Just want to thank you guys for sharing your adventures with us...during these difficult times I find a lot of joy watching your journey...
Is there anything you two can't do? I love how you come up with an idea, determine that it's beyond your current capabilities, then source the educational content required to figure it out, and then go and do it - all successfully! Simple Amazing!
They can't giveaway there truck
I am looking forward to the testing and improvements but those a definitely a great first edition of the Ambition Strikes Tracks kit. Good job!
“Ambition Strikes” is a perfect name for your channel. Most people start a project and realize they don’t have the skills for the job. You two seem to have a willingness to learn and gather information that surpasses most peoples “ambition”. Thank you for the superb content.
Way cool! Can't wait to see it in the snow! Totally impressed 👏 for real!
Outstanding build. I can’t wait for the episode on how to add full hydraulic steering, should be really cool and useful.
I can’t tell how amazed I am at your willingness to take on so many challenging projects. You two are truly inspiring. Keep it up, can’t wait for more.
I look forward to seeing you build a heated insulated concrete shop floor. :-)
The Trax are interesting and the real question is will they work to well so that you really get stuck. Leave 2 pairs of snowshoes as well as a small shovel in the Cherokee during deep snow use. Spending a night in the snow and digging yourself out is no fun. (don't ask me how I know)
Hey Riley,
is there a link to the plans and files to cut and make some of these for my Japanese mini truck?
Thx.
For the anti rotation you should spring load it to reduce the stress. Thats how they do on track kits on ATVs kits. If you needs pictures or ideas I can take pics of my kit I have.
Thanks for the tip, that’s a great idea!
A hydraulic shock absorber (regular ole suspension shock) mounted horizontally from somewhere around the lower control arm (front) or front leaf mount (rear) would prevent the track units from swingling around like a pendulum and could be configured as limit stops if sized correctly and mounted properly.
Gas charged shocks could be used to counteract the counteract the drive torque as well. (More complicated on the front end as the forces on the unit reverses when in 2wd and 4wd, but honestly, this this is probably only gonna move in 4wd. )
Great content you two. A suggestion for Boone... When we go camping we set up a "run line" at camp. Between two trees tie off a rope or twine 50-100 feet or so at about 8 feet high. Attach a 10 foot lead to this with a carabiner and attach it to the pooch. When we do this, it allows our dog to essentially have the run of the camp while still being limited to the camp. It's a lot more freedom for her and allows her to run as well. Just a thought. Cheers from Arizona.
Can’t wait to see the snow fly, you two have accomplished a really hard thing to do. I hope you make it home safe.
Next year, Riley: "hey I just finished the helicopter, where's my goggles?"
Very cool build!! ☃️❄❄⛄
😂
The dump truck Mod was really cool guys. But this is an order of magnitude Cooler! #EpicFabricobbling
Jeez you two have soo much different skills. Love the fact you make everything yourselves. Great job 👏
Absolutely amazing, Riley the ‘Engineering Genius’!
Well done that is a difficult job most people would never contemplate I'm impressed...
I love the snow tracks idea. I had been contemplating that idea for about 20yrs, but I couldn’t find any plans for them anywhere. All I could find was pictures of them. I’d really like to find some plans somewhere just to give me an idea of how tall and wide I could make them, or even implement them on an ATV for deer hunting season. Thank you for rekindling that idea. Feel free to message me anytime. I might be able to help you with a project that you’re stuck on completing. Thanks again.
Very Cool, where in Northern Idaho you guys at?I want to move up around Coeur d'Alene.
droped a comment for the algorythmus, droped a like for riley´s knowledge and a big smile for Coutrney goofeyness which makes the vid always intressting and fast; best invested time for all of us
Thank you so much for the support! ☺️
Most impressive part of this entire build is Tylers? rock-solid motionless pose starting at 13:09. He doesn't even flinch once!
Don’t use powder coat for this. These will constantly we wet and a nick in the powder coat allows moisture underneath.
Before you know it rust forms and you don’t see it until it’s too late! Just touch up every spring with rust encapsulator spray paint
Before you put them away.
Riley, you're a proper Renaissance man! Bravo to you both for such an accomplishment!
Another interesting project!
Can’t wait to see it in the snow.
You guys could put together a Best Of-Funny Moments & Outtakes video. Be sure to include today’s vid at 17:57.
I love how you guys explain what’s happening I’ve seen so many other RUclipsrs build stuff and not explain stuff
You guys always work so good together
cool to follow you from Denmark🇩🇰 with cities mega good video👍🏻😊 you are always welcome here in Denmark 🇩🇰 in the EU
This is one of the coolest projects ever which was the LAST thing I expected to come across on RUclips!!!. Always loved snow and tracked vehicles!
18:00-18:10 Double entendre???🤣 20:45 Would a custom wrench, similar to a distributor wrench, help with tightening/torqueing the lug nuts? Excellent work all around.
So, Riley, When did you say you were getting that cow?
Congrats on getting your tracks to go forward and in reverse. Once you get the lockers on the front axle won't you have to turn the spacers again? Locker caps do come out further don't they?
Those are lock outs or locking hubs, not lockers and a factory jeep axle doesn't use them.
Dirty deeds done Jeep cheap. Or… Dirty Jeep done Dirt Cheap. Or… Dirty deeds done Dirt Jeep. It goes both ways! Or three ways! Lol 🤣.
You need to pickup a woodstove and some stove pipe ...before you go !!!!!!!!!!
You see a woodstove will give you some California in your shop...
Clear safety glasses will keep you from getting a weld flash, if you have had one then you will never want to get one again. MIG flash is the easiest to get,Tig not so much!...............Having lived in snow land all my life the way it works, it's like this the year I got my first sled very little snow that winter, the year I got my first car lots of snow stuck slid all over the place, the year I got a snow blower little snow and the year that I got my first 4X4 little to no snow!
congratulations! I'm a little concerned because you're not able to properly tighten your lug nuts! Also you desperately need limiting straps so that the track won't hit the body and I would shorten the slider in the front a little. Also you might need extra idler wheels in front of the drive sprocket.
Is there a reason you didn't tip up the back of the sled assembly like you did the front? It seems like it will try to dig in instead of going over an obstacle when you're backing up. They look awesome.
You two are a hell of a team I see nothing stopping you guys in life congratulations Rick and Pam from southern Ohio
you guys are awsome, just found your channel ,wicked
Thanks for watching Doug. We hope you’ll stick around for the next adventure. 😉
Nice tracks, well done! Too much offtopic in the video so i skipped most of it, but thanks for sharing your ideas.
Dude this is absolutely amazing work! I would love to buy the plans off you for a hefty sum in a couple years!
good videos nice to see life and happiness in people , I lived in boise beautiful country but hate the snow I am from Utah and I also hate thensnow so I reside in new Mexico
Amazing!!!!! Cant wait to see it in the snow!!!!
Maybe that bumpy truck bed spray stuff will work. Probably look pretty bad a also, Ha Ha!
I want some for Heidi my Hummer H2.... Excellent job!!!
Awesomeness! My whole career as an engineer building machines and I never did anything like that.
Yellow Banana should get those shoes too.
I was certainly thinking you bit a little more off than you could chew on this one... But it seems to work! lol
Paint is better than powder part for these parts. Powder coat will crack and allow moisture in causing corrosion.
Gonna wanna put some extra cans of gas. Cool job on them. Hopefully it handles well in the snow
Snowverlander is a brilliant name for the jeep. Love watching you guys work.
PLEASE release the plans for the tracks. I NEED these on my 1 ton cherokee
Riley that is awesome, you are a great and crafty guy. I get your concern as you got further into it. But well done.
I can tell you're an Engineer and not a welder/fabricator. Your not fooling me.
Absolutely amazing, if it were for "normal, everyday people." But you two are ABSOLUTELY AMAZING, so I had no doubts it would go forward and backward. Still a bit concerned about the little bit of slippage usually needed in 4 wheel drive, unless you are in really soft stuff. Usually the tires allow for that, but these may be exactly the same with very large surface areas in contact with ice, and some pavement. But, so great to see your planning and detailed manufacturing come together. I suspect there will be someone out there that wants to help you simplify the manufacturing process and go into production. Used truck or SUV 4x4 chassis conversion kits, maybe. Well done. (And, almost enough dog shots, too ... ;-)
You can rent a spray booth to powder coat your parts. Just pay for time, buy your materials.
Or… Dirty Jeep done track Dirt Cheap. I give up. 😅🤣
You can sell the CNC program, to make 💰 money 💰...
Would that we all had as much on the ball as you two. Refreshing. Inspiring. Thank you.
What an awesome job!! Watching the process and seeing the end results...priceless!! Keep up the great work...I am so looking forward to you guys getting back to Idaho and using it in the snow! Cheers!
You probably have thought of this but, just a suggestion to make sure you adjust the toe on the front 😉
You guys are awesome!...thanks 4 video. be kind.
The tracks turned out fantastic hopefully they work great in the snow. You guy’s are very skilled and talented. Thanks for sharing.☺️☺️☺️👍👍👍👍
Awesome project, congratulations ! I watched first a video where you tested the tracks on snow. I didn’t realize back then that you built the tracks yourself. After watching these videos I'm really impressed, awesome job.
Courtney you are so cool with stuff it's a WOW GIRL
Can't wait to see this thing in the snow! You guys are so fun! And yes, a mullet should be required to drive it. 😂
Wow! Great teamwork😎. Awesome job🎉
The Tack Master, lol. Kind of a Tacky joke… 🤣😅
I love how you do it all together
Christine said Courtney’s engine sound sounded more like a chicken than an engine. It looked like you laid down your vinyl/decals dry. I thought you would have laid them down “wet” since they were so big. Do you only use the dry application method?
On these ones I only used a dry application. They are large but don't cover a huge surface area and the placement location was not very critical.
G'day guys ,,
Great effort with the tracks,,
However ,,im a little sceptical about the durability of the design. As you drove on them, the track wobbled and shuddered
,they look to loose on the frame so probably prone to derailing.
Still,,i hope im wrong and they go gangbusters for you .
Respect
from
Down Under
We can’t wait to test them!
Hey you could have left the Amb off and put an F instead. 🎣🤣. Looking forward to see how the tracks work in snow.👍
😂
You guys are very cool and very Ambitious!!!
Mullet wigs all the way!!! 👍👍 Beanies and jack shirts too!
Here's a technical comment.
You might want to mount the drive sprocket to the car first so you can torque the nuts easier.
The ones I've seen all use that procedure for safety.
Love the video.
That is an excellent idea!
Wow in a little over two weeks designed ,redesigned then made those you guys got some mean mechanical skills
Ambition Strikes fits you guys to a T so glad i found your channel amazing content and skills that you have are epic, Rock on awesome job and thought out big time video skills are super thank you for your time to inspire others to take a leap out of there comfort zone.
Thanks for watching! ☺️
Nice work, you guys! I hope the steering rack holds up. You might need to go to hydraulic assist which I'm sure you'll make easy work of that.
I just subscribed! I commend you guys for living your dream. I have only watched (listened mostly) to a couple videos, I’m on an automotive assembly line. I like your attitude of never giving up. You are a joy to watch working together. You give us confidence to “you will never know unless you try” encouragement.
Thanks so much for subscribing Brian!
Ok, HOW does it really feel to be the Mamma Jamma BADasses of all BADASSES🦾🦾🦾? I want a ride in that Pimped- out, hoopty, -ski skootin' snow tracks beast! I really want that pattern cutter machine...I don't know what I'd do with it but I really want one. You're both so incredibly resourceful👩🏭👨🏭 and multi-talented🧑🎨...it's like you are a Swiss Army Knife as human couple form. Well done ...well done👏👏👏🎉🎉
Theresa, I think you are our ultimate hype person. Thank you so much for always cheering us on and supporting us in many ways! ☺️
@@AmbitionStrikes Thank you ...I am honored to cheer you two on. I'm a red-head turned gray now. Back in those earlier days I loved adventure and love how you two have that spirit about you. For me I am now wheelchair bound and limited to adventuring (unless blowing spitballs at my blind sister while she sleeps is considered adventure). So I will do my part and enjoy your content and live through you two. Thank you for bringing me along.
Ohhhh man, you guys put such a BIG smile on my face!! Lol, WAY TOO cool…
Keep producing them, those things are expensive!
Can I have a blueprint of the track system ?
Nice job guy’s! On everything!
What if I don't think that mullet wigs should be mandatory? Can I still comment? :)
😉
You guys rock! You got it done. I still like the single bolt design. Part count is improved too.
Can't wait for the snow trials to begin.
Just a point be wary of reverse. On a sled it's great backing off the trailer, out of the garage etc. On the trail though you can often dig a hole. Lol.
Thanks for sharing, can't wait for the next episode.
Pretty cool we're all waiting... like a great mini series. WOW!
As a young guy who likes science, tech and engineering, a tracked SUV seems super awesome. Imagine having a RWD car with rear tracks, and regular tires in the front. The tracks could increase grip on the snow, while the front tires could improve fuel economy. :)
I bought the snow tracks plans, you should really have Them in cm for the rest of the world 🌍
Thank you for the feedback!
Only four????. What about a spare in case you get a flat?.😁😁🤣😁😁
😂
Do you have a parts list? I would be interested in purchasing a copy of your plans/cut files.
We're working on making a set of plans available very soon!
How freaking cool! I was debating on buying a CNC table and seeing this has conviced me it's the right thing to do.
2 things to know with your tracked Jeep. (1) Take extra gas. Your mileage will be worse than you expect, around 3 mpg. (2) Your power steering will need a super efficient cooler or you'll boil your power-steering fluid and have to muscle it.
Fantastic job. You'll have to refine your setup and sell your CNC file to people who want to replicate this awesomeness!
Having a plasma table is a serious game changer! We'd highly recommend checking out Arclight Dynamics. Our table has had ZERO issues and the customer service we've gotten is top notch.
@@AmbitionStrikes Hey, thanks for the reply! I've been looking at the Langmuir Systems Crossfire XR that is a full 4x8 and costs $6500 but I check out the Arclight Dynamics as well. It's always good to hear about great customer service. Thanks!
Amazing ability
Wigs.. psssht. Actual mullet required.
Does the jeep have 4 wheel drive or you are adding that?
The trax remind me of Johnny 5 from the short circuit movies. Showing my age now. 😉
Amazing Job 🛻
Check out u-tube Casey Ladell he has similar snow tracks and he found the need for additional power steering. Thus he installed hydrologic assist to his steering.
I have a project for you, where should i write to you
Your Trax are great, nice work.
This style of Trax must be driven, meaning it must have power applied.
Adding a coilover with an idler will tension the tracks but give when you get Debris between track and rollers.
Your design will not yield to debris, it will shock tracks and bearings.
Ice will become an issue. As well.
Back of a cigarette packet engineering at its best! Bloody marvellous!
You guys are totally amazing ambitious and awesome. I can’t believe you actually did it. Now for the snow
I'm thoroughly impressed! The way those tracks look! Damn! I can't wait to see them in action in their natural habitat!
Hi - First time posting. I retired from a Nuke Plant. We were on a special job that required a lot of welding. The scrap component was radioactively contaminated so it had to be covered so we wouldn't be subject to airborne particles. A welder, a fire watch and me monitoring for radiation. The slag hit the plastic and a small fire ensued - then another and another. Courtney's hair would light up faster than the plastic so Courtney please put that beautiful hair inside your shirt or jacket when you're welding.
Spectacular job. I'm very impressed 👍😁
