Appreciate it my man. I’ve had good luck with taking toasted oak spirals… like the ones I use as yeast logs. (It’s probably a short on my playlist.) Charing them first. Soaking them in a good PX sherry I get from the store… soaking them for weeks if not months. And then dropping them in barrels. Or Mason jars 🫙 with my white dog. It doesn’t start getting good for at least a year. The longer the better. I’ve got a half gallon mason jar aged this way at my best friends house for 2 years. It’s great. Even his wife takes a shot every now and again. The biggest problem is the amount of time it takes. The waiting is the hardest part. (There’s a song in there somewhere.) 😉 Best wishes.😊👍🥃
@@BillMcGirr aging is my favorite part well tasting the age. you might want to try chips.. they age faster than the spirals. i use 5 different types of wood chips that i cook in a toaster oven or char the crap out of them with a torch. i have about 25 jars of different combos aged from 1~2yrs. they range from sweet, spicey to damn that's that good.
The color of that whiskey is unbelievable Bill! The way it looks in the glass really had me itching for a pour! Fantastic! I bet it tastes good. You definitely could see those legs too! My hat is off to you brother.
glad it worked out for you. i tried a bourbon aged in a sherry barrel... it just wasn't right.
