I just discovered this guy via Paul McCartney, what a great player! Why do these kind of guitarists never get acknowledgment? No offense but he is so much better than the famous guitarists and everyone talks about them. Really a shame
Well real musicians doesn't fail to recognize his talent. He's played with Paul Mccartney, Norah Jones, John Mayer, and a multitude of musicians. To simply put, he probably isn't a writer or a singer which is why he's not getting recognized by plebeians
It is astonishing that the Robbie McIntosh Band had so many well klnown vocalists, from Chris Thompson and Chrissie Hynde to Macca, Norah Jones and John Mayer. ;-) But every incarnation has a distinctive Robbie McIntosh flavour. And that's the good thing. As far as I am concerned all of these singers were the most interesting when Rob was around.
That riff from Robbie McIntosh in the Talk Talk song "I don't believe in you" is something of the most sublime I've ever heard on my earthly walk and that I will certainly take with me to Eternity.
@Yunero This piece is recorded during the New World Tour in 1993. Robbie was the leadguitarist during that tour of Paul McCartney and performed it. The song is called Thanks Chet and inspired by Chet Atkins. You can find the song on the Album Paul Is Live (track 6). Next to that he recorded it for his album "Unsung".
Great players bounce off each other, looking at videos where they're playing together, what I see is a good time, what I hear is great playing, not feeble attempts to out do one another. It's not a contest. Leave that in the sport arena.
@25Ragz Better believe it can be hard, and I've seen that video too. Trust me, not slide. Slide requires an open tuning. He was playing on just one string. Admirable, but not slide. I have my opinion, you have yours. We're done.
@25Ragz I don't like one over the other. Having played slide, it's my opinion that it is more difficult, and therefore requires more talent to play. Robbie does that and John doesn't, but I'm sure he could. I'm not gonna name genres he can't play. If he talked to you, he would admit he can't play certain genres. He is human, like everyone else. He's a great guitar player, but he's not the best. No one is.
John Mayer is so lucky that he played with Robbie Mcintosh.
Still playing live gigs to this day, an amazing guitar player.

Some people simply don't want the flash and fame.
I discovered him via Paul McCartney too in 1988. He is really good. So melodic...

I’ve discovered him via John Mayer both legendary guitar players !
@@leinardesteves3987 actually he's a pretty good writer & singer if you check out his solo stuff
...but we know what you mean
This man is the holy cow of unappreciated. The man is golden.
Robbie McIntosh is the reason I picked up guitar 20 years ago.
I met Robbie in January and had a little chat to him.
Feel very privileged.
More people should know Robbie...such a humble guy, and a class act.

How do they not show Middle of the Road solo?
one of my hero's of modern day guitar, brilliant all around- thanks for posting !
One of my favorite players.
1:10 is pure bliss
Glad someone thought he deserved such video and put the clips together!
Discovered him when he was playing with the Pretenders. Just listen to the solo in "Middle of the Road". One hell of a solo.
He's a hell of a player - most underrrated
It's called "Robbie's Bit (Thanks Chet)" and it was performed during McCartney's "New World Tour" in 1993. It was twenty years ago today ... ;-)
likewise lol fantastic player!!
If it had of been included on Paul's Off the Ground it would have been the best piece on the album.
And now he has a full album called Thanks Chet!
i miss robbie on macca's gig... one of the great rock folk guitarists ever
I knew Robbie a long time ago. Great kid then, great guitar player now!
one of the best around!!
robbie mcintosh and john mayer are both people. who agreez? upvotes plz
Amazing playing.
master !!! ❤🙌
I really like this guy. John Mayer is good, but he really brings a lot extra to the band.
He also recorded & toured with the Pretenders.
Check out who Robbie has played with and you can be sure you’re in the presence of a musical genius.

Amazing!

Bukovac sent me here…..
i see john!
so true
@49Stories yes it is. =)
What guitar is that in the beginning?
Is that right? He's a bit of an unknown here in the UK, best known for going out with Jennifer Aniston.

He looks like Tom Hanks now:)
That end bit is waaayy to friggin short
Robbie McIntosh>daughters
Anyone know the name of the song from 1:19 to 1:54?
what is the song at 1:30 called?
I get confused between this guys name and the guitar player of the Average White Band.
Onnie McIntyre / Robbie McIntosh 🙄.

@25Ragz
Everybody knows john is the best.
@25Ragz cool, brah. if you pick up slide, or maybe even start playing guitar, you'll see what I mean. :)
Seriously love, he really isn't that well known over here, hardly comes to the UK at all, that comment wasn't meant to be nasty, just a fact.
Where is UK ??
@25Ragz i'm not. john is a great player but robbie has more talent. truth hurts, eh?
Robbie McIntosh>John Mayer
@onlyonetigger that is so pointless and boring. Grow up.
