After seeing how close the anchovies were in my last video I had to give it a try from shore and see if anything big was lurking around. www.fishermanslife.net
Matts. Never change. I love this throwback style video to your early days. You may not know how much, but your videos have gotten me through tough times and you just being a genuine guy out there sharing both success and sometimes no success is so refreshing and needed in this time where all you see is instant gratification on most social platforms. You are the real real and thats why I love your videos.
Good safety tips on rocks! I'll give you one in return. Get a short length of rope and tie it into the handle of your bucket. You can throw and retrieve the bucket and not have to go right to the edge of the water! Love the content!
The anchovy population in the bay and surrounding ocean is EXPLODING. My buddy at 26th and Balboa watched pelicans drop anchovies in the streets because their beaks were too full.
Totally happy you made another Jetty Episode, like your older videos! You make catching bait look like a ton of fun too haha. Gonna start catching them off the wharf in SC soon!
Dude, I love your stuff!! I didn’t even know this existed a year ago. You inspired me to start my own channel! Thanks for all the killer fishing trips! 🔥👊🏻🎣
Sweet a jetty video!!!! Love the shore fishing. I just got done fishing and filming at the south jetty of Morro Bay where no one goes but me. Landed 3 rock fish and a jack smelt for bait.
BROOOOO THAT SO GENIUS with the bubble box. flip your batteries when they are not in use to not accidentally drain the batteries low the best life/fishing hack
The bobber would work good off docks and piers here in Florida. Next time try tying a length of light anchor rope to the bucket handle; so you can retrieve the water. We even use a clip,so we can clip it on the handle and off.
I was just thinking about the weighted slip bobbers I have been making and how tired I was making them and wondering if someone was finely making them for casting. ( That was a long sentence)! 🤣. I like using them in the kelp as well. I should have known you would have them. Much love for you and the family.
Was a little upset when you didn't help the dead seal. But then I realized: it's dead... Love your video, wish you and Taku make more videos together!!
Love the vids long time fan gathering bait fish can be very rewarding especially when you get huge hookups on the fresh bait you gathered its emotional.
Just a tip: For walking on slippery rocks, buy a pair of felt soles for waders and glue them to a dedicated pair of shoes with shoe goo or similar. Can kinda literally be a life saver. You might need to grind the sole of the shoe down a little to get a good glue.
Don't worry about it Matts and at least you got out for the day to relax by yourself. like the saying goes that's why it's called FISHING not CATCHING.
Interesting idea to soften the bones. Would be great to bread and deep fry too. Btw speaking of eating 'bait' does anyone eat Crangon bay shrimp up there in the Bay Area? In regions bordering the North Sea they're a delicacy, fry in butter, eat shell and all, cannot be beat
@@chir0pter If they exist there I'm sure someone eats them, unless they're protected. Back to eating bait... Most bait fishes' bones are edible even when fried. But in the pressure cooker the spine gets soft too, so you can get the extra calcium and nerve tissue nutrients. You can make them into cakes, sandwich fillings, or pizza toppings when bones aren't an issue.
@@moretimethanmoney8611 yeah I thought you lived there, I think people catch and buy them for bait so there might be a bit of a barrier to eating them. They really are one of the top 2 or 3 seafoods I've ever had tho, at least the species from Europe
Nice water/wind/wave conditions. Was there 2 weeks ago, over 3 days couldn't take the kayak out at all. My other 3 days spent north Pacifica, fishing in heavy morning surf. Again, seas too rough for me-kayak.
Another great video. @ 11:20 - Ocean may be unlimited rods but you were on a public jetty so I believe there's a 2 rod limit, the same as on a public pier. you may want to verify that.
Hi, I've been watching your videos for years now and as always your videos are awesome. I'm new to Kayaking and just wondering if you could make a video on how to use the VHF radios and how to choose channels and how to call for help that would be very much appreciated. Thank you,
As always, a great adventure! Trying to make the street fair in August to meet you in person. I love fishing the jetties too! Better luck next time. When I am getting water for live bait, I have 25 feet of paracord tied to the bucket handle so I can throw it out without risking a slip! Later bro!
**Theres a prime example of the scam profile and number in the reply under this post.** Great vid bro. Pro tip on the bubble box, use an 18650 or 2 of them if you have. EDIT* just gotta bend 1 prong side, not the spring side.* way better aeration, if you need. Keep up the great work brother! 🤙
No shame! As they say, "a bad day of fishing 🎣 is better than a good day at work ". You got after it! Thanks for sharing!
but what if his work is fishing...
What Andrew said. Does this apply when you make you living from fishing 🤔 at least he shows the reality of fishing most of the time 😂
@@nintendude1988 lucky man to call that work! Posting videos of fishing 🎣.
@@fishduckdog I'm definitely jealous!!
Totally dude 👍

Maaan I gotta get back out on the jetty…

Wow that's very cool. You love to hear it
This is the most Californian reply ever
@@HungryHelpings You're welcome
wonder if its like that in oceanside
I like how Matts share skunk days too. Some just post big catches.
"Back to the car and no fish"...
I know the feeling...😮💨
The walk of shame is the best way to learn. Keeps you invigorated about how to plan for the next time.
As always your production quality is top notch bro. Thanks for taking us with you!

Now thats fishing right there! Putting in all that work and sometimes we just get skunked but it’s all about that journey my friend! 🐟👌🏼
Sweet a jetty video!!!! Love the shore fishing. I just got done fishing and filming at the south jetty of Morro Bay where no one goes but me. Landed 3 rock fish and a jack smelt for bait.
I really enjoyed your last video showing us the freezing trick for the bait!

Always a good day when you put out a new video!
Thanks for taking us out on the jetty with you. Too bad you had to do the walk of shame, better luck next time buddy!
As a parent, grandparent and great grandparent I am glad you remind people to be careful especially when fishing alone.
Hey @ least your out there doing it Brotha ✊🏼🧐!! Awesome episode Matts, Keep em coming Mane 👊🏼😎🤙🏼

Perfect video for my lunch break
I love these videos. Thank you
Great Video Matts. Cheers. That Fog horn in the background would drive me crazy though.
I love the little scream when the swell comes up! Sounds like me when I see a snake. 😂

Holy crap I found you bro!!! I saw your sand fleas video 5 years ago and ever since then I’ve been searching!
I love your videos and wait eagerly for them even if you don't catch any fish. I miss the butter though.
That anime run! 🤣
Was a little upset when you didn't help the dead seal. But then I realized: it's dead...

what do you want him to do? CPR the dead seal and hope it comes back to life? It's a fishing video, he's not Dr. Oakley, the Yukon Vet

Awesome bro! I haven't hit the jetty in awhile ! Been wanting to go! Hopefully the next time!
good day fishing, matters not if there's no fish! Happy Independence Day Matts!
Very nice video ! I love all things baitfish !
That's the fisherman's life man.
The anime style run got me LOL
Fish is just the icing on the cake in addition to the fun and chill while fishing :D

No shame, I thought it was a good video. You posted, I liked and than watched, and not disappointed. TFS 😍🎣👍
Absolutely love that anime style edit. Dope moves!
fish or no fish the video was excellent either way !
"sometimes it just doesn't go your way."
Probably the last thing that seal thought. 😭
The walk of shame..lol. :) Been there. It takes a long time to get out that jetty. Its a long and difficult walk. Better luck next days my friend.
I drove down part the Pacific Coast highway it's so freaking pretty. When I got to half moon bay I thought of you!

Now this I can relate to. Hahaha great info though, hope to check out the jetty someday.
Enjoyed this video like the same old days youre doing!
I was hoping you'd upload today. Good deal!
The anime rock run was dope! 🤣🤙
Dude, I've done the Walk of shame on that jetty so many times 🤣
Don't worry about it Matts and at least you got out for the day to relax by yourself. like the saying goes that's why it's called FISHING not CATCHING.
That looks like a perfect time to go poke-pollie you can get to all the holes you normally can't get to
You could just fill up your bucket with bait fish. Pressure cook them so the bones are edible, then pan fry with butter, etc. Delicious!

that was a fun video to watch, loved the anime run
That’s why they call it fishing. But I can’t complain about the peacefulness and relaxation that goes along with it
It's called fishing... If fish to take home were guaranteed, it would be called "Catching". Thanks for the video, it was enjoyable
Live bait shore fishing are the most fun to watch👍
I remember that honking sound from your Dungeness crab catch and cook

Is this jetty in Half moon Bay in California?

Ooooh you're right! Forgot about that 👌👌
Casted that darn thing to Martin's Beach!!!🤣🤣
Got out on the jetty today. Man I love it out there
How I miss the Bay Area. I can smell the video all the way from here. Maybe i'll come visit next year when covid maybe is gone.
Love the jetty videos
could you possibly do a video showing how to make fishing knots and why and when you should use those specific ones
It ain't called catchin! Love the determination!
Best bait fishing video on RUclips 😆
They make small dehookers for Sabiki rigs. You don't even have to handle the bait.
Looks awesome & fun be safe out there though
Jetty videos are my favourite
What was the line rating on the seeker rod
Love your videos! Curious why the seagulls are disappearing into thin air at 4 minutes though
No fish...but still an awesome video..I always enjoy your videos .,my brother..stay safe always.

Fisherman’s life, are you going out for salmon this weekend? I keep seeing charter boats limiting out by 8:30 am. I’ll be out there Monday July 4th.
If you ever do a trip to Australia we will have to do a calab !
would be dope to see another trout catch camp cook vid
“Hoyaaaaaaa!” 😂😂
That thumbnail is kind of an optical illusion lol
That makes me feel better for not catching anything the last two times I went to the coast. Lol.
anyone know what jetty this is?
Which sabikis you using?
I just realize this now but sometimes Matt sounds like Hank Hill from King of the Hill. Anyone else can hear it?
I was watching you eating perch. We buy ocean perch in the stores and it's one of the best tasting fish. I just wondered if it's the same perch
how do you cast with a baitcaster?
