Photoelectric detectors contain a very dark (to keep ambient light out) smoke sensing chamber that involves a light beam and a light sensor slightly offcenter from the beam. When smoke particles come in, they reflect the beam into the light sensor. The way the test button tests these is by shining a beam of light directly into the sensor. Ionization detectors contain a chamber with a small radioactive material (we're talking a field that can slightly harm an ant, we're not talking Chernobyl) and two plates that create an electric field using the radiation. When smoke enters, it disrupts the field triggering an alarm. The test button will remotely interrupt these fields. Most detectors however only test the sounder and (if applicable) the LED, and not the chamber, which is why Smoke Centurion and Solo A4 were invented.
Today I bought a mystery smoke alarm. The brand on it is ‘Cone Drive Textron’. Cone Drive is an industrial facility near me, but do you have any information on Textron?
if you have a hard wired smoke alarm you can connect the wire that sends a signal to other smoke alarms to a relay that could connect to a fire alarm control panel or a horn
Just a question we have ones like this at our house that went off today due to our Grill and the red light on them keeps coming on and not turning off but they're not sounding what should I do
The first 3 detectors are not Kidde's, there FireX FADC's. They just look similar to the Kidde FireX I4618AC's. The second to last one was a Kidde I9010, and the last one was a First Alert dual sensor.
I find that the FirstAlert photoelectric detectors do test the chamber with the button, but I still prefer using canned smoke.
first nice vid its allways good to test them
How would it test the smoke sensing system by pushing the test button?

How old are the hardwired alarms because if they are over 10 years old you will need to replace them
They are over 10 years old but he can replace them if he wants or not but he moved away so he can’t do anything about it.

My uncle has that exact smoke alarm in the upstairs level of his apartment
Wow cool video very cool
Is it possible to wire a household smoke detector to a fire alarm?
Probably, just the right wires and voltage. Only if you have a wired system not wireless
if you have a hard wired smoke alarm you can connect the wire that sends a signal to other smoke alarms to a relay that could connect to a fire alarm control panel or a horn
I have done that with gentex GX93 mini horn
That smoke alarm holder I have one in my room
Very good and a good value
Just a question we have ones like this at our house that went off today due to our Grill and the red light on them keeps coming on and not turning off but they're not sounding what should I do
