    I'm always so jealous when people find fabric at thrift stores - I've never had such luck! Great finds and I look forward to your future projects.

    That white lace tablecloth was very popular in late 1980’s/early 1990’s. I can’t believe you purchased a whole bolt for $7 - what a GREAT score ❤

    Hello! I will make you feel so much better!! Ready? My mom learned to sew in Germany, at the Pfaff Warehouse! Growing up, she had to "stash" her stash, LOL. Her stash was in banana boxes, with lids, and went across the house, in the basement, one side to the other, 4 high!! When I moved to Florida, I had an 18 ft trailer and a pick up truck bed, so I could only take 18 of the regular size totes of fabric. Yep, are they 18 gallon? I had to replenish so I now have 2 huge shelving units full, a coat closet full and my sewing area full. A lot is my moms, I lost her to Alzheimer's after moving and hang on to everything of hers that I have. Anyway, you have a "baby" stash, you good.!!

      LOL, going forward that's what I'm calling my stash - the "baby" stash! I like that so much! I completely understand holding on to the fabrics, I imagine each one is a memento of her. So stash on, LOL!

      So sorry about your mom ❤

    Beautiful florals. For those kinds of prices, you have to buy them when you see them.

      Exactly!! Like it would be painful to leave them behind!

    The fabrics you thrifted are divine!!!!🥰❤️❤️I would have been upset with you if you did NOT purchase those!!😊Yess I totally agree with making pajamas from the tiedye knit! You could also overdye the fabric to overcome the high contrast but keep a muted cloudy look. ☁️☁️

    I don't wear pajamas in public. Gave me a great laugh. Me too! I also have been trying to limit fabric and pattern purchases. Thank goodness it's vegetable garden season! That'll keep me out of the thrift stores. There's a belly laugh for you LOL.

      Oh I can relate to being torn between gardening and sewing! And thrifting...
      I have been doing better lately at passing up "projects" when I am thrifting (tough I totally would have bought those 2 florals!!!) I keep telling myself, "don't buy another project!" So unless it's an easy fix or a fantastic deal, I am staying away from things that could work but I don't really need or are not 100% my style.

    sew a piece of lace into your low neckline...quit tugging at it. Select a solid color fabric to go with the 2 yards from mood. use the mood as the skirt and the solid where you need it.

      It's such a dreamy dress and I found the construction to be pretty easy. My shocker was how time cosuming it was with all the gathering but going into it a second time - I'll be more prepared for that 😊

    I also thrifted the 2nd fabric, I actually got it in two different places one was weirdly pieced together. That was quite a score.
    You got such pretty fabrics.

      That's so cool. It's a brand I don't think exists anymore but they're prints are so beautiful!

  • @downtoearthsewing
    @downtoearthsewing 7 месяцев назад

    I don't think the first two fabrics could have been resisted by anyone! They are beautiful and the price was such a steal.
    Otherwise, you are making progress 😅
    Besides the financial impact, lately I have been able to avoid new purchases because I feel like each cut is another item on my to-do list, and I find it overwhelming.
    At some point I went through my stash and narrowed down specific projects for each fabric, so now instead of being "one stash" it has become "x number of projects." I don't know if it makes any sense to others, but adding one or two items to the list is different than just making "the stash" a little bigger.
    But again, I would have 100% bought those thrifted florals 😊

    • @thecuratedcurvy
      @thecuratedcurvy  7 месяцев назад

      I actually can really appreciate your way of thinking. It's make the what we're committing to in a fabric purchase more real, it's not just another cut - it's another project added to the, already miles long, list! I can really get behind that! Especially since I am someone who needs to visualize a thing before it becomes real to me. Thanks for sharing that with me!

  • @OhAlice1951
    @OhAlice1951 7 месяцев назад +2

    Hey Julie, do you think you could still squeeze an Elenor dress out of that last fabric if you made it with bias binding straps instead of the big billowy sleeves? The raglan sort of cut makes the adjustment easy enough

    • @thecuratedcurvy
      @thecuratedcurvy  7 месяцев назад +2

      Now, that's an idea I really want to explore. Initially, I was thinking there may be too much ease in the upper bodice portion but going back and looking at some of my process photos, there actually is not. So, that may be a viable option! Thanks for the suggestion 🥰
