional videos as much as the other guy so I keep trying different things to keep the show entertaining in my production. Glad that you liked the approach. Cheers! Kaustav
Hi Professor! You, by far, are my favorite Indian romantic poet, intellect, model and diorama maker, humorist, You Tube content provider, with a soundtrack that would make Flatt and Scruggs smile, ever! Thanks, see ya next time.
Wow! That's quite a compliment Norman! Not sure I deserve all that yet, but I'll make sure to do my best to give it its due justice. Your inspirations go a long way, let me tell you that.:) Cheers! Kaustav P.S. I wish I could use the actual sound tracks of Flatt and Scruggs, but I have to say, these new musicians who are making such nice music and let everybody use them are real stars!
WOW! After watching the previous video (where you build one single perfect tree) this one is just... WOW! I don't do HO/N Scale, but the same principles can be applied to the 1/35 scale I work with. So thank you for your amazing work!
Haha, thank you so much! I am glad that you liked it. Yes, making trees is sort of like a hobby within a hobby for me and the wire tree making techniques are applicable for any scale, so you should be able to follow the instructions for 1/35 as well. Glad that you’re enjoying my work. Cheers! Kaustav
You keep things simple but the results are just amazing. Especially some products are not even available in India and may be an expensive material, the alternative thinking to gain the effects are great! Crackle paste, the hairspray technique instead of adhesive spray. I was struggling to think about the alternate way but you made it simple. I'm trying to learn before i do anything and I'm getting started now watching your videos. I wish you and your channel very good luck and please keep updating and teach us more brother ❤️ 😊 i would love to ask you many questions as well 😅 thanks brother!
Thank you so much Abhimanyu and I am really glad that you found this helpful. Yes, there are few things that are still not avialable in India and it will possibly take some more time for proper scenery materials to be available here, but in the meantime it is possible to build very good models with minimal import and using materials avaiable in any art store here. I am glad that you found this video helpful - take a look around the channel, mostly all videos have some or the other different technies. :) Cheers! Kaustav
Really great video that shows a variety of methods of tree making. I used corn starch to thicken my acrylic paint for the bark. It was cheap and I had it available. I will have to get some of the crackle medium to test that myself. Keep making theses inspiring videos!
The starch is a nice idea. I am also going to experiment with saw dust and wood-glue, it's an old technique and gives fanstatic result for certain types of barks. Thanks for looking. Cheers! Kaustav
Brilliant, as always! Do your hands and fingers a huge favour and wait for as long as practical possible untill sniping the loops when making wiretrees. Thin wire trunks can be build up and twistings hidden by using yarn. Luv luv luv
Wow, thank you! I am glad that you enjoyed it. Please check out my model tree making series and you might find one or two surprises there too: ruclips.net/p/PLJG77T3HqmaYRjhYgdsHslQ7iAF2U9ojd Cheers! Kaustav
9:00 Just had a flashback to my uncomfortable exam in the doctor’s office. Trees look absolutely awesome K. Great work. And again, your video editing skills are excellent. Much appreciated. Keep up the good work. -Mark
Super impressive results from lots of concentrated & fine labour. Thank you for such detailed & well edited tutorials. I must ask, have you taken (or do you currently take) orders for your finished work? Would be very interested if you did. Thanks again!
Thank you kindly! 🙏🏻 Yes, I actually do take custom orders for dioramas and scenic materials. Please send an email to kaustav.railroader@gmail.com and we can discuss
I used sea foam trees many years ago, but it was on a layout in a shed in the garden. Unfortunately something - we think mice - decided they were very tasty and ate them all!
LOL! It is sad, but in a funny way. Yeah, using natural products for models are great as long as you can keep them in controlled environment, else it's quite easy for nature to 'take over' so to speak.
Thank you! It sure is - you can replace the spray paint and use airbrush (I am have done that for many trees myself), but know that it will tkae much longer in a normal airbrush used for detailing. If you can get an airbrush with a good spread then that will reduce your time to significantly for each tree. Hope this helps. Cheers! Kaustav
Thanks for your great videos. Just found you while researching willow trees. I would love it if you would make a weeping willow for HO. I am looking for ideas. So far the most promising is a type of grain top (like wheat but finer) and ostrich feather. I have started ordering, but am still a little unsure how I am going to proceed. A lot of experimenting, I suspect.
Account option could be, synthetic wig hair as the base - better take the straight type, glue them to the branches and then add the leaves (ground foam) to the strand. But I haven’t built one still and as it said, experimentation is key.
@@TrainsandDioramas thanks for the wig idea. I found miniature fern fronds on etsy... trying that. Also peacock tail feathers, which have some individual feather pieces along the feather quill. I do need some regular trees and your vides help. I will be ordering another backdrop from you soon. I ordered a custom backdrop for Iaeger/Auville last year. I really loved how it turned out. Keep up the great work, I really enjoy your blending of scenery and backdrops.
I have returned to model trains after a 4 year absence. I made lots of UK N gauge Metcalfe building, but never got round to trees. I think I owe you a big thank you for your video.
You're most welcome and the pleasure is all mine that my tree videos have been helpful. I guarantee you, it makes a lot of diffrence irrespective of the quality of other models on your layout. :) Cheers! Kaustav
Absolutely top class content. Are you from Kolkata ? Just amazing just amazing. I am a great Railway fan and also build tiny layouts though not professional but your work is eye catching. Keep it up dada because you are someone who can be of great support to those who are in this dream hobby. How can I contact you ?
Thank you, I am glad that you're enjoying my work. Yes, I am originally from Calcutta, now in Hyderabad. You can find me in Facebook, Instagram and Twitter, if your query is specific you can also send me an email - details in the 'About' page of my RUclips channel. Thanks again for stopping by. Thank you for your kind words ! 🙏🏻 I post many how to videos, please feel free to browse through them, you’ll find a lot of learning opportunities. 😊 Thank you again for stopping by. Cheers! Kaustav
Yes of course. I use the cheap and strong ones. They stay on forever as long as you don't put your model in water. They're not recommended for your hair though!

Thanks Morten! I haven't tried the yarn method yet. Should be pretty easy to nick it from my wife's stash.

Have you ever used a gloss over spray to help give the waxy look to the leaves?
no, at this scale the gloss makes it too glossy. You can do that if you are modeling a rainy day.
@@TrainsandDioramas Thank you! I wondered about that, I trust your experience and expertise. Much appreciated!!!

How to get seafoam trees in India
Unfortunately no homegrown source. You have to import. Easiest is to use a retailer in UK or Australia.
nice work. Did hairspray still sticky?
Yes of course. I use the cheap and strong ones. They stay on forever as long as you don't put your model in water. They're not recommended for your hair though!
Gopher
Do I want to use these methods, yes! Do I need materials such as spray glue or or more importantly green poly fibre ? Yes but they are out of stock 🥲
Where are you looking? These are quite commonly available in various shops in the UK, Europe and the US. Check Woodland Scenics or WWScenics.com
