Born in Popham Street 1968. Brought up on the Finsbury Estate. Loved Chapel Market Wimpy bar, J Sainsbury's, Homemakers? Shops like Jones Brother's on Holloway Rd. Maynard's for sweets. Miss it.

My sister emailed me about this great video because she recognised me in it...( I'm in the netball team, at the front holding the ball (2.02)). Sister said never seen that photo but I remember having it taken. Miss Edwards was our teacher then. Brought back lots of memories.. Thanks (ps:I haven't changed a bit!)

I agree the title" I am not from North London and am from Islington" Still resonates with me from over 12000 mile away and 70 plus years later. Having watching all you video especially the late 1940 early 50's . Great work and memories.

Grew up there in Halliford St late fifties and attended Rotherfield St primary until the age of 10, when parents relocated to Hampshire for work. Can recall an amusement arcade on the raised pavement by Islington Green where my Nan would take me, but not the name of it. Can also remember going to Woolworths cafe in Chapel Street for a really tasty savoury roll and an Ice Cream parlour also in Chapel St sited on a corner, where they did the very tasty lemon ice. So lovely to see all those old images and thank you for uploading.

My grandmother Jessie Blythe was first female mayor of Islington in 1938.She was also Labour Councillor and a Justice of the Peace. My mum was her Mayoress. Dad was also born in Islington in 1916.I think I recognised some of my relatives in the photos ,but not sure at the moment. Thanks for posting.

Monten Street School when it was in Monten Street 1955. Sweet shop on the corner, prefabs. crouch Hall Court flats. A solid working class area full of Londoners. That was then!

beautiful video! i dont think i know any of the people in it, but they seem just like the kind of people from islington i do know. i let out a "whoop" when i saw the twins. we all remember them!
i spent quite a lot of my youth in islington, and they were the best days of my life. not just because i was young, but because islington is such a brilliant area. i live in hackney now. its just not the same.
i would have prefered this with the queen version of days of our lives though.
