- This is my third play through of Cold War Commander for my 6 x 6 Game Challenge.
It has been a little while since my last game so this game was a little bit of a rules refresher. I missed a couple of things, but hopefully they didn't have too much impact on the outcome of the game. If you see anything that I got wrong, please let me know in the comment section.
This scenario allows the attacker to have 50% more points than the defender. The US forces were attacking the defending Soviet forces.
I added some artillery into the game this time and I liked how they worked. Though they weren't super effective, I can see how it can have an impact on the game.

Huge fan of the commander games, so it’s great seeing one getting played! Thank you.
I really like the system as well. I've played Cold War Commander and Future War Commander. I'm still slowly working on models to play Blitzkrieg Commander.
I haven't played any in a while. I really should get my models back to the table sometime soon.
Great battle report. Helped me get my head around the rules, I'll have to dig up my rules and have another go at CWC. Look forward to you future reports
I'm glad you liked it and found it useful. I enjoy this rule set.
Good report. I've started to leave the casualty's on the units between turns as it speeds up the game and makes you really think about what you do with them rather than being so gun-ho.
This was my first time leaving hits on the units and I don't think I would have killed any units if I hadn't done it. As you stated, it does change the dynamic of the game a fair bit.
I'm glad you like the video. I've got more in the works.
Excellent
Thank you.
Tanks with stabilizers are rated S1 or S2.... move half and subtract either 1 or 2 die from their attacks. I like the rules. Mitch
Oops. I forgot to take the reduced fire into account when moving. Thanks for pointing that out. I'll try to get it correct next time.
Also, don't forget about the "iniative phase". Appeared to be a few encounters where orders were not necessary. It helped me to watch you play.
Good point. I forgot about that. I did have some units that got pretty close and that could have made a difference.
Thanks for pointing that out.
I'm glad the video helped you. Do you like the format? What could I do differently?
Hey Sean - Now that a few years have passed, what is your long-term review on CWC?
I have not been able to get my local gaming group very involved with it, so I have not bee able to play with all the facets/options it has to offer.
But, I still like it. I like that it works well as a solo game. To me that is a big deal since I haven't really got many local opponents.
Your rolling for the US was really bad, again!
What can I say, bad rolling is my style.
