Merchants’ Reactions to Player’s Invested Money - Skyrim

  • Merchants buy and sell items to the Dragonborn and can be found in almost every city and town in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim.
    Some merchants can be invested in if the Dragonborn has the Investor perk.
    Investor is a perk that becomes available when the Dragonborn reaches 70 in the Speech skill. Using this perk allows the Dragonborn to invest 500 Gold in certain shops and merchants. The effect is that the shops in which the Dragonborn has invested will have 500 Gold more with which to barter. It will also count as a favor, and allow items to be taken from the business.

      The problem is this game doesn't have any real working economy, and unless you have the proper mods for this, food sleep and water are all worthless, and taxes don't exist unless you have the mod and other such systems that would make money a little bit more of a struggle.
      Unfortunately you can only get these things from mods, because Bethesda didn't really think from this perspective for the player.
      So at the end of the day, the player has a lot of money from pillaging Dungeons and selling gear, and this investing perk, isn't really investing so much as it is charity that doesn't exactly have a real return investment outside of giving that vendor slightly more cash on hand.
      The economy in Skyrim needs more depth. And that can only be achieved through mods at the moment.

      Honestly, the people that liked Skyrim is definitely a silent majority. It is the diehard Morrowind and Oblivion fans that constantly have a bone to pick with Skyrim, and they are honestly annoying.
      Like that video that indigo gaming made a few years ago. A whole bunch of dick sucking towards Daggerfall and just lobbed all kinds of criticisms on Skyrim. He literally said that Skyrim's success is solely due to the popularity of Morrowind and Oblivion.
      Another criticism is that Skyrim has bad graphics. Like fucking what? It had to come out on the 360 and PS3, and I don't remember anyone saying that the graphics were bad back in 2011, but as soon as it aged, people began to compare it to Witcher 3 (2015 game) instead of the 2011 Witcher 2 that came out in the same year as Skyrim
      Edit: A lot of Morrowind fans are very elitest.

      @Impaleification That's because Bethesda sucks at making RPGs, i like Skyrim exactly because it lacks so much. Many of us see it as a sandbox to build the game you want on (with mods), and i understand that's not for everyone.
      When i wrote this, i meant it to the people who highly criticize it for no reason. People saying like "it didn't deserve the fame/hype" etc.
      If you want a good RPG, i recommend Witcher or Dragon's Dogma.

Wait until they find out you're essentially a *_godling_* who can bend minds, slow time, turn invulnerable (and run forever/fall from any height), cause fear, disarm people, command animals, attack at a ridiculous speed, summon ancient heroes, summon 2 different dragons, blast people away by force or with tornadoes, breathe ice to freeze your enemies if not simply damage them, breathe fire, buff themself out with "Dragon Aspect", drain life, weaken your enemy's armor and lifeforce, raise the fallen, speed dash, and call down thunder *_all over the place_* only to yell "Lok vah koor!" as _yet another ability_ later and make the weather sunny and nice to boot, lmfao. • @user-tp5yb4hr4w
      @user-tp5yb4hr4w 2 года назад

      Yeah they didn't make this mechanic very well in my opinion.
      I had to supplement through mods that actually made Investments worthwhile.
      I'm talking about purchasing houses and shops Farms mines and depending on how much you want back on your investment you could set the rent from low to high, and depending on which one you choose makes the NPC treat you differently, if the price is too high they actually might attack you if the price is too low they will treat you very well but you'll get less in your return, however it's still passive income. So is still much more worth then this stupid perk in vanilla Skyrim.
