It's nice to see large companies turn to smaller business's for some of their product needs. It would also be nice to see more videos from Harty Locomotive Works. Get on it, man!
I very much enjoy watching these videos of revenue blacksmithing work. Certainly they are not as glamourous as making knives or swords but a realistic view of how the modern blackamith earns his living. I would like to see more of this.
This isn’t just modern blacksmiths thought. I’m not expert or even amateur, but most likely Throughout history smiths where doing exactly this. They made swords and knives sure, but they prolly made way more every day objects we take for granted.
Wow that's large. New meaning to heavy metal. Very nice job. Keep up the great craftsmanship and hard work my friend. Forge On. Fab On. Weld On. Keep Forge lit. Keep Making. God Bless.
They are made by Welsh, the same company that makes my suspenders. They come in a little kit and you just hammer them together. They’ve been holding up well on my Steele pants.
Can these parts be made to the quality when industrially produced? Not tryna be rude, what is the purpose of having a local shop do this instead of some huge corporation?
I suspect it's probably a case of the production run being small enough that it's not cost effective to make the tooling to do this flattening operation manually. Factory setup is expensive! If you were making 10,000 of these then probably you'd get them from a full scale factory that would set up huge presses to do the flattening in a single motion.
Good job Ethan , it’s a pleasure to see that the power company uses a local business to source parts to repair infrastructure. Also good to see actual repairs done instead of replacing the whole structure . I’d enjoy doing work like that , those sort of jobs will pay the bills and if you’re reasonably priced and prompt with it I hope you get more regular work from them . Good job ! I enjoy you and Tim . All the best from New Zealand

Super interesting to see you work on big components as such
Very interesting, thanks for the video!
i love the fact that you are uncompromsing
I see you have put some nice buttons on those pants ;) May I ask if they are any particular kind that work well for suspenders?

@@EthanHarty thank you Ethan! Appreciate it!

I suspect they work really well and just get the job done. Cus those utilities can afford the best. They don't cut corners.
I am under the impression that you are making the parts from new stock and not modifying an old towers parts for something else?
Yes indeed this is brand new steel.
