Got the Deluxe a few months back which took me a few goes to get used to. Now Im cutting my fingers on all the great sharp blades I have. Good bit of kit out of all the other methods Ive tried in the past this is the best
I bought the same three stone Lansky many many years ago and found it to be a brilliant and easy way to keep my knife sharp. After many years the plastic on one of the stones went brittle so I decided to buy a new kit with five stones rather than just replace the old set. I found the oil that come with the new set went very sticky and the stones would clog and screech over the steel which never happened with the old set. Not sure if Lansky have changed hands since my first buy but the product just doesn't feel the same although still does a nice job. The unbranded one you see that look the same are rubbish I bought one by mistake and sent it back.
@@Hyper_D Yes the new one has five stones red-green-blue as before with an extra black 70 extra coarse and a yellow 1000 ultra fine. the box is a little different as well it has 40 years stamped where the old box has Lansky and the opening catch is different. The knife holder looks to be brushed alloy as the old one is steel. I come with all the original instructions and cardboard cover like the old set but maybe this one is a fake as well. The first fake I bought never had any Lansky markings on anything and the stones didn't match the correct coarse. It still does the job but wishing I'd bought the Dimond set.
Maybe it's just me but I found that the guide rode are too soft and bend easily which completely ruins the action and once bent it's impossible to restore them back to perfectly straight and they would just bend again anyway. I never got anything close to razor sharp using the stones the At come with the kit but that's probably because the rods bend as soon as you start using them. Imho it's better than nothing but not by much and definitely not worth the money.

I have the Dimond one, which is perfect. there's no need for other sharpening systems
Have you used the standard one at all? What do you consider the main benefits of the diamond set?

Is the new set of the same type but just with more stones? Or is there some difference in them?
