Thank you. This one definitely took the longest to make by far, and was a turning point for me. I was off of work for the holidays and with a ton of crunch I was able to get it done. Maybe to others it might not be entirely obvious but after that video, I started to consider my videos from more of a "filmmaking" perspective. Before this video, although the art meant a lot to me, the music was the primary focus. After that video I started to spend a lot more time on the video aspects, story and so on.
Not every video will have a story in the same sense this one, but even in the videos I make now that have no real story or progression, I think a lot more about the theme and how the order of the images affect the perception of the video.
Yes this is a bit of a long comment, but even though this video wasn't very popular, it means a lot to me. :) Thank you for watching!

I assume I, Robot was an important source of inspiration for this video.
Actually it wasn’t. Do you mean the movie or the book. I watched the movie once when it was new, and I have the book in my backlog to read though.

@wimvanderstraeten6521 I don't want to put spoilers in the comments about either my video or the movie, but the plot is very different between the two I think.
If you mean more so the android designs, I wanted a variety of designs, but also wanted some of them to look very human while still looking very machine like. So for example faces that can emote much like a human's but with machine parts very visible too so they couldn't be mistaken as human. I thought that was important from a story telling perspective, because it would humanize the androids, while still making it very apparent they aren't human. If they weren't humanized like that, it would be harder to empathize with them. I think that was key to making the video work in general, but especially to make the ending work as I intended.
So definitely not intentionally inspired, but a lot of those kinds of concepts easily overlap each other. I read a massive amount of old sci-fi books, and they account for a large portion of my inspiration. And some of those books are written by Isaac Asimov. :) That being said, my favorite author is probably Philip K. Dick.
I feel sorry for those robots
It's not a happy story, but I am glad that I was able to create this experience with just images and sound. It was a real challenge trying to create a narrative like this with all of the constraints I had.
